well..this is the first sketch i came up with. i'll probably do at least one more so that my partner and i can have more than one choice to work with. since we don't really have a theme i had a tough time thinking of what to do. so i used a winter theme, january being in winter and all, and came up with a winter guard army type deal. for the other i'll probably do something happy..and i don't want to scare bidelle away if this drawing is too daunting or not liked. so here it is:

i couldn't decide what to do with the hand holding the gun. originally on my quick sketch she was holding a chain leash to a salivating guard dog but it wasn't going to fit in the image right.

mmmm, I already have ideas for colors.

A few things, if it's not too much- her hand seems small and having another gun besides the rifle (while accurate) seems redundant. Perhaps move the rapier to that side, with her hand on the hilt?

Another idea I had was her carrying a white falcon or hawk or having a few flying over the tank in the direction of battle... but of course it's entirely up to you. biggrin

So behind the tank, is that smoke or kicked up snow? I think it seems a little too busy right there (my personal opinion ofc). An idea if you're open, maybe raising the horizon line a little and the background could be a village or dead forest on fire (blue flames of course!).

Haha so hopefully I haven't scared YOU off with these suggestions XD
I love the idea, I love the drawing, and it can never be too daunting! I love LOTS AND LOTS to work with!

OKAY also a few hours later I started laying down colors and started to see a few more things I didn't initially.

I found her head to be a little on the small side (along with her hand and visible arm) but her neck is exxxxxxxtra long. Also there was a slight something bothering me about her pose that I couldn't quite figure out. So I did a crappy redline to show you what I mean.
User Image

You can see her hat is sitting at 3/4 turned, her face is fully turned to the side, her chest is 3/4ths again, but her lower torso and legs are straight forward. In order to get all the parts to agree with each other, in the example I turned the lower torso and neck to 3/4ths (but left the legs ambiguous because I honestly couldn't get them looking correct since I'm terrible with legs!) and you can see how that effected the rest of the pose. Her arm should be a little longer, as before it was just barely under the crotch line.
Ugh, and I can see I made a mistake with the collar bone in relation to the chest, sorry. But you get the idea. The entire neck area is kind of vague.
And lastly, the eye seems to be a little off. The lid of the eye will be pushed out if the eye is looking in that direction (2nd example I drew) instead of being a flat line to the side like that.

I can see how much work you already put into it (and on paper it seems) so I can understand if you don't want to adjust anything, just my 2c. Hope it helps even a little.

of course any suggestions you offer a received just fine..lol. any changes can be made on my end with the hand drawing or on your end with the color...doesn't really bother me in the least. the hand was really throwing me off...yeah, the size was bothering me too and the fact that it was getting so close to the edge of the page just made things worse..lol. as you can see i don't proportion things exactly, probably why i do a lot of detail...kind of draws the eye in different places...hehe, even took you a little bit of time to notice them.

in the background is smoke...since i don't draw landscapes so well..haha. i'll see what i can work with and try and throw in a little town deal instead.

i thought it was funny that you mentioned a falcon/hawk. I had that idea too, but space again started to become an issue. at this point i'll just draw parts separately (character & background) and then we can work them in together. it might help with placement.

The positioning looks much more uniform now, good job! biggrin

The sword/hand looks fantastic this way too.

Only three things I can see that might need work, but I think it's a matter of personal preference. The eye might be set too low the head, the torso seems kind of short (or maybe the breasts are too high, can't quite tell, but something seems a little off) and the falcon's head shape.

There's a reference for the falcon, their entire bodies are basically one mass of bird-muscle with wings, so they don't really have a visible neck. They have teeny tiny sharp beaks and HUGE eyes. The second picture shows their wings in relation to their body and bone structure.

Hope that helps a bit. I also hope I'm not being too overbearing, haha. I'm such a pain to work with. gonk I'm so excited to start working on it when everything is ready. biggrin

lol..don't worry..i'm trying to use all this to help me better work on anatomy and stuffs. I know about the falcon...that was mostly just a placer i started doing, but i have some ref pics i was using of a paragrin falcon. the eye can be easily fixed, so no prob there. the torso length is partially an illusion because of the way/style i drew the corset. so now i moved down where the flare comes out to make the torso look longer.

The picture is turning out great so far.

I'm not really sure if a large bird like that can balance correctly on a person's fist. A smaller bird wouldn't be a problem though.

This picture reference may help a bit:

Yes, I like this design. smile And I'm okay with the bird being that large, just because he stands out a bit more.
