Announcement has been made during the Nine Smile tour...To be honest it is a major shocker! Wasn't expecting this long standing line up to have a graduation anytime soon...Here is a rough translation that I've brought over from Hello!Online.

Morning Musume, 7th generation memeber, kusumi koharu, after her last performance at Morning Musume Concert tour 2009 aki ~ Nine Smile on 6th december, will be graduating from MM and HP.
As a member of Morning Musume until now for 4 years and 4 months, she has learnt the knack of being a singer and artist.
and she will become 18th next year.
She took her own pace to learn to adjust the knowledge of being involved in group activities.
At the same time, she did activities as Kirian xxxx (dunno how to spell that)
This decision was made after wacthing all her activities and performance,
it was a decision made by me as her producer, i wish koharu to go solo, that's why i made this decision.
Although this is not a debut where she came from nowhere to become a singer or anything like that (as she already has 4 years experience), and she still have things to improve, let the present koharu work hard to achieve success, and sharpen every aspects, aims to be a model career , the job shes alwasy wanted, as her first step of her new career.

Thank you for all the continuous support,
after being a memeber of MM for 4 years 4 months, i will be graduating at MM concert at Tokyo......... (the venue on 6th dec)
from MM and HP.
then i will take the challenge one of my dream jobs, modelling
in the past, i was performing as a member of MM, but in the future, i wish to work as Kusumi koharu, going to the direction of all my dreams and all the things i want to achieve.
