When I went to Pagan Pride Day a week and a half ago, I sat in a lecture about music as a healing method. The lecturers talked about singing bowls, which are used in Asian temples. They can be made of brass, or any material that can produce a melody when stricken by a certain kind of wooden wand, and they create different tones. It's like when someone rubs their finger on the rim of a glass, creating a musical sound.
Any music that you come across can be healing to you. It doesn't have to be "New Age", Pagan-oriented, coming from a church or temple. Rock, Pop, or whatever, as long as it doesn't add stress.
Many find that drumming is a good way to heal. I'm not talking about using a rock band drum set, but if that's healing to you, then that's what you go with. Some like to make their own music, sing their own song; some like to listen to others. Some like to listen to Classical; some like to mellow out with Trance.
For me, old pop/rock, from the 70's and 80's can be healing. When I'm greatly depressed, for instance, I put on Elton John, who's my idol. Right now I'm listening to Kansas - some of their songs have meaning to me. There are many bands I like because of symbolism that I find in their songs, the harmonies, etc. I also like some "New Age" and Pagan-oriented, such as Enya, Mediaeval Baebes, Blackmore's Night, etc.
What type of music is healing to you? What songs mean the most to you?

Ahhh! Music! My life seems to have one, long-running soundtrack because the iPods always on xd .
There are time I click on something like Loreena McKennitt for meditation, or tarot work. Sometimes during circles and whatnot if I feel my concentrations a little off. If I need to raise energy and cannot seem to do it effectively enough, I'll stick on something that has a lot of beat to it. Metal has some lovely effects on me 3nodding . Still, something smooth, dream-like to me (like Honey and the Moon- Joseph Arthur, or #41- Dave Matthews Band) can -really- get me in the zone.

I like to listen to Coldplay, Enya, Opeth, Apocalyptica, some Slipknot songs that are mellow, Within Temptation, and Nightwish when I am working or dealing with anything in my spiritual realm.
As far as instuments go, I feel that acoustic guitar music and piano music of my favorite songs are very healing and/or relaxing.
At the New Age shop near my house, I love to taps on the drums they have in their herb area of the store.

I find that social occasions such as weddings or small parties with friends are the best way to experiance music "magick".
[I put magick in parenthesis just incase that is not a correct example.]
(edit: I had put 'italics' in for 'parenthesis', too many college papers! Only a month and sixteen days left until the quarter ends!)
