In the depths of the Bainbridge castle long corridors and shelves stretched into shadow. The library had been established by the castle's first occupant, and each successive noble had only added to the collection; each time, the books said something about the owner. This time the statement was plain.
The library had grown, and lived. The faint rustle of pages could be heard in the darkness; sentient books, held in their spots on the shelf by a few binding spells. Two ancient ebony desks stood in a quiet corner, tucked away in a hidden section, surrounded by leather-bound grimoires, books of magic.
At one of those desks sat Emma of Bainbridge, a mug of tea gently steaming next to her, a series of three-inch figures lined up before her. Each Battledome regular, perfectly cast in silver, eerily lifelike.
"They will find this place...", she muttered, waving a hand over the figures. They flared into violet light, dim and flickering. "They have the knowledge now...perhaps a few will be called here."
The enchantress and scholar dipped a iridescent quill into an inkwell, and wrote as she waited.

Her brow furrowed, and the glow around the figures brightened almost imperceptibly. "Perhaps I am being impatient..."

Another soft sigh, and she opened a book that had been lying on the desk.
"Ms. Rowling, you certainly do know how to hold a reader's attention...perhaps the call is simply being ignored." She whispered to herself as she opened the book, still waiting.

Skutz whistled at the number of books that surrounded his view. He wasn't the bookworm, but there might be a few gems in this collection for him. Skutz came to a small clearing of books where a couple of lovely seats were positioned, with a flickering of candlelight set the shadows into a dance. "Quite a collection you have here Lady Emma," Skutz said, walking in her direction, "the amount of knowledge is overwhelming, probably would take a couple lifetimes over for me to attempt to finish them all." He noticed the silver figurines, "nice handiwork as well. I assume everything is dandy today?" Dandy, what happened to Skutz's vocabulary? He hasn't used that phrase in forever and a year ago. "Maybe it's the atmosphere."

"Quite so." She said, closing her own book and marking her place with a leather bookmark. "The credit is not all mine, sir. The library is an entity unto itself, and was here before I was." She had played a very small part in its creation, although one mage's power was woven into the walls more strongly than the mortar itself.

"Well, that always happens when people put so much work, effort, and other things into something that means so much, "Skutz said, thinking of past memory of his teacher, "that something becomes it's own being, which is quite amazing." He looked up at the ceiling, mesmerized at the architecture that's still standing after many years of natural weathering. Skutz took a chair and stared at the figurines, lost in thought.

"Something on your mind?" She asked, interlacing her fingers and resting her chin on them, elbows on the desk. The library had been here for over a thousand years, and it would be here for a thousand more. The candlelight lent an even more mysterious atmosphere to the room, high ceilings fading into shadow.

"Oh," Skutz snapped out of his process, "no, no nothing, it's just when I'm in a mellow mood, I start learning things at an accelerated pace." He wiped his head, his heart was racing, yet he didn't know why.

"Is that so?" Delicately pointed ears perked up. Her power was stronger in this place, and she could hear his heartbeat and feel his...well, she didn't know what to call it. Anxiety, perhaps. Whatever it was, she could sense it.

"Yes, but it's not good for my nerves," Skutz said, "I feel too susceptible to everything around me in my mellow mood." He takes a couple of deep breathes to calm himself down, which surprisingly works. "I feel so weird in this state."

"I'll keep that in mind." She said, waving a hand in the general direction of the books. Light flared, and a warding sprang up; nothing physical, simply a containment field for the magical energy the tomes emitted.

Skutz looked around and saw the field extend. "I feel a bit better," he murmured as he got back up and looked for a book on the human psyche to pass the time.

"Five aisles down, on your left." She replied, directing him where he needed to go.
