Kaveri had been dropped off and was now under the supervision of strange people, mostly female, for her care and make sure she didn't wander off with strangers. The naga felt that this was somehow redundant - to be left in care of strangers to make sure she doesn't wander off with strangers - oh well. Pales had assured her that he'll be back to pick her up after he was done picking some things up that were not for her eyes (gifts for her she assumed, and partially she was right). She didn't really get a good look at any of the kids, yet as it was now storytime and they had to sit and endure the goofy woman up front wearing a crown tell stories and use inadequate voices for the characters. Many of the children were extremely young and entertained but Kaveri felt bored.

..At least it was warm.

Intermission came soon, the attention span of the children tended to be short and storytime needed breaks in it. She was given a juice box and her cookie. That was okay, too. She 'stood' and slithered off away from a chatty little girl that was next to her that had taken to bragging about all the things she had and Kaveri was less than impressed. The girl was unperturbed and merely bragged at the child toward her other side leaving Kaveri unmolested.

Soon she settled next to someone at random and began to chew on her cookie and drink her juice with a bit of an ill temper not quite noticing anyone that is next to her.

Like all children, Emmet had grown a little bit older...and that meant that he'd outgrown all of the clothes. Which meant he needed new ones. Riley, ever the awkward parent, had it in his mind that he didn't need Emmet around to get new clothes for, well, Emmet, and had thus left the Leucistic child at the Mall's Daycare, just as they were winding down for a break from the story time. He was given a cookie and a juice box, and though part of him was glad to have a treat, there was a new part of him that was mildly offended by this gesture.

What was he, a toddler? Not anymore!

Oh well. Deciding to settle down all coiled up in a more secluded area and make as little noise as possible, Emmet ate his cookie in one gulp (true to snake fashion, he rarely, if ever, chewed his food) and mildly sipped at his juicebox. Occasionally his forked tongue would flicker out of his lips, testing and tasting the air for any familiarity. There were too many people in this area, way to many, and it was starting to get very uncomfortable for the snake-boy.

Red slitted pupils moved against the black iris and black sclera that made up his eyes, certainly being the only indication that he was looking around, until his attention and gaze caught movement beside him. He froze on instinct, watching the smaller girl settle next to him. His tongue flickered out of his lips, and with it came the sensation that she was similar to him; it made his gaze drop and...indeed! She had no legs!

That familiar feeling of nervousness, coupled with the usual feeling of nausea, bubbled in his stomach. He wanted to say hi to her at least...but she was new! She was someone he'd never gotten the chance to talk to before and quite frankly, new things scared him. But he was older now! He should be able to at least say hi to a stranger! ...Especially a strange little girl. Who was smaller than him.

...

It really shouldn't be this hard! Belittling himself mentally, Emmet gathered up all of his courage. Yes, he was going to talk to this little snakeling! "...Hullo." He said quietly, meekly. All that courage built up, and he could only muster a pathetic little 'Hullo'!? Geez, lame.

She was content to be quiet next to this other person that she hadn't quite gotten a look at. The smaller snake-like girl ate her cookie like a normal child taking small bite and chewing normally despite anything in her instincts that sometimes tells her to do otherwise. Having a father that was slightly touchy about how she looked and behaved seemed to affect her behaviorisms just a tad. Kaveri loved her Dee but sometimes it felt strained and she couldn't quite be herself, but she was very much certain that no matter how awkward their relationship was that he loved her too. Kaveri seemed aware of the stirrings next to her but still started a tad when he suddenly addressed her.

It could be because the older boy's nervousness was rubbing off on her just a tad or she just hadn't been expecting a voice to speak to her from nearby even though she had consciously known that there was someone next to her. Kaveri chewed on her cookie she was not even half way done the way she went about slowly devouring it but she was also starting to feel full maybe this boy would like the other half? She took a sip of juice to wash down the bits cookie before she replied turning to look at him, "Hi~."

She took a good look at the boy nearby and blinked a bit, "You're kin'a like me," she observed with gradual excitement. It wasn't very often she ran into people with her 'build'.

Emmet's gaze watched her eat her cookie, chewing it like a normal person. Was it not in her genes to eat it whole, or was it practiced? He had tried to eat his food by biting it, but he found it so awkward he ended up not eating all together! That was no fun for anyone, especially once he got lethargic and cranky.

"Y-yes." He said with a curt little nod, like he'd noticed too but didn't want to point it out too much. "But...uhm...you have...very pretty colours." Emmet said quickly, staring down at his hands, which had decided to twist together in a fidgeting motion. Yes, very pretty colours as opposed to his pure white scales that sometimes shined very light tones of blue. "I'm, um, Emmet...G-Grey. Emmet Grey."

