Valetudo'Sero, in her disguise of a mortal, 'hiding' her wings, pulled the green herbs from her bag. "It was a good day," she said as she used a large flat rock to spread the odd plants out. She was able to find the herbs that she was seriously lacking and she found the perfect spot to dry them, a large flat rocky clearing with direct sunlight for most of the day. Normally I air dry them but sun drying wont hurt this type, she thought as she found a nice shaded spot where some large stones fell and created a shallow cave.
The day was nice and warm and the sun was shining brightly, there was no wind to speak of and for Val's purpose that was just perfect. Unlike some of the other times she sun dried particular herbs, these would not need weighing down. She was so pleased with herself she started to daydream so when she felt a cooling breeze ruffle her dark green fur she just sighed and thought, What a nice breeze on such a great day.
It was not until her sensitive nose picked up the pungent aroma of the herbs that she realized what was going on. With a cry of anxiety she jumped to her paws... only to whack her head on the low rock 'ceiling'. Muttering curses under her breath, Val gingerly crawled out of her shelter to find all of her herbs gone from the flat stone, only a few were scattered across the clearing. Still muttering she examined one of the closer plants and found it to be battered and bruised but generally usable. "I hate the wind!" echoed off the rocks as the still 'young' goddess when about collecting the few herbs she could still find.

Mito was sprawled out under a dying tree, one back foot pressed against the bark as though he were trying to surf on it. He was dreaming pleasantly of a great many things, visions of meat and ladies filling his mind. Really, his dream could not have been more perfect. Unfortunately for him, the best dreams were always interrupted. It seemed he couldn’t have a full nap whenever his thoughts wandered over to something he actually enjoyed thinking about.
This time, it was a sneeze that woke him. As he huffed in large amounts of air through his nostrils, he hadn’t noticed the scent of herbs coming his way. It wasn’t until one planted itself almost inside of his nostril that he took noticed, the massive lion snorting and sitting up abruptly, a large sneeze escaping him.
Shaking his mighty mane, the baffled creature, looked bewildered at the floor, noticing a small… thing lying before him coated in a thin layer of his nose’s… defense system. Blinking, he looked around, getting slowly to his huge paws and moving forward. Someone was talking to the sky, complaining about the wind. Following the voice, he sound found himself looking at a flustered young lioness shuffling about collecting little plants.
“I wouldn’t say the wind is all that bad,” he offered with a warm greeting smile, “I rather like getting to cool off after a few very hot days, don’t you? Now… what seems to be the matter, my dear? Is it something I can help you with?”

Valetudo'Sero was still muttering under her breath as she gathered the few herbs that she could still use, the others she buried thinking that one day they just might grow here, when she heard a voice. With a squeak of surprise she looked around and spotted a even darker green lion.
She stuttered a greeting, he really had surprised her, and said sheepishly, "Well your right the wind is quite good on hot days but it just ruined hours of work." She emphasized her irritation with a very juvenile action, stomping her paw in the rocky dirt. Of course the predictable event occurred, she stomped on a rock. Once again the goddess squeaked in surprise, if one didn't know better one would think she was a mouse, and glanced at her paw. No damage was done but she looked even more embarrassed.
Taking a deep calming breath Val sunk with in her self to the quiet place where she normally went when dealing with complicated mixes. After letting out a sigh full of her frustrations she began again. "Sorry about that, my name is Val and I am sorry for interrupting your... um well what ever you were doing." She smiled and continued, "As to what is wrong, the wind just scattered all of the herbs that I had spent the morning hunting and collecting. You are welcome to help but well," she shrugged, "I'm wondering if at this point it might just be simpler to pick fresh ones."

