Café by day, Club by night.

The sun had just peeked above its bed of clouds, signaling to Eyris that it was time to start another busy day. As the citizens rose to meet this new day head on, shops began to open up, each with their own signs out front advertising their own unique services. They were all mundane though compared to the new café in town that would soon open. The two story building had previously been home to a family run inn, which had suddenly gone out of business and was forced to sell when the owner died. It had been on the market for over a month, when out of the blue a black haired, blue eyed girl, noticed the building and bought it for a large sum of gold.

It had been run down when she acquired it, but many weeks later it had been dolled up to look even better than it had in the past; easily overshadowing all the other shops in the area. With its almost shining, white brick walls, it stood apart from the dull red the other buildings had been made with. Dark green ivy traveled up the walls in various places accenting the walls even more. The two long windows out front were made of a special glass that had been blown with the help of Eyris’ resident dragons. From red to pink they faded, casting a soft warm glow into the café when the light ran across its surface. A small sign lay in the corner of one of the windows that read, ‘Do not lick the windows.’ Above the doors and windows was a large red awning to protect customers from either rain or sun and above that was a large sign written with black letters that read ‘Hostess Club.’ Behind the store was a patio that had extra tables with umbrellas over each one, for outside seating to accommodate more customers during the day, since only the first floor was the café. The first floor was the only floor renovated; the second floor was still made up like an inn, and had not been changed at all.

Thump. Thump Outside the front of shop were two people, both vastly different from one another. The first was the one currently trying to hammer a nail into the door so they could hang a sign on it. She was the owner of the shop, a young adult, with long, curly black hair and bright blue eyes full of life. It was impossible to mistake her for a normal person though, with her furry, black, fox-like ears and tail. Nor did she have normal hands or feet, both being adorned with claws, showing she was in no fact human. The other person appeared to be more normal. He had long, bright blue hair and eyes to match. Though, his clothes and voice made his gender one that was hard to discern. To some he might appear a man, to others a woman. It was no well guarded secret the gender of this person, but it often seemed to be.

“Hey. Why don’t you transform and give me a hand here, Kris?” the fox-like girl named Hatmon asked as she pulled both the nail and the hammer away from the door and sighed, only to reveal all her pounding away had only put a small dent in the dark, polished wood of the door. The one known as Kris simply turned his head to the side, as to look at something coming down the street, or as Hatmon interpreted pretend he hadn’t heard anything. “Fine, just for that, I’m going to make sure you get appropriate punishment later.”

As Hatmon once again brought the nail up to the door, she raised the hammer ready to put all of her strength into this task. As she started to swing the metal object towards the nail, a shadow blocked out the light causing her to stop mid-swing. She wasn’t even given the chance to utter a word, before a strong, green claw pounded the nail the perfect distance into the door with a single swing. A gasp escaped her lips as the green claws wrapped around her body and spun her around, before setting her back down on even ground. “Ganon!” Hatmon purred happily, pleased to see the lizard man. “Thanks for your help, as always.” A smile lit up her face as she looked up to meet the man’s eyes, before she turned to Kris and frowned at him. “It’s almost the big day, so let’s go out and put our plan into action,” Hatmon’s hand swung back and hung a sign on the nail. As the three walked off in their separate directions, the new sign swayed lazily from the nail. In freshly painted black letters, the sign read, ‘Help Wanted.’

Rules

Rule One: Read the intro posts. You'd think it'd be common sense.
Rule Two: This is a semi-literate roleplay, meaning I expect at least a paragraph out of each post, though more is always welcome.
Rule Three: Minimal one-liners; I know writer's block happens to the best of us at times, but I don't want to see a whole page of one liners!
Rule Four: Respect other roleplayers, and especially the Hostesses. If you're especially rowdy or rude Ganon reserves the right to throw you out of our establishment.
Rule Five: Try to post at least once to twice a week. I understand that we all have our personal lives outside the internet, but no one likes a dead rp. If you're going to be gone for an extended period of time, please contact either me or Soaring Raven Vika, so we're not sitting around wondering where you've gone.
Rule Six: Use some form of parenthesis or brackets when in OOC.
Rule Seven: I'm in charge of this roleplay, and so is Soaring Raven Vika. We reserve the right to change the rules at any time.
Rule Eight: Themes are special events in which the Hostess club dresses up a certain way for a single day to help promote the shop and attract more customers. We're always open to suggestions for themes. (This isn't really a rule.)
Rule Nine: Minors, those under 18, are asked to leave at 7pm, when the night menu goes into effect.
Rule Ten: Don't lick the windows. We mean it.
Rule Eleven: Generic citizens are allowed to be roleplayed as long as they don't become so heavily detailed that they become OCs.
Rule Twelve: If there are things you want added to the menu, simply inform me, and I will add it if I think it seem appropriate.

