This topic is to help new people adjust to the guild. It will advertise places of interest in the guild and let them get to know everyone. Hmm... Username(s): Dark Kaze4, The Volsa Name: Trevor Age: 22 Personality: Calm and likes to joke on the outside while mind is constantly on the move inside. I pay attention to various quirks or little details people create. I'm an observer at heart. Yep. Started April of last year and spread out. All my left eye lashes are white except for a black sliver in the center and the first 1/4 or 1/5 of my left eye brow is white as well. A doctor paid it no mind, and last time I got my hair cut (around half a year ago sweatdrop ) The lady barber thought it looked cool. Oh and my eye doctor thought I had dyed it for some fad. 3nodding It hasn't spread much lately though. The barber seemed to notice a slight change in color in my skin around the eye down to the cheek but must be an in the right light sort of thing.

♥ I hope it doesn't become anything serious! I've seen a few people with the same sort of discoloration in the eyebrows and eyelashes...I didn't think it was that common, but I guess I was kinda wrong. btw, I bet it is cool looking! ♥

It is a type of pigment discoloration or lack thereof condition called Vitiligo. For some reason or another the pigment (melanin) that gives the skin color is lost by typically being destroyed by the person's immune system or has randomly "self-destructed" for unknown reasons. Areas where the white patches develop are areas that have low, or none at all, amounts of melanin. Thought of as an auto-immune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks itself. Best example to give in this matter is a dark skinned person (like a black man for example) has areas on his body to where he looks white.  From my understanding, there is no serious issue from the condition though it can be distressing to some. There is treatment to restore the melanin to the affected areas but I cannot give an estimate on the cost of such treatment.

I don't recall how many. I've had to get stitches three times in my life. Once for that (My cheek had a lovely encounter with the mountain bike's sharp pedal.), once for my index finger on my right hand with an "easy open" pear can at midnight(Don't ask lol), and the final one for my chin getting into a "fight" with the basketball floor.

Yes, he had Vitiligo though a far more severe case of it. He also had another auto-immune disorder called Lupus (kind of the opposite of Vitiligo where this one causes your skin to flare up in various areas. It can also be fatal but with nowaday medicine that is very rare.). The bleaching his skin thing was a widely spread hoax the media created. The reason his skin went so pale was due to the treatments he was going through for his Vitiligo that further lightened his skin tone. He then used makeup to even out any blotches most likely. Like I said, it can be more stressful to some. To a darker skinned person, I imagine it would be more so than others. People are afraid to even leave their houses solely because of how they think others will judge them. There was also a entertainment reporter named Lee Thomas with this condition. However, he hid his condition for years (quite awhile) with creams or makeup to hide the white patches so people wouldn't know. He's now written a book about it and has gone touring around talking about it. Here's a video that talks about it to further explain a little. Lee Thomas
