I thought of this while going through DarkFire's recent post on Pro-Life propoganda.
I'm not trying to argue for or against any of DarkFire's points, first of all. This thread is only meant to discuss the likelihood of either side using purposefully -false- propoganda.
First of all, the different gains I could think of as reasons for leaders on either side to purposefully provide false information, with a lot of stretching of the imagination:
Pro-Choice__________________________Pro-Life ____________________________________________________________ Bragging rights should they win_________Bragging rights should they win Financial Income (PP and such) Eugenics___________________________Subjugation of women Control of women____________________Control of women To kill babies________________________Propogate the species
I purposefully connected a few of those.
Next, I would say scratch out a few that are slightly ridiculous, because they don't actually give any real gain to anyone.
Pro-Choice__________________________Pro-Life ____________________________________________________________ Bragging rights should they win_________Bragging rights should they win Financial Income (PP and such) Eugenics___________________________Subjugation of women Control of women____________________Control of women To kill babies________________________Propogate the species
Now the ones that would only benefit some secret all controlling cabal....
Pro-Choice__________________________Pro-Life ____________________________________________________________ Bragging rights should they win_________Bragging rights should they win Financial Income (PP and such) Eugenics___________________________Subjugation of women Control of women____________________Control of women To kill babies________________________Propogate the species
I'm giving the Pro-Choicers "Eugenics", even though there is hard evidence that the founder of Planned Parenthood and thus, pretty much the entire Pro-Choice movement, was Pro-Eugenics and Pro-Abortion for the purpose of Eugenics.
What we are left with is that leading companies on the Pro-Choice side stand to gain monetarily from spreading false "evidence" towards their side, while the Pro-Life side's groups really stand to gain nothing by spreading lies except the ability to say, "Whooo! I won! Take that!" should their "lies" be taken as truths, and the Pro-Life side win.
Discuss! And please, mention any other reasons that either side might spread lies.

Er, and by the way, I'm trying to think of this in a police-detective-style-thing. Probable cause for spreading false lies, in the same way as detectives on murder cases would look for probable cause for the murder (Stand to gain monetarily, revenge, accident, etc.)
