This feels like some sort of crazy cliche, or something...

So, you know the thing with the football player switching to marching band, and those types of stories? Yeah, well, it's actually happening to us. He's a football player (at least, he was last year, I don't know about right now), and I think he's replacing a trumpet player who's having health problems. I don't know how it's gonna work if he's still doing football, either. As far as I know, he's never marched before, our first competition is Saturday, and he hasn't been given any drill yet. I'm sort of excited and scared at the same time. xd I don't know if he's choosing to do this, but he seems to have a good attitude about it...other than being a bit overwhelmed. xd

Has this ever happened to anyone?

We have a freshman who si doing band and football. He seems a bit overwhelmed, but he loves them both. He will have to choose eventually though...

we've had a number of students to both marching band and football (the oldest is a junior and his brother did it all 4 years) and we've had no problem. Now, that situation would be overwhelming for anyone, football player or not, but once he gets into the swing of things, he should be fine 3nodding

That's exciting though! I love when people who do MB for the first time realize just how hard we work.

I sort of have the opposite. One of our front ensemble players left the band to join football once the school year began. At our first football game the whole band was looking for him.

We found him.

He was the water boy. .__.

Yeah, we had rehearsal sarting at 3pm yesterday for our game because we had no school because we don't have school for a friday after each grading quarter so the teachers can finish sending in grades and whatnot, and anyway the football players started practicing at 3 too. Well, we stayed out until 5 on one of the hottest days this month(hot as band camp.) and they stayed out for half an hour to an hour. Only thing was, our members were dropping like flies. It was so hot everyone kept having to go sit down in the shade because they were about to pass out. I was barely on my feet by the end, and during the actual show during the game I was still so dizzy and such. We have a horn pop to the box and clarinets have to put their heads back really far to do it, and I almost flell backwards and when I stood up, I almost passed out.

Try doing that football playersXD

I remeber one other person who was in both football and band though. He is a sophmore, and was in football last year. He messed up his foot real bad(Not sure if it was broen or sprained) and he was out of football for the rest of the year and couldn't march. I'm not sure if he was kicke out of football or if he just quit, but he doesn't do it anymore.
