The mounts were donated by taxidermists and alot of the animals were ones hit by cars or their carcasses were found. So the nature center says anyways.

Now the live ones:

None of the turtles had basking lights, nor did they have uvb lights. All the fish tanks and the aquatic turtle tanks were really that grody looking.
The poor iguana had no heat light on, i couldnt tell if the ceramic heat emitter was on.
stressed

Video of Axel the macaw. When he would say his name it sounded like he was saying "a*****e" but when i tried recording all he said was "pretty bird"

They used to have ferrets and gerbils but i didnt see them anywhere this time. They prolly died.

Massena, NY

I dont go there often because they close at 4:30 and i dont get done work till 6. I just happen to be out that way because the wildlife festival was down the road from them and it ended at 4. I havnt been there since last year but the animal care is pretty much the same.

The people that run the place get supplies from the petstore i work at (well the parent store). They fed the ferrets Kaytee Fiesta ferret diet stressed

I stopped into the store last night to show the guy workin the pics of the animals, and i told him about the nature center and he said they were in to get a new bulb for the iguana but the store didnt have the right wattage, so my coworker told them that they could get a lower wattage to have on him until the new ones came in so the iggy atleast had some heat, and they frickin refused and said they will wait. scream
The people have been told about the uvb lights and the baskin lights for turtles and they still wont get em. I was venting about it to my boss, when i went to the nature center last year and he said they go through alot of turtles. I didnt realize since i rarely go there but there was alot less turtles then i remember there being. I wish i knew where they were getting their funding from , i would write to them and tell them that they dont give proper care to the animals.

poor things. ill admit that when my heat lights die ill wait if the store doesnt have the right wattage, but i always keep heat packs around the house and at most my guys only go 3 days without heat.
do they at least dust with d3 since they dont use uv?
