Okay, so I have been a member of Gaia since 2007, and back then I came online alot. Everyday there was a new group of wonderful people to talk to. Everyone was nice, and friendly, and respectful. I finally started coming on again, daily, and I noticed something more and more. There are a lot of meanies on Gaia now! I don't know if people are trying to seem cool by bad talking everyone around them, or if they are trying to seem smart, or if they just have complexes, but gaia used to be a much nicer place! Granted even back then there were a lot of people who were mean to noobs, and that hasn't changed. I would like to create a nicer Gaia. So help pot the cause and post! Lets show everyone, especially the noobs, that Gaia is a great place to be! I add everyone, so go ahead and add me! ^_^ That is my way of helping the cause.
My name is Rachael and this is my way of helping the cause!

yeah everyone in the rally or the town are too busy starting fights or trying to ask random people out. i used to sit in towns and randomly talk to people and that's how i got most of my awesoem friends, but now the only friends i can find are in the guilds or in zomg cuz we talk about things, or we are helping each other play the game. why are so many people acting so rude now. i even had to stick up for my freind in rally cuz some one wouldn't stop following her and saying rude things just because she didn't want to date him.

If noobs weren't so arrogant and didn't type like 5 year olds i'd talk to them. I've only ever met 5 noobs who met that description.

Personaly I don't mind noobs but I've seen people who have been on Gaia for years type like 5 yearolds. I might have only been on Gaia for about 50 or so days and am very active in several guilds and rps and somebody calls me a noob I'll just correct them and have my avi walk away, but when they start stalking me and trashtalking me as well that's just wrong.

Yeah. I hardly go to towns or rally anymore because of those types of people. It makes me mad, that and that racist crap that happens too. One time I was sitting in towns and this random guy started saying all this racist stuff to me. I'll talk to anyone on here who's willing to talk.

I define a noob as someone constantly begging, typing a 3 word sentence in text talk and a rude new person who just signed up. A newbie is a new person just learning to get the hang of things, but noobs usually start topics in the wrong place or purpose. There is a difference. I have no problem with newbies, but noobs- i have issues with, lol they annoy me. I rarely donate because I never get enough. Maybe after my avi is complete. I'm questing for Kiki and I'm nowhere near my goal.

Some options of what's happening could be that the person is failing at getting new friends, and appeal to others as noobs. The noob may really be a noob, or just pretending to be for whatever reason they have, or just trying.

...i guess the problems don't lie on someone who just joined (any) social community (especially in the internet)...but lie on the fact that THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH NO CONSIDERATION to others...(this for both newbies/noobs and those who have been in community for quite sometime)
...although there are people who are rude to newcomers there are rude newcomers (noobs) as well...
Bottomline...if you want to get respected, respect others as well, that's what i think. but who am I for others to follow? XD

Well, I don't really think I've been considered a n00b/newb for a long time, but from what I observe, it really depends. More often than not, n00bs deserve it, because what makes them a nerd is normally what causes people to be mean to them. As for newbs, yes, some people are mean to others just because they are new. Personally, I think it's a case by case sort of thing.
