 Though she was created from a strawberry plant, Apple Blossom was most fond of, well, apples. As such, the smell of apple blossoms tended to take over her natural strawberry scent that wafted from her delicate wings.
On this particular day, Apple Blossom found herself wandering along the edge of her pasture, though it was not clear to the eye where the border was, she knew.
After a lap or two around the border, she found herself rather bored and, as she so often does, began to wander towards the horizon, the sun high in the sky, the birds chirping... And her pasture-family nowhere to be seen. Boring- as always.

 It was a hot day, today. Sensis found himself sitting under his usual tree, enjoying the feel of the grass as it swayed back and forth in the wind, tickling his legs.
At least he hoped it was the grass.
Could be bugs, ants maybe. He wasn't sure and there was no way for him to tell, so he thought to himself, "It is grass." and continued to go about enjoying the rest of the day as best he could.
Cocking his head to the side slightly, though he could see or hear, he could definitely smell and there was a scent blowing along with the breeze that he had never smelled before. Apples... No wait, strawberries, or a mixture of both? Whatever it was, it smelled wonderful and Sensis slowly rose on all fours and started to walk forward carefully, counting in his head with each step he took.
It was the only way he could keep track of where he was going and how far he was from his spot.

Bobbing her head gently with each step, Apple Blossom kept her gaze down, watching exactly where she was walking, not wanting to trample on any insects or... Small animals.
However it also made it much easier to run into things- or ponies, should that be the case. She continued walking, keeping a close eye on her hooves, avoiding little lady bugs and grasshoppers and... Ran herself right into another pony!
Apple Blossom let out a tiny shriek and scrambled back onto all fours, having had fallen backwards, the entire time crying apologies, her words meshing together in her haste to mend her mistake.
"OhmygoodnessIamsosorryIdidn'tseeyouthereandIwasjustavoidingthebugsand..." she paused and stared. Of course she knew it was impolite to stare, but she couldn't help it. The pony she had ran into seemed to have its eyes and ears sewn shut somehow. Or... Something.

So concentrated on counting his steps, he didn't notice the scent of apples and strawberries getting closer until he ran right into it.
He stumbled back slightly, almost falling to the ground but regained his balance just in time to right himself and stand up straight again.
He sniffed the air a few times, the smell was so strong now. Lowering his head, he continued to sniff the air, walking forward carefully until he touched what felt like hair with the tip of his nose. It was definitely where the smell was coming from, what it was though he wasn't sure and that startled him enough to cause him to step back again quickly.

Apple Blossom's voice caught in her throat and she watched as Sensis walked towards her. And continued to watch until he touched her and then step back.
"What..." she fell silent again and then, "Of course he can't hear me. That would be far too easy." she rolled her eyes and took another step towards him, "Then..."
She frowned to herself and tilted her head this way and that, trying to figure out how to speak to this pony. She leaned forward slightly and her soft antennae brushed against his face in the same instant that her nose touched his.

He felt what he though to be a piece of hair, tickling his forehead and then felt the tip of Appleblossom's muzzle pressed against his and he knew then that is was another pony that he had bumped into.
Still a bit wary, his tail swished back and forth out of nervousness. He wasn't quite sure what to do or how to act right now, he had never been in a situation like this with another pony, mostly because the ponies in his pasture were afraid of him.
He kicked at the grass gently with one of his front hooves and perked his ears up before taking in another deep breath, the smell of apples and strawberries was all around and so wonderful. How badly he wished to be able to see where the smell was coming from, the pony that was standing in front of him.

Apple Blossom was so surprised that the other pony didn't jerk back from her touch that she did, herself. She stared mostly out of curiosity, but not at the pony's differences.
She wanted so badly to communicate with the pony but wasn't sure how to even begin to try that. When he took a breath, Apple Blossom tensed slightly, wondering if he could, in fact, talk! If he could not see or hear, hopefully he could talk.
She craned her neck upwards and, without warning, tugged on a stray strand of his mane- an attempt to earn a vocal reply. It was not hard, just enough to get his attention.

The tug on his mane startled him slightly but he stood still, lowering his head slightly, letting out a shy, quiet mumble.
"You're...eating my hair."
No one really ever spoke to him, they figured since he was deaf and blind, he was probably mute as well, but that wasn't the case. He could talk, he was just very shy and since he couldn't hear what other ponies were saying to him anyway, he decided that there was no point in speaking.
"I'm sure it doesn't taste very good."

