Badassi chewed silently, his emerald eyes drifting across the Down, watching.
The grass hardly registered in his mind, as he was deep in thought, and he almost couldn't even taste it. The bulky, gray hued buck let the events of the past few months play repeatedly in his mind. He tried to make sense of it. He tried to go through each one and study it.
It was much more thinking than the single minded, determined buck usually did. Bracken-rah said something, he did it. He hardly ever doubted their leader.
Moonlight filtered through the clouds and through the leaves of the tree that stood proudly over their warren, casting eerie shadows about the attentive Owsla officer. His ears and eyes were on the alert, watching for elil and rabbits alike.

A dark shape flittered through the shadows, one of many as it moved quietly, carefully, over the Downs. The owsla officer was on his rounds, checking up with those on duty and scouting along the reaches of their land as he went. Pausing, dark ears tipped grey by the moonlight, pricked forwards attentivly before swiveling carefully, nose wrinkling as the faint breeze was tested. Finally, after a long tense moment, the muscular buck thumped one hind foot on the ground lightly, letting the next Owsla know of his presence before he approched.

Badassi's tattered ears twitched and swiveled at the sound of the single thump. He lifted one paw and struck it against the earth in response, signaling his own position and acknowledging the approaching Owsla. His sharp eyes took a moment to distinguish Blackthorn from the surrounding, evening shadows.
The night was certainly quiet...
A distant hoot caused his ears to twitch and his eyes to search the skies, but the crier was far off in the distance and would not be a threat...
For the moment, at least.
He shifted himself, dispersing the thoughts that gathered between his ears, and moved slowly to meet the other patrolling buck. He had seen little so far, this night, but perhaps Blackthorn had seen something in a further area of the Down.
"How goes?" He voiced quietly upon nearing the black and brown buck

One ear flicked forwards again at the answering signal and the dark buck moved forwards, shifting from shadow to shadow as he made his way over to the other owsla. The hoot froze him mid-step, ears swiveling as he sought out the danger and determined its threat level. Once satisfied the elil was far enough away to be a non-threat for the time being, the shadowy male moved forwards again, arriving at the paler buck's side silently.
Ears pressing back Blackthorn nodded a greeting, amber eyes never ceasing their sweeping of the immediate area.
"Well enough, considering. But there is something going on down the way.. That Ninebark has started up again. I was hoping you might come along while I deal with him." The dark owsla officer sat back on his hind, one ear cocked backwards towards where the scrapes were located, as if he could still hear the unearthly wailings from the strange, unsettling rabbit.

"Again?"
A soft sigh left the large rabbit as he digested the news from his fellow officer. The odd one from the party that had arrived some time ago still set him on edge. The diseased, in general, upset the buck...
But that one, he was odd. He was thankful the lop-eared wonder had settled so far away from the main burrows, but sometimes even that was too close for his comfort. Why did Bracken-rah even let them stay to begin with?
He blinked his eyes and shifted his claws as he banished the thought from his mind. It was not his place to question their chief.
"Well, I suppose it could be worse. I sometimes wish an elil would hurry up and finish him off. He'd been quiet for some time, now. I guess it was only time. Thank Frith Sparrow hasn't been acting up, lately, too." He brought up the other, small buck that often had odd little outbursts. The two bothered him deeply.
"I will come with you. Hopefully he will settle easily."
He listened to their surroundings for a moment, his nose and eyes searching for danger, then began to move himself silently down the side of the Down.

Blackthorn nodded his head, knowing no further words were needed for the other officer to understand. The lop's ravings had always been strange but recently they had gotten stranger, and the last thing they needed was for the youth's hairbrained rantings to upset the warren.
Amber gaze returned to the paler buck as he spoke, Blackthorn giving a faint nod. He would not wish any rabbit to meet their end at the claws of an elil, but the russet ex-Hlessi certainly made it difficult for the owsla. Casting his mind to the other briefly he flattened his ears. "That is the last thing we need.. more wild stories of bad winds and funny feelings... Come on then." He sighed, not looking froward to the confrontation that was sure to follow as they delt with the strange youth.
Turning Blackthorn glanced back briefly before setting off an an easy lope across the down, headed towards the scrapes where the strange one had choosen his burrow.

