The Great Hall and Entrance

Entering the great castle you find yourself in a large hall.
Welcome...Sit, Take a goblet of wine (for those of you who can still drink it) or blood and enjoy the splendors Vlad Kenshin has to offer in this wonderful home.
The Great Hall has many things from old Europe. Feel free to look and remember times long in the past. As you look around you will notice that the Lord here is not your typical demon. But one who has a taste for the finer things. Beware for only this room and the study are for those outside the clan. The house may look old. But I assure you, it is quite modern, especially when it comes to security.

Faris padded into the hall, his enchanted leather satchel and the duffel containing his small mate's things slung over a shoulder and his hair in his face.
"Gods damn it. I almostwish I'd remembered to grab the pins out of my bag this morning before we left Isle de Gambino. Really, Dove, can you tie it back or something?" He looked over at the small woman that he seemed to have accidentally outpaced.
He plopped onto a chaise lounge a few paces to the left of the door and reached for his mate, "Yuki, darling... I'm sorry. I'm used to people being right with me for the most part." Faris looked her over for any sign of her tiring after a day on a boat from an island to the distant peninsula. "This old hack of a demon better have decent rooms. Tavern my a**, for you." He snorted and yawned, flashing hard fangs.

Light scuffles could be heard pacing about at the top of the lonely grand staircase. And after those could be heard the light and slow footsteps, straight and calculated. Takken, the stunted imp, was the first to be spotted in sight, tripping carelessly down the winding stone staircase.

"Augh, master! Why aren't these steps any smaller! Didn't they take smaller folk into consideration?!", the ugly green imp blabbered, dressed in what looked like monk's or apprentice's clothing.

Coming upon the last step, he tripped rather hard, landing face flat on the cold hard ground.

"It would be most healthy if you kept your beak shut", came the surreptitious echoes of a deep and commanding voice, followed by the Lord himself. Kenshin dawned white oriental robes and his family crest on his chest, his purest "human" form ablaze in all it's glory. Kenshin was a tall and lean man, seeming to be young, but placed with a appearance that told those who looked upon him that he was old and wise. His silver hair gleamed brilliantly in the rays of the setting sun, and he walked, straight-backed and stately, carrying his weight with the lightest of steps. Kenshin followed after, stepping right on the poor insolent demon with a heavy foot. After he'd passed the imp got up, dusting his robes off and looking sheepishly at his back.

"I-I'm sorry my lord, I don't know what I was thinking.", he squawked, bowing low the the ground and hurrying after him.

"Oh look, my lord! We have guests!", Takken said in surprise.

"I see that", Kenshin merely replied, stating the obvious, but not at all surprised or enthralled by the new arrivals.

Calli came down the staircase a few moments after Kenshin, her steps light and graceful, but in a different way from his, almost like she was dancing to some unheard tune. She was wearing an oriental robe much like his, but hers was a cream color with golden stitched flowers and birds cascading all over it, pink cherry blossom petals adding a random accent of color. Smiling, she seemed to radiate warmth and kindness at the moment, a counter balance to Kenshin’s clearly serious mood. She wasn’t like most vampires, or even most people one would find in the haven, at least when it came to her outward expression. For her, the darkness was under the surface, but it was still there.
Reaching the bottom of the steps, she sighed a little at Takken, shaking her head. ”You don’t learn very fast, do you?” She asked, not harshly, but even she had stopped wasting kind words on the annoying imp.
Walking past him, Calli came up next to Kenshin, then looked surprised, before she smiled, seeing a familiar face. ”Faris, nice to see you’ve returned. How are you?” She asked, remembering the man she’d met out in the gardens what seemed ages ago. So much had changed, for everybody, it seemed, looking to the woman with him who wasn’t familiar to her, least not that she could recall.

