Nhial liked the feeding grounds. Female-obsessed or not, he was still a teenage boy, and he still loved the fact that he could go down to the feeding pens and watch dragons stalking and killing their prey. Liking that sort of thing was part of being masculine, and when it came to being masculine, nobody was quite so acutely observant of what it entailed as Nhial was. Besides, it was just cool to watch, and it meant he got to meet people and talk to dragonriders.

Hopefully some of those dragonriders would be women, as well. Nhial had seen quite a few a few here and there, wearing their riders' knots and making fusses over their little greens (and blues, if he wasn't mistaken...such a strange, strange place Ista was, with women on blues). It was really quite darling, how there were so many girls with dragons. The first few he had spoken to hadn't been particularly interested in speaking to him (and he was pretty sure at least one of them might have been a man...), but he was optimistic.

They couldn't keep pretending they didn't want to see him forever. Eventually, they would break and admit their interest in him, and then Nhial would be all set. But for now, he would have to just keep starting up conversations with the women and their dragons. As he watched a young rider and dragon pair clear out from the feeding grounds, he nodded contentedly to himself.

With the morning drill concluded and the 'end of the sevenday' paperwork filed and waiting on D'tai's desk, Lyveana found herself at rare loose ends. She supposed she could head down to the Dining Hall, maybe meet Jevasi and share a wineskin, but really... she wasn't so sure she wanted to be in the company of too many people. Sitting back in her desk chair, she stretched her arms until she felt her shoulders pop, and released a deep sigh. Decisions decisions...

Or you could come with me. We can hunt. Ruinnth interjected quietly, a certain smugness overlaying her usually demure tone. Blinking, the greenrider looked over at the 'sleeping' dragon. "I could. Why the funny tone?"

There is nothing funny about being hungry. The green replied, but the same almost chuckle at the end belied the snappy word choice. Arching a brow, Lyveana pulled herself to her feet and stood with one hand on her hip, eyeing the dragon critically while Ruinnth climbed to her feet as well. "You are a silly beast." Was all she said as they walked out to the ledge together and Lyv vaulted aboard. Beneath her, the dark green only rumbled in something that could have been another half-chuckle, but otherwise held her peace until they were nearing the feeding pens.

I will eat lightly here. We can hunt down in Southern for felines after. Ruinnth finally said as she hovered for Lyveana to dismount. Startled, the greenrider stumbled as she hit the ground, but recovered enough to avoid hitting the dirt right on her behind. "What?!"

Didn't you want some new furs? The green persisted, backwinging to land next to her rider rather then head straight for the feeding pens. Neither were aware of Nhial's presence at the moment, as Lyveana was trying to absorb Ruinnth's crazy plan for their day.

"Yes, yes I did mention wanting to acquire some new furs, but really, feline hunting today? I haven't touched my bow in several sevendays Rui, and we are NOT going alone!" Wait, was she agreeing? No!

"Shardit! We have to PLAN that kind of thing!"

We are planning now.

"Scorch it Rui!"

Ah, lovely! The answer to his prayers! A beautiful (if somewhat old, but ah, whatever, you can't win them all) woman and a beautiful dragon and hopefully some excellent conversation. He wandered over to catch the tail end of the conversation, considered his approach, and then elected immediately to blunder on in the same way he did whenever he spoke to anyone. Not that Nhial thought of it as blundering. No, he thought of it as 'having a conversation'.

"Do I hear talk of hunting felines?" he asked in his smoothest voice, which was admittedly quite smooth. "It must be a dangerous occupation indeed, I'm surprised the weyrleaders allow such things, but so exhilarating! I would love to see the Southern Continent and hunt such great beasts!" The words were a steady stream, not rushed, but placed so that anyone who might have wanted to speak (like, say, Lyveana) would be completely unable to get a word in until Nhial was finished speaking.

It was a talent of his, this rambling on without letting someone else talk. "The weyr must be proud of you, if you go out all on your own with just this little beauty," compliment the dragon, Nhial, that's how you keep them happy, "to protect you. How noble! My name is Nhial, what did you say yours was, again?"

Annnnnnnnd there you go. Approach, windup, and pitch. Hopefully Lyv would be interested in this little verbal ball game. It would be so dreadfully disheartening if she wasn't.

Two sets of bright eyes swung around almost instantly at the intrusion, though one set whirled merrily in blues and greens, while the other positively seethed with frustration. Not that Lyveana was in any way perturbed by the welcome distraction, the lad had even made a good point, but she did dislike having other people around when she was arguing with her dragon.

Ruinnth, however, was thrilled. 'Little' or not, she enjoyed a compliment just as much as any other, even if it meant nothing to Lyveana.

Oh my....~

You are so naive, not only did he just insinuate that I need your protection, but that I would be brave to do so since you are obviously too dainty too handle yourself in a scuffle. Lyveana shot back, her eyes narrowing as she replied to the boy.

"I never gave it; I am Lyveana, and this is Ruinnth." She started, gesturing towards the green, who had curved her neck around to watch them at eye level. "And you are quite right in disbelieving that the Weyrleaders would allow such a thing. They would never allow a single dragonpair to ride out to hunt felines alone." She continued, shooting a glance back at Rui. Felines are dangerous, I'd want at least a few riders with us to watch our backs.

Well, he had gotten their attention, hadn't he? Nhial preened when the attention turned to him, puffing out his chest and standing a bit taller. Oh, she wasn't bad-looking at all, old or not. And it wasn't like she was that old, anyway. So yep, he could go on his merry way, no problem, no questions asked. At least...not by him. Lyv might end up with more than a few by the end of his whirlwind presentation.

"A pleasure to meet you, Lyveana and green Ruinnth," he said, giving a flourishing bow to first the rider, then the dragon as he listened to Lyv's explanation about hunting felines. "Ah, so you don't go out alone, but with a group? Yes, that was what I thought," he said with a sage nod. "So were you invited to be part of an expedition, then?" he asked, curiously walking up to Ruinnth. "She really is quite beautiful, you know. You're quite beautiful," he added to the dragon herself, remembering quickly that they were just as clever as their riders and making certain to get in on the favour of the female it would likely be easiest to win over.

He toyed with the idea of introducing himself again, just for the sake of getting this dragonrider to acknowledge his name, but decided that for the time being he wouldn't push his name on her. She probably wouldn't be particularly fond of him if he did, and he was aiming for fondness, more or less. "How often does this feline-hunting happen?"
