Physical Description: Elaynia is the most beautiful woman on the earth, and you better not say anything different. It does not occur to her that attraction to a person varies with tastes and raising. Her raising has taught her she's beautiful, and she spends an extensive amount of time making sure everyone else knows about this. She has special clothes for candidate duties, but at every other moment of the day, she's dawned something fashionable on.
Has a shoe for every day of the week? You bet your bottom mark she does! Her room space is filled to the brim with clothes, shoes, whatever jewelry she can find, and if a nice young man (or a woman, because you never know at Ista) chances to give her something, she's more than pleased to adorn that as well!
And the hair? Don't even start. Even if it wasn't a sweet-corn gold with just the right amount of wave, Elaynia wouldn't spend any less time taking care of it. Coupled with her blue (and they are blue. Not that ugly grey, or turquoise, or any of the other colors those other girls have!) eyes, she's quite certain that she's a catch at Ista (other blondes be ignored, they don't count!).
As for her body, you better like that, too, because unlike the rest of the women at Ista, she actually looks like a woman. Maybe her tush is a bit on the small side, but she's not quite an adult yet. It will grow into perfection, just you see! In the mean time, just admire and drool over the perfect shape of her hips and bust - not too big, not too small. If you're not looking, there's something seriously wrong with you.
Personality: If there were 3-word names on Pern, vanity would be Elaynia's middle. In life, there are three important things: Her looks, the people who are looking at her, and the Weyrwoman, because she gets things done. Everyone else, step aside, if you're not blinded by her stunning fashion already, that is!
Feminist movement as Ista? Maybe seeping into Igen? You can bet that she'd be behind it! Women power all the way! And Elaynia loves flirting with both parties to attempt to get what she wants. Don't get any ideas, though, this a** is hands-off! The look, but do not touch rule is very much in play for every party. Gender, race, sexuality, age, it doesn't matter. She's too good for you.
Her favourite thing in the whole wide world is to socialize. Where else would she get to show off to the rest of the world? When she's in public, she always makes sure to eat the appropriate amounts with perfect politeness and her own version of charming words. The weather? Politics? It doesn't matter! Talk about whatever you want. Elaynia wants to be informed, and she'll gladly make sure everyone else is, too!
She'll even do you a favour, if there's something in it for her! Oh, but not everything is perfect about her. Don't you fret! She has a bit of trouble reading, though this is a big secret (she still sounds like a four year old sounding out letters, in fact!). And, the worst of all, she has horrible balance.
You see, she's always loved animals and runnerbeasts and all the pride and beauty that comes with them. Walking on a plank, or staying on one of these animals for more than ten minutes? Not happening. Elayna hits the dirt faster than you can say "ouch!". She'll work on this after she Impresses. And she will Impress, and you can bet that her dragon will be the best and most beautiful there ever was, too! If she Impresses to a green? Move over golds, there's a new leading color in town! A blue? Well, it's only natural to have a man's point of view to finish of her perfect thinking circle! And if she Impresses a gold? Well, would you expect any less?
History: Her father (who remains her soul protector) is a Journeyman, of some craft she forgets, who happened to be present during one of the Flights of a green. Her mother's blue rather missed out on catching said green, and as the story goes, after a wild night, Elaynia's father and mother fell in love.
As a journeyman, however, her father wasn't really ever around, and she knows very little of him. She knows what he looks like, and from time to time he'll come to visit, but for the most part, Elaynia knows mostly her mother. And she's an excellent mother, and no one is allowed to say different!
Elaynia was a nice young child. She was always read to help out her fellow people at the Weyr, and she enjoyed being around the mature adults and following in their footsteps. She would carry things, put in her points of view at random intervals, and bat her eyelashes in the general direction of everyone.
At some point, this really got to her head and created a lovely ego. What was once actual caring and interest turned into a craving for attention and a social "act". Elaynia has been her own person since she was 12.