Kenshin gazed, in a rather uninterested manner, at Faris, realizing this man had been a Tavern regular but he'd never really introduced himself properly. Faris' name had merely been brought of in coversations of old, a simple eidolon on the tip of his tongue. Kenshin quirks a furtive eyebrow, quickly asserting Faris' strength.

Yes, he was tall, but that was about it to Kenshin. And the scar Faris donned meant little to Kenshin, it only told him that Faris was a washed up warrior just like himself. But he knew well not to underestimate any demon, not even a young, couple-thousand-year-old punk like this one. Kenshin's cold and calculating exterior futher backed this assertion: Faris was nothing to fear at the moment.

As Calli strode down the grand steps and joined them, Kenshin surrendered a quick glance at the beautiful woman, lacking the aptitude to just simply disregard her presence. His lips parting for just a faint second, Kenshin pulled himself back together, relinquishing himself from depredating his new duchess right there on the spot, in front of his patrons.
Instead, he snapped back to reality, putting on a supposititious smile.

"Ah, so you know this man..." Kenshin declared, taking Calli by the waist and embacing her close. Takken tottered up next to Lord Kenshin, glaring at Calli from around the side of his leg, grumbling. It was clear that Takken didn't like the two together, perhaps the imp had a "master complex".

Calli noticed his reaction to her as she came over and smiled softly, her gaze bright with silent laughter as she knew what he wanted to do. At his question, Calli nods, squeaking a little as he pulls her close before smiling again, resting a hand on his chest and the other near his waist as she let herself lean against him a little. ”Yes, I do. So be nice... or at the very least, don’t be mean.” She tells him, knowing asking him to be nice to anybody other than her was a little bit of a stretch. Smiling, she gave him a peck on the cheek, totally ignoring Takken as she then looked back to Faris. ”And who is this you have with you?” She asks kindly.

A shadow flickers from one of the rooms setting off two of the ward alarms before flying down to the step in front of Kenshin as if flung down the stairs. As it lands before him he can just barely make out the visage of a ghastly pale and almost skeleton skinny figure who's silvery hair seems to have lost its luster and whose eyes seem to radiate maddness. The figure looks up at Kenshin then back at the blaring alarms before trying to bolt in its shadowy rush past Kenshin as if trying to run.

Faris frowned at the sound some distance up in the mansion, like a flurry of footsteps The tall demon chose to ignore it and instead rose from the chaise and took the hand of the small witch at his side. He took in Calli and the way she moved when with Kenshin. "It seems that she is to me in a way that may very well be similar that you are to this elder fiend."
Faris sighed as he watched the other Haven's lord take in his appearance. He sized up the man he had heard traveled through rifts in time and space, becoming one of the fiercest and most volatile entities ever to grace the tome of old in his own emperor's library. "I wish to tell you now, after restoring the emperor of Pangaea to his throne, I rather wouldn't take up a sword if I don't have to. I'm less a warrior than you think and admittedly twice as much a tired, aging coward as you can imagine. Being as you wish toward me is more than fine, no matter what your lovely mistress says." He looked down at the white haired lady standing much shorter than he, delicate, young and mortal. "My mate has done nothing to deserve any discomfort, so I ask that you extend at least neutral terms to her."
When he saw the shadow fling itself down the steps, he quirked a smile. It set of the mans alarms, and appeared to be running. However would the demon lord react to the intruder?

Kenshin's attention was surrendered quickly to Faris' words, an unquestionable respect quickly gained for this man of yore.

"Oh, the Emperor of Pangaea, how goes he? I haven't confabulated with his majesty in more than half a century at the very least. I hope he brings propitious tidings this time, gallantly" Kenshin recalled in a lesser sanguine tune , but more concerned facet. Kenshin had briefly been there in the ripest of times, right before the Uprising and shortly after the Rebellion, exchanging diplomacy between higher foreign powers of the time.

