Welcome one, welcome all,
To the School for the Unusually Gifted. My grandmother started this school some time ago and she remains the Headmistress. If you've any questions, it's to her you'd be better off asking them. Mind your manners, though! She does not like crabby little spoiled brats in her school. She might just...You know. Do something to you.

The Building

Each dorm contains three beds, three desks, a large bay window facing the Emerald Isle, a large bathroom complete with mirrors, showers and sinks (not to mention bathrooms), a chest of drawers and three vertical mirrors. Inside the chest of drawers you will find your uniforms. You MUST wear these on school days and on study nights. One study night a week is required. You may wear your casual clothing at night and on weekends.

The classes are equipped for their needs and curriculum. More will be explained when you attend your first class.

The dining room is equipped like any other cafeteria. School meals will be served, of course with much more quality than public 'normal' schools.

The library is seperated in rooms. Magix, Magix history, Arithmancy, Magix Sciences and Plants in Mancy.

NO ONE is permitted in the Professer wing besides Professers.

A chilling wind blows through Damon's window. His fire threatens to die any second. His bones are tired and his eyes droop like those of a powerful man. His hair greys with each coming year, and each coming year his body becomes more frail. He has been reffered as a father figure, a leader, a teacher. He does not believe he can go on much longer, though. His days grow short as winter nears. His man-servent Breachan brings his nightcap in with a warmed bonnet and a smile, like every night.
"Good eve', m'lord," he says, smiling nervously.
"Many thanks to you, Breachan. I dare say I'm impressed you've kept with me this long," Damon replies. Breachan smiles again, a little overwhelmed by the comment.
"I would never leave your side, m'lord. Not for all the gold or women in the world," he says proudly. Suddenly a viscious gust of wind tears through the window and kills the fire. Breachan searches for a lamp and yells when he sees his lord and master lying on the cherry-wood floor, his head awash with blood.
"M'LORD!" Breachan yells out of habit, reaching for his bell to signal for help.
"NO, Breachan," Damon warns, his weary eyes now sightless. "Leave things as they are. No, LISTEN TO ME. You must leave here. You must not breathe a word of my death." Breachan shakes his head, confused and frightened. "Do not succumb to them, Breachan. It..." He stops suddenly, his breathing labored. "It has...begun..." Without another word, Damon's body falls limp, lifeless, his presence whispering around the embers of his fire before racing out the window to God knows where. Breachan races out of the room, keeping his master's death a secret until he dies three years later of an unknown cause.

A thousand years later, Damon's decendant Ursula feels a stirring in her blood. A fighting pressure that threatens to burst out of every pore in her being. A glowing recognition suddenly dawns on her, and she knows what she must now do. Damon's enemies draw near with every minute into the Change. She must provide a safe haven for those who were Changed, or all is lost. Death shall reign for all of eternity. There is no room for life in the face of the enemy...

A large bell tolls in the highest tower of Ursula's School for the Unusually Gifted, signalling the arrival of new students. Urusula smiles in her office. It is a familliar sound to her ears. She walks briskly to the main hall, the very air trembling in her wake. The doors finally close after the last flock of bewildered students.
"WELCOME," she booms. "Welcome all to the School for the Unusually Gifted."

Godric smiled nervously at the others in the hall. No one knew his name, and he knew no one's name. They were all like newborns, here. He sat at one of the large circular tables and stared at the lady who was yelling at the front.
At first, Godric had rejected his so called 'magical' powers. He did not want to believe it. He insisted to anyone that it was a gas leakage or a mirage. No one believed him. The boy's parents did not bother his parents, and the bully did not bother Godric once out of the hospital. They all said it was probably an accident, but Godric knew they were afraid of him. He knew they thought of him as an oddity. Even his parents talked to him differently. On this thought, he banged his fork on his table, making a large dent in the table and a blackened puddle of silver where his fork had once been. Godric buried his head in his hands and chastised himself.
"You promised yourself you weren't going to do that, remember? You promised yourself you wouldn't get angry," he muttered. Anger and defensiveness brought the fire out of him. He hated the fact that the only way he could defend himself was dangerously different.
"Stupid school," he mumbled. "stupid fire, stupid me..."

Tesse Semaire leaned back in her seat at the teachers table and took a good look at the new students. They all look so small, she thought idly, fingers steepled on the table in front of her. One of the students caught her eye - he had just melted his fork. That one would go far, if he learnt to control his powers.

In her ten years teaching at the school, Tesse had all kinds of students come and go. Some were willing and able to learn, some were afraid of their powers and some dismissed them completely. When she had arrived Tesse had been somewhat of an oddity. She had just turned fourteen and was afraid of most people - especially large and imposing adults. Small for her age, most people had ignored her except her Plants in Mancy teacher. But now here she was: slightly absentminded, still pretty small but one of the longest teaching adults at the school.

As the hall quietened, Tesse turned her attention to Ursula, standing at the front, who was about to speak.

As she was listening to Ursula begin her speach, as smile spread across Roxane's lips. Boy, was she ever happy to be here. Throughout her entire break she had studied the things that weren't tought here, mathematics and physics and all that jazz. Roxane, simply put, loved to learn. And since learning magic and mancy was more challenging, she enjoyed it more. However, her face darkened beneath her pretty golden curls as she remebered the challenge she would have to face this year.

The meeting had been that very morning. Her parents, Ursula herself and Roxane had sat in the headmistresses beautifully furnished office to talk about how Roxane was doing in school. Academically, she was a top student and the school couldn't dream of asking more. That was what Ursula had said. Unfortuately, she wasn't finished yet. She went on to explain that Roxane had basically no social life and didn't seem to care for one, either. True enough. However, the school was there to educate children in different ways, and how to live comfortably in society was something they tried to teach as well. And Roxane needed to open up and talk more. Join a club or two and meet people. In short, Ursula was asking Roxane to quit her loner days and make some new friends. And although this didn't sound appealing at all, Roxane had never backed out of a learnig challenge before.

So Roxane sat and listened and cheered up a bit. Who knew, perhaps if she looked at is as simply learning something new, it wouldn't seem so bad after all.