September 20, 2009 - Officially Open for Business
September 20, 2009 - Opening Day Theme: Maid
PostPosted: Sun Sep 20, 2009 8:03 pm

User ImageHatmon’s tail swished lazily as the chimera walked down the carpeted stairs into the area that was the domain of Eyris’ first Hostess Club, and café. Others might attempt to copy it, but it would never match the original. The original had to open first though, as soon as the bell chimed, signally the one o’clock hour and the grand opening of their establishment. Some of the Hostess Club’s fellow members had yet to arrive, while others loitered around doing as they pleased waiting for the work day to start.

One of Hatmon’s furry, clawed hands smoothed over her short, black skirt, as if to check if all was neat and intact before they opened up. Since today was their grand opening, the members had decided there couldn’t be a more perfect day to have their first theme; maid day. The decision had brought about a lot of excitement, what with the choosing and making of the outfits. Everyone had been involved in the process, and now everyone would get to show it all off on this fine day.

As the bell, signaling the start of a new hour rang loud and clear through Eyris, Hatmon gave the shop one final glance, before she turned on her heel and closed the distance between her and the door. Already customers had begun lining up outside, and though it was not her job to act as a receptionist, it was her job to open and close up each day. The lock clicked as Hatmon swung the door open, ringing the little bell that had been attached to it. The people that had been waiting started to pour in as they headed towards the receptionist’s desk so that they might be seated. Hatmon smiled as the last of the customers that had been waiting piled in, before she flipped the sign on the door over so that it read ‘Open.’ With the task of opening for the day complete, she let the door, close behind her as she went back inside to attend to her own duties.

Blossom was humming as she adjusted her headband, her smile bright. Not everyone had arrived for work yet, which was worrisome--Hatmon was about to open, for goodness sakes!--but she knew they'd better get here soon. If they didn't want to get chewed out, that is. Blossom clipped on the purple bands to her headband, then headed into the main room. Her skirt swished around her knees, feet barely making noise on the floor.

Blossom brushed her bangs off of her face. "So, what--" she started to ask. Hatmon hadn't heard her, though; she approached the door, opened it, and flipped around their sign. Okay, then. She trotted over to the counter near the kitchen and picked up a small pad and a pen. Okay, now she had her pad, now she could take orders. What kind of waitress would she be if she couldn't do that?

This'll be fun, Blossom thought, smiling. It was nice to be a mercenary and help people, but this way, she could spend less time away from home and more time in town. It was better to keep connections, and she could train more often with Clang and Chickenwire. Win-win situation!

~Ninian~

Ninian stood in front of the bathroom mirror, futilely trying to tug down her skirt. As far as she was concerned, the blue, lace covered fabric did not cover everything a skirt was supposed to, even though hers reached to just past her knees. After wearing a floor length dress for so long, to wear anything shorter felt . . . weird. Though honestly, everything felt weird, even just being back in Eyris again.

She shifted her headband, crafted to match her skirt and blouse. Tied around her head as it was, it didn't shift much; hopefully, after she had been working for a while, it would still be in place. She was careful not to hit her eye; even though it had been some time, the bandages weren't yet ready to come off. Fortunately, the bandages on her arms were gone, as were the ones on her feet and legs. As long as she was careful not to re-injure herself any time soon, she would be okay working.

A final adjustment to her apron, and she was as ready as she'd ever be, she hoped. Ninian had taken the job as a waitress in part to have a job for herself, but also to, in some small way, give back to Eyris. And who knew, maybe it would be fun. At the very least, it would give her a chance to talk to people and make new friends.