"Make yourself comfortable, my fellow immortal. Do not be fooled, I am much lesser a warrior these days, though not as cowardly as I once was when I inaugurated my first journeys to your homeland and the Great Beyond. Any two guest quarters you wish to have on the fourth level are yours as you desire, no need to be modest in your selection," Kenshin gallantly waved his free hand, offering his palace to Faris as if it were merely a lavish set of fruits on a golden platter.

As he turned on his heal to show Faris and the new guest to their chamber level, all Hell seemed to break out in that split second. Kenshin, holding steadfast and unwavering without so much as the blink of an eye. He shot a sideways glare apprehensively as the shadowy apparition. Shooting a quick glance upstairs, this uncalled for event left Kensin with a rather irked countenance. He broke away from Calli for a split second, using his hands to manifest a double-headed staff, which donned two shriveled heads, one of a man, and another of a woman. Thrusting the stave towards Takken, Kenshin preceded to give the startled imp instructions.

"Takken, seems like Loki is up to no good, follow him and make sure he does not cause too much mischief." Takken squeaked and caught the magical wooden staff, nearly dropping it to the floor.

"Uh, yes master!", the poor imp replied, disheartened at the thought of what trouble might come of the situation. Holding the staff above his head, he ran odd in the direction of the cadaverous creature of death.

Kenshin resumed walking with Calli, motioning foe Faris and his companion to follow.

Calli smiled a little as what Faris said seemed to win Kenshin over a bit. She wasn't surprised to hear that Kenshin knew this emperor. He seemed to know everybody. The world was vast, but at the Haven, it didn't seem that way some times. It was probably why she liked it here so much. With her mishap in time travel, the world was still an overwhelming thing, but not when she was here, with all its immortals and ties to the past.

As Kenshin turned, Calli moved with him, about to take hold of his arm, when she heard the alarms. Cursing, she turned to look, frowning as she saw the shadowy figure. While she couldn't see him perfectly clear, it wasn't hard to guess who would be up to such antics. Whenever anything odd happened in the Haven, best to just assume Loki had something to do with it. Sighing, Calli shakes her head, watching Kenshin go to deal with it.

When he had sent Takken off, Calli smiled and relaxed again, wrapping her hands around his arm as she walked with him. "So I haven't gotten a chance to see our new quarters yet, how are they coming along?" She asked curiously.

A grin split the face of the tall wolf, distorted by the harsh scars pulling one half of his face taut. "He's well, last I was there, and last I got a letter, he was even better." Faris easily switched the shoulder the bags were on, and then which hand of Yuki's he held.

"Perhaps I shall only take a medium-sized set of rooms. Yuki has a habit of traveling, and I am more than pleased to let her go about her merry plans. Most of the time, we may not need the room for two." Faris considered it, then asked, "Last I was here, I saw that some of your older tomes were a bit... decrepit. if you wish, I am fairly good at making new bindings, and I am happy to renew bindings for you, if you wish." He'd remembered to bring a new notebook, but when he made more, he'd best know how many covers he'd have to produce.

The staff came from nowhere. He'd zoned for half a second, for some reason, thought of the white static surrounding the mountains the Royal house sat on. When the little toad nearly dropped it, it smacked his knee, hard. "Whelp."

As he followed Kenshin and Calli towards the rooms, he smiled down down at Yuki murmuring, "I hope that we can paint, at least."

The shadowy death like figure becomes even faster as it starts to near the grounds just outside the Haven's front door. Even more of the shades can be seen rushing towards a young and vivid looking Loki. The shades seem to have come from every part of the Haven at once almost as if they had been summoned. The shade that Takken had been following speeds on till it merges with the young Loki.

"For too long have we been apart.....its no wonder it couldn't get past the alarms for my rooms...."

Loki smiles seeing the small imp running towards him with the staff. Just before Takken can quite make it to speaking distance of Loki he is gone as if he had been erased from existence. There is a slight gust of air from a few feet away from Kenshin as Loki appears at the two doors whose alarms are blazing. Loki uses one of his fangs to p***k his thumb and shuts the alarms off just as the doors liquify reaching out and swallowing Loki into the rooms on the other side before completely vanishing.

