Physical Description: Coming up at 5’7’’, Vesyr is shorter than average and he doesn’t have a whole lot of weight to him either. Most of his duties at home included keeping up with the firelizard breeding charts, turning eggs, and just keeping an eye on things. Not exactly physically strenuous duties and it shows up in his build. His hair is brown. Not light brown. Not dark brown. Just brown. He keeps it cut short just to keep it out of the way and doesn’t really give it a whole lot of thought. His eyes are also brown but, hey. At least they’re pretty, right?
He tends towards very inconspicuous clothing. Firelizard breeding is fairly expensive so his family have always gotten by with secondhand clothes for the most part. Really, they’ll wear clothing until there’s not much left, which means he’s usually stuck with something slightly dusty and old looking. The only new thing is the orange bandanna he wears around his arm.
Personality: Well, the best way to describe Vesyr is this: he basically goes through life with the constant uncomfortable feeling that, at some point, somewhere, he might do something wrong. While not exactly shy, he does his best to put other people forward. If this means putting himself back, well, that’s fine with him. He’s also desperately afraid of the idea that someone might not like him, so he makes an effort to be nice to everyone.
Oh. And he doesn’t say ‘no’ very well. He’s a member of the Rising Sun alright, but that’s mostly just because his parents were. He hasn’t settled in well to this life of intense gang loyalty. Sure, he’s loyal… just not to the point where he’d let someone else get hurt, even emotionally. It’s very clear that he’s new to Igen Weyr because of this.
But, once you get around his quiet nature, he’s easy to get along with if only because he makes an effort to get along with everyone. Vesyr is also fairly intelligent and independent in his own special way. While he’s very socially dependent on the approval of others, he’s perfectly fine at working on his own. He’s well aware that others occasionally try to take advantage of his good nature, but his optimism makes him think, “But what if they’re not and they really DO need my help?”
History: Vesyr does not come from a long lineage of goldriders or bronzeriders. No, what his family has is firelizard breeders. At least, his family has two of them. His mother (Nelyn) and father (Veslyeshy - Weyrborn) were both Candidates at one point, but his father had some dragonhealing training in his past. Not very far, but far enough that he was competent with treating firelizards at least. His mother was really only Standing in for Gold clutches anyway. They both aged out and went into breeding firelizards instead. After all, Nelyn had a firelizard and Veslyeshy had the experience with the little beasts. What could go wrong?
Well, a lot. Let’s leave it at that. It took them a few Turns to figure out all the kinks in the system. During this time together, they fell in love. At some point, Vesyr was produced. He’s their only child, mostly because they have too many other things to deal with right now. There’s always lots to do with firelizards: keeping track of the families, trying to negotiate buyers (a fact made considerably easier, considering their link to Rising Sun), and keeping everything in order basically.
Vesyr was Searched very recently and has not Stood for any Hatchings yet. While he heard about the gang system from his parents, he still finds it extremely bewildering and mildly disconcerting. Actually, strike that. It’s very disconcerting, but he doesn’t have the guts to say so.
Pets: Mist
First of all, to explain the name. Vesyr isn't amazingly clever when it comes to names. He just tried to name his precious firelizard after the most beautiful thing he could imagine: a soothing mist.
While his parents have been breeding firelizards for turns, Vesyr never got one as a pet before. Basically, the egg was a present: a sort of thanks for all the work he put into raising the flits and, besides that, a congratulations present for being Searched.
In temperament, the firelizard is very playful. He's rarely ever standing still. Graceful and elegant, he is the very picture of firelizardly beauty. Now if only he could stand still long enough for someone else to see it... Think border collie. Mist is extremely hyperactive and loving. He's also pretty darn intelligent for a blue, and apt to turn that intelligence and hyperactivity on anything he can find if he's left to his own devices. This basically means that he cannot be trusted alone for long periods of time, especially not with anything he might eat, rip, tear, or destroy in some way.
Other/Talents: He knows a fair bit about firelizard care. He might be able to take care of simple problems, but his main advice would always be, “What are you asking me for? D: Go to a dragonhealer!”