It was terribly cute when he spoke. He was so shy and timid but he spoke clearly and that was somewhat of a relief for Apple Blossom.
She let go of his hair and then, stepping closer, pressed her muzzle against his cheek and shook her head left and right slowly, a silent "No."
"Gosh, this sure is going to be difficult." she mused softly, to nobody in particular. She wondered, suddenly, if he had always been blind and deaf, or if it had been something that occured later in life.
She lifted her muzzle and touched her nose just beneath his sewn closed eye, just barely touching one of the stitches.

He stood very still, he had never been so close to another pony, especially not like this.
He felt the shake of her head and then her muzzle pressed against the spot just underneath his eye, or at least where his eye would be if he had them. Most of the time he didn't mind his disabilities but this was one of those times that he wished he were normal like the others.
Not sure if he should pull away, he instead leaned in closer toward her and began to speak again very quietly.
"They been like this for as long as I can remember, my eyes and ears. I'm not sure why, but there must be a reason for it."

Eyes widening slightly, Apple Blossom leaned back slowly to take another close look at him. She did not know how to speak to him but wanted to at least tell him her name.
She stood still, thinking. Fortunately for her, her name was words, instead of an actual name, and should be easier to inform him of what it was. She fluttered her delicate wings- spreading the scent of strawberry in particular- as she peered around at the surrounding area.
An idea having struck her, she walked carefully behind him and took hold of his tail with her muzzle. She wasn't sure if he'd understand but decided it was worth a try. She took his tail in her mouth and pulled carefully in one direction.

The smell of strawberries flowed through the air again and it brought a small smile to his face, which quickly disappeared when he felt a teeth and a tug on his tail.
Not sure if the other pony was still in front of him, he cocked his head to the side, turning slightly. "...Is that you? I sure hope so."
Carefully he continued to turn, pulling his tail from her mouth gently. Instead he walked forward, bumping into her again, pressing himself against her so that they were standing side by side and he could move along with her.
"Lead the way, slowly please."
Still a little wary, he wasn't even sure if he was talking to the same pony or maybe their were two there all along. Perhaps they were leading him into some kind of trap? Why would they want to trap him? That would be silly. He'd just have to trust the other pony.

It hadn't even occured to Apple Blossom how vulnerable the other pony actually was; In an attempt to comfort him she nuzzled her cheek against his, her antennae bouncing so softly on the top of his head that he may not have felt it at all.
She took the first step slowly and then the next step, then the next... Trying to find a careful rhythm to walk to so as not to be too fast or too slow. She walked this way for a few breaths pushing towards and pulling away from him in an attempt to not run him into anything.
It was not long at all before Apple Blossom stopped, they were beneath an apple tree in full bloom, just a step or two away from a particularly low branch that was covered in the beautiful blossoms. She wished she could share the sight with the mysterious pony, but surely his sense of smell was much greater than hers.

Trotting along side her carefully, he tried his best not to step on her hooves her bump into her side to roughly.
Letting out a small sigh of relief when he felt her cheek against his, he knew this pony could be trusted and which each step, he let his guard down a little more.
Suddenly their walking came to an abrupt stop and the air was filled with the fragrance of apples, another small smile appeared on his face for a brief moment as he took in a deep breath. "I've been smelling apples all day today and strawberries."
He kicked a hoof against the ground absently, his tail swaying back and forth as he leaned toward her, speaking quietly.
"Is the smell coming from you?" Ah, a question.. Why did he ask a question when he knew he wouldn't be able to hear the answer. He though for a moment, his ears perking up slightly before he spoke again. "Tug on my hair once for yes and twice for no."
He nodded once, problem solved for now.

Apple Blossom let out a little squeak when he mentioned he'd been smelling apples and strawberries. Sometimes she worried other ponies wouldn't like the smell quite so much as she did.
She shimmied over and took a strand of hair in her muzzle, pulling gently just once before stepping back. She craned her neck as high as she could and was juuuust able to reach the lowest ball of blooms- then tugged them off.
Holding the blossoms in her mouth, Apple Blossom pressed them against the other pony's nose and then pressed her own nose to his. She repeated it once more and then waited. It really was nonsensical but she had no idea how else to do it.
