So I don't have children yet; but I am so into the whole cloth diapering thing; although it seems like a little bit of a pain when you go out or are on vacation. Then I came across these. It's like a hybrid! Half cloth half disposable.. and it actually breaks down! I'd probably end up just getting the cloth inserts and use seventh gen disposables while going out. BUT; still they are so cute! I have super sensitive skin so hopefully by the time I do decide to have children there will be more products out there that are dye and chemical free.

That's pretty neat. I might try that if I have a baby. I was tempted to use cloth, but that just seems like a pain to clean well. If I could compost instead, that would be great.

Cloth diapers aren't for everyone. That being said I definitely plan on giving them a shot whenever i get around to having babies.
They worked for hundreds of years before the invention of disposable diapers. It can't be all that bad.

we love those, we compost the liners, and when we're short on money we use pre-folds as liners, which works wonderfully too!

Oooh I completely forgot about these when I was thinking about diaper options for Lily... We ended up getting 12 of these, and use disposables when they're in the wash. I should so get these too though, because it's hard to keep up with the washing with so few cloth ones, not to mention the wastefulness of doing small loads.
I thought you weren't supposed to compost human feces, though? Is it different with babies?

eh, they also tell you not to compost meat and dairy, but i do that too. it mostly has to do with the disease that can be in adult human feces, however i've also heard of composting toilets, so i'm not sure if that's even bad, like the silly people claim about meat and dairy. hell, if elliot wants to go digging through the pile to find meat scraps, that's fine with me, i'll let him turn the pile for me that way, then! lol. (Elliot is my name for the possum that lives in our backyard, ive caught him in the pile before, rofl)

Good point, and I'm sure my healthy, exclusively breastfed baby has so many diseases in her poop... lol. I'm just paranoid because I'm not sure I know what I'm doing xp