She smiled at the compliment as her hand held onto her leftover half of a cookie. Kaveri always felt her own colors were a bit dull but that was the fanciful thoughts of a small girl that always wished for something more than she already had instead of being thankful, still she seemed to appreciate it with a soft, "Thank you," as she observed the boy carefully for a moment, "you have nice eyes," yes, she liked the color of them they were very lovely almost like rubies and the whiteness of his scales also seemed to be very nice but he probably heard that all the time, or so she told herself.

He introduced herself and Kaveri quietly looked down at her cookie before she offered it over to him, "Not very hungry, you wan' it Emmet? I'm Kaveri D'Arcy~," she said softly to the shyer snake-boy next to her. It seemed a waste to just throw the cookie away, Da and Dee would probably be disappointed if she didn't at least give it to someone else. Throwing things away was a waste.

"Thank you." He said curtly; it wasn't often he received compliments. Between a Father who was less than attentive nevermind enthusiastic, to an insane adoptive Sister who only opens her mouth to back hand you with her comments without meaning to, and finally to a kind-of-yet-not pair of Mother units who were either a) not around, b) his twin or c) involved with Riley somehow...compliments were tough to come by.

The pupils moved down to the cookie he was offered, and a lightly scaled hand reached out to take it from her. "Okay." He looked at the cookie, then looked at her...she had been eating it normally. Would she think it odd if he didn't? "Nice to meet you...Kaveri." Despite still trying to figure out how best to eat the cookie, and whether or not his instinctual methods would frighten the smaller snake, he managed to ponder a topic to continue their 'conversation'.

"What, um, no, How, was the story?" He'd missed it - not that he minded.

"Welcome," she said simply and she let him take her cookie that she had offered. It was a relief for her since she no longer needed to worry about actually finishing it though she had unknowingly given Emmet a whole list of concerns of his own to mentally struggle with. Oh well. She tugged lightly at the hem of her dress with a bit of a nod when said it was nice to meet her and responded, "Nice to meet you, too," with a smile. He was a nice boy though he was older; at least he didn't talk down to her even though she looked younger. She had found that many of the older boys had a very 'I am better than you' attitude especially when it came to younger girls. She didn't quite approve of that.

Kaveri scrunched her nose a tad when asked about the story, "It is okay, boring," she said simply with a small shrug, "they don' do very good storytelling here," she should know she lived a very good storyteller.

"I'zat so?" Emmet's tongue flickered out from between his lips when she told him about the supposedly boring story, his gaze moving over the crowd of kids and the workers there, settling everyone down after one of the kids spilt their juice. "Nobody's ever told me a story before." He admitted sheepishly; either Kaveri always went to these things, or she actually had an attentive parent. "It's too bad, though." The leucistic boy said softly, still staring at the cookie.

"Um. Sorry." He apologized in advanced. In regards to the fate of the cookie, instinct won over and the cookie was tossed into his mouth and swallowed whole...or at least as whole as it was given to him. So Kaveri's cookie was disposed of quickly, and he glanced sheepishly down at the girl before looking at his hands...and then again at the crowd.

He remembered how Romeo and his siblings reacted to the way he ate things...and he wouldn't blame the girl if she found it disgusting.

"It is," she confirmed as she watched him curiously she wasn't sure why he hadn't eaten the cookie yet maybe he wasn't hungry? Kaveri tilted her head when Emmet told her that he never had anyone tell him a story. Her lips pulled down in a small momentary frown before she smiled again having come up with a solution. She couldn't read real well yet but she could tell stories like her big brother, Suzu, did. Maybe not as good but she could still tell Emmet a story, right? "Yeah, it is but maybe I can tell you a story!" The naga didn't seem to really notice the hoopla over spilled juice that or she wasn't worried about it, after all there were adults around and they were supposed to take care of that sorta thing.

She tilted her head when suddenly Emmet apologized and was about to ask why when the boy devoured the cookie in pretty much one gulp. Her eyes widened a bit as she almost dropped her juice box but she managed to keep a hold of it if barely, "That was so......COOL." Kaveri breathed out suddenly 'standing' a bit more upright.

He blinked at her offer, then smiled lightly. "I would like that. I usually just read them by myself..." Emmet had learned to read early on; it gave him something to do and it was a wonderful escape, especially when Stella was being herself. It was good to just find a place to hide and read by himself. Besides, books were awesome! Especially the comic ones.

But then he ate his cookie, and Kaveri was staring at him. The first part of her sentence was expected...but the way she ended it! 'Cool' was not the word he was expecting to end that sentence! Well, it had ended that way once before...but it was a 'Cool! Do it again! Lets lookit that freak!' kind of Cool. No, Kaveri meant it honestly. It was COOL to her. Emmet was clearly taken aback by not only her words, but the way she straightened to be a little taller to look at him. His black eyes were wide, his red pupils moving frantically as he looked over her expression and the way she moved. This girl was so different than what he was used to!

