The beginning~
Valiant was upset, once upon a time she begged for a mission like the one she would set out on, but now after she got a life damn near perfection, she found herself… hesitant. Hesitant to leave Ikebokuro and her growing daughter, hesitant to leave her son who was just finding out the pleasures and pains of growing up and finding a first love, and hesitant to leave the family that saved her life and taught her how to love again. For the first time since she was abandoned Valiant was leaving the best thing that happened to her, on a mission that would help them all; a mission that was classified to all but four people; Herself, Youko, Liraeal, and Raco. The female sucked it up and did what she was told, for all of their sakes… after all it was better to save her family then hide behind them. It was interesting also knowing why Liraeal had declined the mission, she had confided in Val as to why she was so desperate not to leave, she was in a similar situation as Valiant was in, just with a bit less responsible male. Valiant wouldn’t think of making Liraeal go, especially after she begged, but decided she would take the mission, only after Youko mentioned it to avoid suspicion by the male in question.
A week later~
Sleep deprived and coming home covered in blood she found a small river illuminated by fireflies and decided to clean herself, Valiant hated deep water and swimming, but hated dirt more. She was always clean, no matter what she had to do to get so. It was only when she was laying on her back in the crystal clear water staring at the full moon did she realize she was not alone. Her senses were dulled with the gentle lapping of water caressing her body and filling her ears, it took a bit for her to finally make out the male silhouette standing by her clothing. Val tried to remember Liraeal coming to camp, in all of her glory and grand entrances, and stood walking over to the male, already thinking of where her dagger was hidden. When she was close enough she realized the other was blushing, and quite eloquently dressed. Immediately she disregarded him as an enemy and felt a pang of longing for her darling son. The Manx made her way to her clothes, and put them on quickly, looking up through a veil of her hair into the strangers eyes. He was abnormally handsome, feminine but definitely not female, he confused her, and when he caught her staring he smiled at her.
“Would you care to camp with me? I have refreshments and a comfortable bed; I would be willing to give up for a lady such as you.”
Valiant blushed lightly and nodded… and that had to be the beginning of the end. She fell for him, needless to say, and him for her. Two complete strangers, sent out on different missions but found the one fate provided. When she left, he begged her to stay, and she told him of Raina, Ishtar and everyone at home… without mentioning the name of where she lived. When he asked she merely smiled and told him this;
“If you happen to walk into that town, into where I stay, then it is meant to be.” She lightly kissed his cheek and gave him a rose, telling him to remember her before she headed home. Both missions she had been set out to do complete.
Home~
When she arrived home the welcome home party had been more than adequate. Raina wouldn’t let her mother go and Ishtar complained about her looking too skinny. Liraeal had yet to tell Youko, and was hiding out by the lake in ‘her’ willow, unwilling to talk or see anyone. And still, Valiant felt something very close to pain in her chest, putting on a false smile every time she was addressed or confronted, and in her brief moments of interlude she would gaze out into the trees, daydreaming of what she believed to be impossible. He bore a mark on her, one that was far deeper than the skin.
When she awoke one morning she found herself throwing up and had a horrible feeling of flashbacks. Raina, and the pregnancy that bore her.