"Ahh home at last....but what interesting new faces....perhaps I shall see them all again and then again perhaps I shall see Kenshin and have a heart to heart....awww who am I kidding....shriveled up for so long near death the first thing I want to do is eaves drop on them"

Loki had been talking to himself but he closes his eyes carefully drawing a rune in his own blood over the lids before seemingly becoming nothing but air and following and listening to Kenshin and his guests.

(( scream lost my damn first post, AND Yokomota, i won't lie, you combined with that sent me on a "writer's block rage". c'mon dude, tone it down, try not to push the "godmod" limits. be a bit more conservative. good-a** job at using the "surroundings" though- the bloodprick and alarms))

By the time Takken had reached Loki, he had already begun wheezing from exhaustion. As soon as the poor creature saw Loki disappear, he dropped the magical stave to his side, sobbing in disbelief.

"That damn Loki! What is he up to?!", Takken grouched and moaned, throwing an awkward and violent little silent tantrum before turning around and heading back towards the great doors to the Haven. He dragged the staff in the grass and he trudged, knowing Kenshin wouldn't be too thrilled with this news.

Back in the castle, Kenshin saw the unfolding comotion as Loki's form materializes just shy of 20 feet away from him. Furrowing his brow, he hisses under his breath.

"I'll have a harebrained Loki later", he says, talking to himself as he continues walking with Calli. He would most definitely deal with that foul wretch later, but he had company to attend to at the moment

As they ascended the stairs, Kenshin adressed his lady's questions.

"Well, you've yet to pick out the new colors", he grins.

"We'll keep the white linens until then", he says, winking at her and kissing her lightly on the hand.

Upon entering the second floor hall and clearing a security threshold, Kenshin remembered Faris' concerns.

"Speaking of painting, you'll be pleased to know we're undergoing some well-overdue renovations within the castle. There's two adjacent chambers I can think of that are fairly sized, and haven't been laid to paint yet. You can use the larger bedrooms across the hall until you've finished painting and moved your furniture in." They rounded the third floor spiral steps, climbing the stone case.

"Faris, how suitable are you for restoring enchanted and cursed books, might I ask?", he inquires, glancing back momentarily.

"If you needed work, that might be quite an exasperating duty, as my collection delves far into the millions", as he finished, they boarded the third-floor corridor and looked for Faris and Yuki's bedrooms.

The tall demon frowned, and then considered his small mate's profile. If that tricky b*****d did anything to upset her, he'd have to chew his spine out and use the vertebrae to suffocate the b*****d. Or maybe drown him in the fluid.

As the older dark fiend spoke of the rooms he'd be in with his own consort, he couldn't help but think about how his aunt's step-daughter, Kaori had been here some time before. That b*****d Raistlin might have ended a traitor to the imperial throne had she ever brought him home. "Did those rooms belong either to a Kaori or a Raistlin, perhaps? I heard that they had left some time ago on their own little adventures."

Yuki was carrying the small cat, Otis in her arms now. He'd likely showed up from mouse-hunting in the gardens during the commotion to be sure the lady he protected was safe. "I am assuredly capable of fixing a good number of your tomes, and translating if it's needed. All good residencies have capable librarians. I am fairly fit to help with renovations if you need it, as well." Yuki glanced up, giving him a hard stare, as if to remind him of something. "Yuki is in fact traveling soon, so she'll be out a good amount of time while I'm settling us here, if that is fine?"

Loki had heard enough he lets himself drift over the railing for the stairs and down to the ground. He would need some time to think and what better way than to play some music on the piano. Loki materializes on the piano seat his fingers ready as he begins to play some of Mozarts famous pieces. The rich music seems to fill the hall as Loki stirs the wind making it carry the sounds from the piano as far across the mansion as possible.