"Um...Y-You're welcome?" Wow, smooth. Really, it was the only thing he think to say! "Ah...I mean, um, Thanks?" Well, there went that.

"I'll be happy to," she said with a small nod and it was true. She might not be good as Brother Suzu but she'd try.

Kaveri tilted her head when she said your welcome and then thanked her but she didn't go down in her pose and just stared at him for a long moment as if trying to figure out if she should tell him some sort of earth shattering secret of her own. Dee didn't like this ability of hers, at all. It was discouraged that she should do such things, at least not around him. It was frustrating but she didn't fuss about it because a happy Dee meant a happy Kaveri, because that meant Dee still loved her. She hoped. Kaveri knew Da loved her there was no question about it.

For a moment she seemed content to sip at her juice box until it made an empty sound and then gently set the box on the ground before she softly uttered a gentle 'ahem' signifying that she had decided on something, "I can turn into a snake," Kaveri said simply, plainly.

Sure it wasn't as neat as Emmet's eating trick but still...
PostPosted: Wed Sep 23, 2009 6:02 am

Emmet watched her, occasionally shifting his gaze away when he got too uncomfortable either being stared at or even merely returning the stare. His juice, despite still being held, was all but forgotten in favor of merely watching her, even going so far as to observe the way she put her empty box down. Huh, she was certainly a contrast between the girls he had met...then again, he'd really only met a few of them. When she made that noise his attention snapped to her face again, and he tilted his head a bit once she delivered her news.

"Wow, really?!" He was part snake, but he couldn't turn into one! That was awesome! "...Can I see? If, um, you don't mind?" The Leucistic boy was obviously very curious about this; part of him was ashamed to say he'd never seen a real snake up close; his experience with snakes were pretty much limited to the humanoid ones, or at least mildly anthropomorphic in his case. His tongue flickered out from between his lips, hoping she'd at least humor him...but he completely understood if she didn't. "Um, unless you'd rather not do it in public..." There were a lot of kids around!

Kaveri nodded slowly to confirm that yes she really could but paused a little at his next question. Part of her was prepared for it but another part of her felt shy about the entire experience all together. It was like showing something strangely intimate about oneself but another part of her reasoned that Emmet had pretty much done the same thing though his 'show and tell' was more or less out in the open. So it couldn't be helped.

Then of course was what she turned into. Snakes tend to scare a lot of people. Amber eyes flicked away from Emmet before she gave him a yes or no answer before she saw an indoor children's fortress made of large plastic walls and slides. It was large, it was colorful, it was empty, and it was mostly secluded while they all settled back into story time in which she was disinterested. She was sure Emmet would like to hear the story even if it was badly told but still...

"Sure," she said finally as she waved for him to follow her as she slithered off toward what she felt was a safe place, "mos' people are pretty scared of snakes so..."

Every now and again she'd pause to make sure no one noticed them and also to make sure Emmet was following her to the fortress.

The Snakeling waited eagerly for some sort of answer, and when she gave it, it was coupled with a curious gesture and a retreat to a plastic fortress. Wait, where was she goi---Oh! She wanted him to follow her! Of course she did. Humming to himself, he looked around, then placed his juice box on the ground...and with as much nonchalance as a nearly pure white creature wearing a dark red hoodie could muster, slithered after her, ducking into the fortress as well.

Once he was inside it he looked around, finding a comfortable looking spot and coiling himself on top of it, settling himself down comfortably. "Yah, I know." He sighed; yes, he knew about the fear of snakes. Despite having some human qualities, people were still afraid of him. It was odd!

He didn't want to make her do this if she didn't want to, so he didn't try to prompt her now that they were alone. Instead he 'sat' there on his coiled tail, his hands idly linking together on his stomach.

She nodded in response to his words, it was silly of her to think that he didn't know about the whole twitchy fear of snake thing most people had. Kaveri lived with a snake phobic person and thus knew it probably rather personally. Once he was settled she got settled too quietly coiling and then going quiet, still.

Kaveri was focusing herself and going into a bit of a trance for a moment until finally she began to shrink, even her arms seemed to slowly recede into her body and thus caused her dress to slowly collapse in on itself and onto the ground. The nagini had decided to worry about that when the time came. Soon from under the dress a very young King Cobra snake slithered into view and then 'sat up' to stare expectantly at the white Snakeling boy.

She couldn't quite talk or communicate in this form unless the other party 'spoke snake' so to speak and even then it was hard for her to communicate properly, like it was just out of her grasp.
