Nestled in the Appalachian mountains, Firebrand Ranch is a relatively well known horse ranch and farm, with a history stretching back half a century. Prize winning racing horses are bred here, and the Ranch prides itself on the quality of its farm produce.

However, Firebrand Ranch has a side to it that the public is wholly unaware of. Situated to the south, the real ranch is exceptionally well hidden in a deep valley nearly three days trail ride from the main ranch.

And it is here that the real business and purpose of Firebrand Ranch is, because, as the saying goes, here be dragons. The ranch specializes in the care and raising of dragons, the staff carrying on the traditions of the Guardians of medieval times.

Every five years, young people around the world are contacted by the Ranch, singled out for traits suited for life around dragons. These lucky youths are offered a paid trip to the ranch, and after a short observation period, those meeting the approval of the ranch owner just might be introduced to the real ranch.

OOC INFORMATION: The roleplay opens as your characters are arriving at the ranch, having flown in from where ever on the globe they live. The drive from the airport to the ranch is about an hour, and each character has arrived individually, their things taken on up to the lodge by the driver, as they are dropped off at the Main Office. Here they will shortly be greeted by a member of the staff, and a tour of the facilities will commence.

Name: Blaine Miller
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Appearance: An average height guy, Blaine is slightly tanned, with outrageously red hair and blue eyes. At first glance, he seems to be an ordinary guy, aside from the red hair, which most people dismiss as dyed. However, those who spend enough time around him begin noticing the oddities about him, the unnatural grace with which Blaine moves, the way his hair color never fades or brightens the way dyed hair would,
Personality: A straightforward guy, Blaine has no problem stating his mind, and is often brutally honest, not caring if his statements offend others. It's not that he doesn't care, he simply believes it best to be upfront about everything.

At least about everything except for the ranch's true nature. Blaine is fiercely protective of the secret, and like his father and grandfather, would do anything to protect the ranch and the dragons.
History: Though Blaine and his family have owned Firebrand Ranch since it was founded, the Millers have always been notoriously reclusive, and Blaine is no exception. The ranch owner rarely leaves, only sometimes attending races and other events his horses have entered.

Blaine was raised on the ranch, and so considers it his home.

In fact, the reason Blaine is so reclusive is that he is not what he appears. Blaine is in fact one of the dragons residing on the ranch, the oldest living dragon there. His real name is Brealier, and he has run the ranch since before it's official founding, long before assuming the human identity of Blaine Miller. He has always been the first dragon potential new recruits meet, and seems to take a fiendish delight in scaring the unsuitable candidates off.
