Drathonians are a large, cold-blooded, reptilian species, very similar to the Ancient Dinosaurs of Terra in many ways (some theories suggest they WERE dinosaurs, millions of years before society, and died off on Terra, but survived on their own world, on which evidence of humanoids has been found)

Drathonians have indeterminate growth, meaning they keep growing as long as they live. for the most part, once drathonians have reached a certain age (around 150-200 Terran years) they become sedentary, and much of their sinewy muscle which made them powerful fighters turns into fat, making them extremely large, hulking cratures that can crush almost anything. Although it is uncommon for a Drathonian reach this point, once they do, they can live to be around 500 terran years old.

There is an offshoot race called Drakonis, which are very small, timid creatures whose largest size is about that of a terran ten-year-old. these live only around 20 years, and are mainly slave labor. interestingly enough, the two races can interbreed, producing mid-sized, highly intelligent hybrids.

Drathonian females are large (but not hulking) creatures, whom are a lot smoother and less muscular than males, and made for laying eggs and raising the ensuing hatchlings. Females are prized by males as status symbols and trophies; the more females a Drathonian has, the more important they are. males often fight over females, and females are often given away as appeasement to peers, or as gifts to those a 'father' deems worthy of such an honor.

Drathonian society is a hierarchical structure based around age and power, both physically and politically, though the latter has a lot to do with the former. Generally, Drakonis are the bottom of the barrel, completely ignored even though they are vital to the society, followed by Females, then hybrids, then young males, and going up as the Males live longer and become stronger. 75% of males do not live past the age of 30, usually killed by other males their age, older males, or during wars with other races. of these 25% that live longer, between the ages of 30 and 50, they are brought into another stage, of being adults, but not fully integrated into the structure. of these, a further 75% are killed off before age 50, upon which point Dragoon status is usually acquired. of Dragoons, only about 10% live to 150, at which point they can become a Tyrant, or a leader of a large group. once a tyrant, a Drathonian male will grow in power and wealth until they feel they will soon die, at which point they will often allow younger males to vie for their possessions.
