"I haven't showered in 3 days."
He had.
"No, but really. I smell like the 40s."

Wally smiled and sighed, nuzzling against him. "It's so good to hold you again." He said. Mmmmm- "Do you have any MREs in this place?"
"Not in this one." Cap mentioned. "I think I used this one for hiding or stakeout recently."
"I'll have to go on a food run or something."

"You need to rest. You and your bots," Derek smiled, sitting Wally down, "I'll go out. Any requests?"

"Anything high in sugar or protein." Wally sat and sighed. "Both, if you can." Bots were off! Even Sonya!

"Yeah, I can handle that," Derek nodded. He had been a student once too. Sugar and protein were godsends at times like that.
"I'll be back soon. Gotta find a supermarket that was still a supermarket 6 years ago."

Wally waved goodbye and laid back down. Mmm, sleepytimes~
There was one about four blocks over, open even this early in the morning. On the way back 'home', there was a man pulled to the side of the road, trying in vain to change a flat tire in the pouring rain.

Derek was miserable in the rain. It was cold and it sucked. He had been attempting to hitchhike his way back, but the only car he'd seen so far was this one on the side of the road. He sighed, shifting his bags in his arms, and yelled over the patter of rain.
"HEY! NEED SOME HELP?!" he asked, slowly getting closer.

The man looked up and nodded. "Yeah, I just can't seem to get it!"

"TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE, HUH?!" Derek laughed, placing his bags down under the car to keep them dry. He crouched by the tire and tilted his head.
"YOU STILL GOT A NUT IN, MAN! GOTTA WRENCH?!"

The man laughed, probably at himself, and offered the tool he'd been using. "I've never done this before!"

"Lucky! This bull always happens to me!"
Derek waved a hand dismissively and he worked the nut.
"I got it, man, I got it! Go get me the spare!"

The blond man moved around to the back and pulled the spare from the van, rolling it over. "Here!" He said, crouching down and watching.

Derek went about affixing the tire. He felt a little less manly for how slow he worked in the pouring rain, but at least he knew he could do it. Poor guy, stuck in the city in the rain.

The man laughed and clapped when he got the tire back on. "You're a lifesaver!" He said. "Can I do anything for you?"

Derek went back under the truck and grabbed his bags before turning to face the man.
His grin faded.
No way. No ******** way.
"I THINK WE SHOULD GET INSIDE," he offered, pointing to a 24/7 store off the road.