“Oh, I see,” Mito replied with a slight frown. Getting her worked ruined after dealing with it for a couple of hours probably hadn’t been the greatest moment of her life. He should have been more considerate when approaching someone. Still, it was kind of cute in an innocent sort of way, seeing her look so flustered about it. He could see by the way she reacted that this lioness was not full grown. Which, really, explained why she was a good deal smaller than him.
“I was sleeping,” Mito replied with a bow of his head, “but meeting you is much better than a nap! Anyway, you didn’t wake me up. One of your herbs, though, did say hello to me in a mighty odd way.” He grinned at the thought, his nose itching at the mere memory of how he had woken up.
“That’s one plant you’re going to have to find again, unless you don’t mind a stranger’s snot on it. I’m afraid the little thing went right up my nose while I was sleeping. Why don’t I help you find new ones? Might be something you can teach me about, anyway. I don’t know the first thing about herbs.” He moved over to her, his large frame apparently east to move for the male.
He was used to the weight.
“My name is Mito,” he offered after a moment, “it’s a real pleasure to meet you, Val.”

Valetudo'Sero found this large lion to be quite nice and she was happy to have met him but when he said that one of the herbs woke him in a strange way she almost had a heart attack, mentally reviewing what the symptoms for ingesting this herb were she looked for the first signs of trouble.
When he said that it went up his nose yet sneezed it out, Val let out a obvious sigh. It was good that he had not swallowed it because she knew that while this particular herb was great crushed in wounds to prevent infection it became quite dangerous when ingested. She smiled weakly, still not quite over her fear, and replied "Sorry for waking you up Mito and I could never turn down offered help. But first I really should at least bury those herbs I can find since they are quite dangerous when swallowed." She shifted sheepishly when mentioning that, after all this kind male could have been a victim to her negligence. Val felt obligated to add, "But in my defense when crushed and made into a paste its great for preventing infections. "

"Really now? Well, I suppose it's a good thing I didn't end up eating it then, hm?" Though he wasn't so sure it was great that it had gone up his nose either. Still, there was no real harm done: he wasn't in any kind of pain from it and his nose wasn't even the least bit irritated. All said, it was a rather good thing that the herb had disturbed his sleep.
Now he got to talk to a very interesting female, which was always a plus.
"I'm learning so much already! I'll help you bury those herbs of yours, my dear, and I promise you I won't eat a single one of them unless you tell me it's alright." He offered her a toothy grin, getting a bit nearer to her in hopes of her showing him where he might help her bury her ingredients. Workings with plants to help with things like injuries.
Very weird.

"Well there are a few plants that ingesting them is good for you but definitely not this one. And there are quite a few ways of preparing various plants where you have to drink them or smell them, not just eating them. " She smiled a little shyly as she started to walk among the rocks searching for her missing plants. When she found one she pointed it out and then proceeded to dig a hole which she placed the crumpled herb into it and covered it up.
"I guess its a waste bury them but I kind of need them to be whole and not as beat up as that one was and besides this way it might grow." She didn't really think so but she felt like she had to justify herself.
"Did you know there is a very fine line between healing someone and poisoning them with plants?" she asked him looking over her shoulder as she started to search for more of the herbs, hoping to find some that were not overly damaged.

Mito helped the best he could, burying some herbs for her when she mentioned what they were and how to handle them, and if they were no good or not. It felt like he was dealing with lessons all over again, like the ones he used to get from his mother about the ways of life and how males should treat females. It was actually pretty heart-warming, in his opinion. Long had it been since he got to feel like a cub again, learning something for the first time.
Plants were more amazing than he could have thought. Before he assumed their only real value was to provide shade on a hot day.
He sniffed around on the ground, though he had caught her warning that some plants were dangerous. Smell probably wasn't something to worry about, right? "I'd imagine so," he hummed, "since you've said how dangerous they can be. It's quite amazing. I could have used your help, I think, when I was bitten by a snake a while back. I suffered for a couple of weeks before the poison left my system."

When they had gotten as many as they could find Val was mildly pleased to realize that there were a pawful that had survive their little flight. It was actually enough that if she wanted to she could wait till later to gather new ones but she was having so much fun educating Mito that she decided that it never hurt to collect some now.
"Well I'm not sure if I could have helped a lot with a snake bite there are plants that help swelling and some other symptoms but I guess it all depends on what type of snake it was." Val had paused when she was thinking of possible ways that plants could have helped Mito but continued walking slowly towards where she saw a few plants growing at the edge of the rocky clearing.
"I'm sure I could have come up with something once I knew what was happening. There are many ways of administering the herbs. The common ones are salves and tinctures but you can use aromatherapy." She paused a moment, "I've never used it before myself although I have heard of some who take a certain plant and place it in a fire and the smoke makes them see things."