Taking a deep breath, and still careful to watch where she stepped and what she was stepping on, Ninian made her way to the front of the café. She was not alone; Hatmon was outside, just flipping the sign to read 'Open,' and Blossom stood by the kitchen counter, pen and pad in hand.

"Hello, Blossom," she said, addressing the mercenary-waitress, and her fellow coworker at Hatmon's Hostess café. "Has anyone else arrived yet?"

User ImageGanon hummed, sitting on a stool in his corner of the room and tuning his guitar. "Dee dee dee," he hummed, plucking a string as he turned the corresponding tuning key. He looked stellar in a fine white outfit, with an unusual heart-shaped eyepatch to, he'd said, "please the ladies". Just why he believed an eyepatch would do this was hard to fathom, but he was a big dangerous reptile and you didn't argue with him. Though he'd usually be first to concede in an argument, which made the decision to use him as a bouncer questionable.

Until you realized he could turn ejecting a rowdy customer into a show for the other patrons. Then it'd be jolly good times for all!

Once satisfied with his guitar, he strummed a few chords. "It's funny, I know," he sang, "But I'm disappointed in you. I thought you could read my mind... Dah DAH! Right..." He reached up and turned a key a bit more, then plucked the string and resumed, "But I came home early, and saw that a drawer'd been opened. Looks like you've been reading my diary instead, alright." He stood, placing a claw on the strings to stop them vibrating, and put the guitar on the stool. "Evening, ladies. We about ready to open?" he asked as he made his way to the bar. One claw gently rapped on it. "Vika, wherever you are, can you get me a glass and a pitcher of water?"

"I'm here~" Lyre skipped through the kitchen doors, a tray of adorable 'first come, first serve' cakes in hand. Her tail swished behind her, peeking out from under her short white skirt, and she was fully enjoying her first theme day. Since arriving in Eyris, and Learania in general, Lyre had somehow become enthralled in the varying Beorc fashion world, and had a growing clothing collection. A cute little flowered hair clip sat just beneath one of her ears, and she was surprisingly agile in her magenta pumps.

She had simply needed to work at the Hostess Club- despite what Lethe thought of it, and despite the agitation she still felt when she was stared at for her Laguz heritage. At least at the moment, in the club, patrons probably assumed she was simply dressing as some... cat-girl maid? She really didn't like the strange fetish she'd noticed some individuals had with her ears and tail, but at least today it worked to her advantage.

She set the tray down on the counter, smiling to Blossom and Ninian who stood waiting for their duties to begin. This was probably the most animated Lyre had been in... well, she probably hadn't ever been seen with a genuine smile plastered on her face.

I shall now demonstrate the Law of Sacae
Tribesmen fighting with all they have for the sake of one another!

~)Sue(~

Sue, the Nomad Trooper was taking a long awaited and deserved break away from her duties as far as fighting for Learania. While that duty in itself was rewarding, the green-haired young woman sure needed some downtime after the struggle with the Heroes and the Dark God. Besides, her tracking senses were pointing her in a direction of someone familiar, someone who was long lost before the final battle against the remaining Heroes begun.

She took a walk into the inviting new establishment, greeting Ganon at the doorway. Of course, the nomad noted, he was busy playing away on his guitar with passion. Musicians. No matter what instrument they played, they added a sort of "flavor" to life that made it that much more enjoyable.

"Hello, Ganon." Sue said fondly to the friend of FEF who'd helped them so many times in the past. "What a fine place this is..." she complimented, taking a good look around at the neatly arranged prepared food and the tables.

It was upon looking around she saw the familiar one she'd been trying to track for a while. Sue blinked her eyes, not believing them. "Ninian...?" she whispered. All she did was wait for the half-dragoness to answer her.

What a disgrace! Was this the sort of treatment Kris deserved from his bodyguard? Ab-so-lut-ly NOT! She was the one he had hired to protect him, after falling into this strange peculiar world, being the fragile creature he was. Who knew what crazed beasts would want to prey on his poor defenseless self, what with his lack of strength he would simply be no match for them. Though a man, at least he was pretty sure he was still a man, it wasn’t only girls that had hopes for his attention; it was other men as well. Strangely enough, Kris didn’t mind it much, or at least not now anyway. His genderless appearance came with a lot of benefits, but also a lot of dangers, which was why Hatmon was around to protect him from this cruel world.