He moved swiftly over the already too familiar path towards the lop's burrow. His ears twitched as he could already hear the other rabbit's ravings. Oh, he was definitely loud this evening and the Owsla was just thankful that not many rabbits were out to siflay at this time. He struck a paw against the earth as he neared the rabbit, who was sitting just outside the mouth of his small burrow.
Ninebark turned a wild, pale, pink orb towards the approaching officers. It was clear from how he held his trembling body and the fear smell that seemed to surround him that he was very close to going tharn, but not close enough to fall to the earth uselessly, as Badassi would of preferred.
"YOU! Y-y-you don't, don't, don't come near!" He wailed piteously as he stumbled back a couple of unsteady paces, though he hardly even seemed to be focusing on them.
"DOOON'T! It hurts, huuuuuurts! The blood! Too much, too much, TOO MUCH! Always, it's coming!" He practically sobbed.

Blackthorn winced as the youth carried on like some kind of elil-possessed madthing. Really.. what was wrong with him and that other one, Sparrow? He couldn't figure it out and was grateful that such was not his job, however he did wonder if maybe Bracken-rah might consider setting up a seperate branch of owsla as guards over the two nutjobs. It would save him having to deal with them like this...
Padding round Badassi the dark buck glanced back at the grey officer with a raised brow before reluctantly padding forwards towards the quivering russet male. "Oi.. kid. Quiet down now." He ordered in a gruff voice as he hopped closer he hesitated from touching the youth, not at all sure if it would set the kid off even worse, but needing to do something about him.

The large, russet buck backed away anxiously and fearfully. There was a consciousness beneath the panic. He knew well enough were this might go, but the strange feelings that guided and practically forced his current actions were well at work and he could hardly control the fear within himself. At his former warren he had been stomped on a number of occasions, but eventually was left to his own devices, seen as harmless even though he was on occasion a wee bit frightening.
He just knew he would get himself torn up, yet his maw continued to flap and his voice continued to belt out of his throat.
"Can't, CAN'T! It's coming! You have to stop it, have to stop it, have to stop it, please!" He brushed his paws over his face in a nervous fashion and peered at Blackthorn from between them.
"Elil will make bleed, make bleed bad! I seen it! I seen it! OH! The pain!"
"Knock it off, hlessi!" Badassi's voice broke through Ninebark's caterwauling, trying to bring a stop to it all. It was clear from the gray buck's hesitancy that he, too, was uncertain about just what to do with this situation.

Blackthorn frowned, glancing back at Badassi as the grey officer moved up along side him. "For Frith's sake.." Leaning forwards the dark owsla cuffed Ninebark roughly alongside the head, though considering what most would do to the russet buck, it was down right gentle. "If you don't quiet down I'm going to have to force you.. so shhhhhh!"

The russet creature stumbled backwards, nearly falling and flailing, and let out a strangled sound that sounded much like a yelp and a yip combined. His reddish eyes snapped shut and he cowered away from the two stern bucks. The pain had been little, but it was obvious that it had startled him a great deal.
"Too much! Too much! Too much!"
"Then hurry up and get moving, 'else you'll get it a second time. Right then, get moving." Badassi piped up grouchily and shifted towards the shivering seer. Though his movements were aggressive, he did not actually expect to have to strike the creature.
"Go on!"

"Go on now. Back to your burrow." Puffing himself up as he sat up on his hinds he glowered at the cowering male, lifting a paw towards the distrubed rabbit. "You're disturbing the warren, go sleep it off."
Really... what diod they expect him and the other owsla to do about these rabbits.. the madness was a much a mystery to him as it was to the warren in general.. Sighing he frowned at Ninebark. "Move!"

"But-butbuuuuuut!" The lop eared rabbit seemed to quake as his pale pink eyes watched the bucks fearfully. He certainly didn't want another cuff to his head, but he wanted them to know the danger that was ahead of them. Even though he didn't know exactly what it was.
"Go!" Badassi grunted firmly and sent a paw at the shaking lop's head, catching him to one side none-too-gently. No claws were used and the pop was enough to get the point across yet again.
"Go back to your burrow, as we told you, noise-maker. Surprised you haven't attracted any Elil, the way you are carrying on."
"Eeeep!" He ducked low and groomed his face hastily, clearly upset, but dropped to all fours and retreated a few hops away, nearer to his burrow.
"Only trying to help. To help. You see."