But, oh no, Hatmon just had to be mad at him for his little lazy moment when she had asked for his help with the sign a few days prior to today. This job was apparently his punishment, and she had been so sly when she tricked him into doing it. Oh well, at least he got to sample all of the food, just as he had been planning to do, regardless. Though, the manakete would have still preferred to eat all the good foods without the work. As the head chef it was his responsibility to wake up early each morning prior to opening to bake the day’s goods, so that they would be fresh. Hatmon had informed him that he wouldn’t be alone and that some of the girls would help him on occasion, but he didn’t know how true that was.

A puff of smoke appeared around Kris as the blue haired man suddenly had breasts almost popping out of the black shirt he was wearing under his light pink robe with gold trimmings.
“Oh, you’ll be safer if you don’t work as a waiter,” the man jeered. He had taken on the appearance of Hatmon just for this single line, before he reverted back to his natural form. His lazily whisked the bowl of pink icing he had been making as he glanced out one of the kitchen windows and eyed the customers that had begun entering. Well, Hatmon never did say he wasn’t allowed to be a waiter or a pretty little waitress.

When was the last time Ephraim actually sat still in a cafe? More or less, the new hostess cafe that just opened a few moments. It caught his attention. From the outside it looked like just a regular white brick building, but once inside the setting is completely different. He couldn't hep but actually walk in and see what they had to offer.

It didn't seem too busy since the cafe had just opened and there was only a few waitreses running around One of them ran by him and the fresh smell of a strawberry scone was absorbed with the combination of a glass of apple juice.

It was enough to make his stomach growl lightly and oh if he could grab that piece of scone he would. He kindly sat himself at one of the neatly set tables and grabbed the mini menu that sat to the side of the table.

From the outside, this building seemed like something odd...yet on the inside you could tell the service was excellent. The aromas, the people, and the food...oh so good. Walking in, Ziaram could smell it all, and he even noticed some people he recognized, yet chose to sit at a table over by a dark corner, and started looking at the menu.

~Ninian~

Ninian's eye, the one not covered by the bandage, slowly closed, the dancer listening to Ganon the bard as he began to play. She winced slightly when he plucked a slightly out of tune note, but wonderful musician that he was, he quickly corrected the problem. He played a few more bars before approaching the café's bar. She had opened her eye when she realized keeping it closed meant she could not seem to keep her balance.

"Hello, Ganon," she replied politely, trying to smile and failing. She'd have to fix that before anyone else entered. "Hatmon has just gone to flip the sign."

She turned when Lyre, another waitress at the café, appeared from the kitchen, carrying a tray of cakes that she set on the counter as she smiled.

"Hello, Lyre," Ninian acknowledged, noting that the cakes smelled very good. Their head chef, whose name was Kris if she remembered correctly, must have already started baking. Various smells wafted in from the kitchen, each one more enticing than the last to someone who was hungry.

A bell jingled from somewhere, and Ninian's attention was drawn to the door; the sound had come from the small bell attached to it, signaling that a customer had entered. Trained for this, Ninian began to attempt a smile, saying as she turned to face the door, "Welcome to the Hostess Café!"

But then she saw who it was and her words died before she could even open her mouth more than a fraction.

"Sue!" she breathed instead, shocked. Sue was one of the few members of FEF with whom she was friends. Sue had been left behind when she had left--no, fled--Eyris months earlier. Had Sue come to visit her in the infirmary while she had been there for the past few weeks? She couldn't remember. She couldn't remember most of her time there anyway.

Unconsciously, she took a shaky step forward, and then another, slowly making her way to the nomad. "Sue, I--"

And then she remembered her manners. "W-welcome to the Hostess Café, Sue," she managed to say, still unable to smile. "Please sit anywhere you like. Th-the menus are on the table." Immediately, she felt horrible, but Sue was a customer, and Ninian was only a waitress. And besides, how does one apologize to someone they consider a friend for running off and disappearing for two and a half months?

Dimly she heard the bell ring twice more. "Welcome to the Hostess Café!" she called out both times. She wanted to retreat back to the counter, but she couldn't seem to move her feet.