“I suppose that’s true,” Mito hummed, looking down at his paw. There was only two small scars from that terrible experience left as proof that it had even happened, greatly obscured by his fur. Hell, they were invisible unless you happened to know what you were looking for. For a while, though, the area had been completely bald. It would have really been embarrassing if the fur had never grown back in again.
“I don’t know what kind of snake it was,” he replied lightly, “something mean that I had apparently stepped on without realizing it. Thought I was going to die for a little while there, too. It was pretty bad.” Not that she needed to know any of what had been happening to him. She hadn’t even asked. It was just… she had so much she could talk about and what was he supposed to say?
Nothing at all?
“Huh, I know flowers smell nice. I think a lot of the other plants kind of smell the same, though. Guess that’s why I don’t know very much about herbs.” He chuckled at that, following her. It was fun following her, he had to admit.

Val looked at Mito when he spoke of the snake and how he thought he was going to die from the bite. "Well its a good thing you didn't because then I wouldn't have met you. And honestly if you got stepped on I would think you would be mean too, I know I would." She smiled to lessen the sting of the second half of what she said, but she really did mean the first half. Val enjoyed teaching this older male what she knew, it was something that she hasn't really experienced in this life yet.
Val knew that she has had past lives, yet she could only remember the plants and this one place that only came to her in her dreams. Nothing other then those ever came with her memories so if she had been more of a teacher in herbalism than a healer she didn't remember.
"Oh yes everything has a sent," she blushed once she realized what she said. "I meant that all plants have a sent and even though some smell the same they all have individual sents." She thought for a moment then suggested, "When you get back to your den find some fresh, dry savanna grass and use it as a bedding. It has a very soft clean smell, well if you pick clean grass." She smiled slightly, glad that she met Mito even if it was in a strange way.

Mito gave a hearty laugh.
“I think you have another good point there! I wouldn’t match appreciate someone stepping on me, especially someone as heavy as I happen to be! I suppose it must not have felt very good for the snake. Maybe he was thinking he was going to die too.” He’d thought about it from the perspective of the snake before, but in the end he couldn’t be very forgiving since he had still been the one to get poisoned. Being stepped on and getting poisoned were two entirely different kinds of pains.
He liked that she was thinking about how they might not have met- it made him feel squishy on the inside. Wasn’t every day that he got to meet a Goddess. Especially not such a kind one.
There were a lot of mean ones out there, he knew.
Grinning, he eyed the lady. “Do you think I smell bad? I could collect grass if you think it will help me smell better.” He moved over to her, sniffing her coat pointedly, trying to tickle her fur as he let out long exhales between prolonged sniffs, “you, however, smell great! Just like a flower.”

Val smiled, she was glad that she was able get this mortal to think in a different way even if it was only briefly. She didn't know that Mito had figured out her godhood and actually thought that just by hiding her wings she could disguise that 'godliness' that was so much a part of her. It wasn't that she disliked being a god but she felt that some mortals would be more comfortable if it was just a normal herbalist who helps them rather then the goddess of herb lore herself.
When Mito asked if he smelled bad Val got a surprised look on her face which was quickly chased by a light feeling of shame. She didn't mean to imply that he smelled and said so, "Oh no actually you smell kind of nice. Like a light musky smell mixed with warm fur."
She was surprised that she hadn't noticed Mito coming up so close to her when he sniffed her green fur, his nose tickling her lightly. Val laughed as his warm breath fluttered through her coat and blushed slightly when he said she smiled like a flower. Still laughing slightly she said, "Then it must be one strange smelling flower."

Mito smiled. She was indeed a kind lioness, getting worried that she might have offended him. Of course he knew she hadn’t meant anything by her comment, and she had never said he smelled bad, the male was just messing with her. Still, it was nice to see that she wasn’t someone who got offended with comments like that. Sometimes he didn’t know what to say to females- they could be very emotional over the silliest of things.
Her temper seemed even, which was a good thing in his books.
“Oh really? Well, I’m thankful for that,” he hummed, “I would hate to be a smelly lion.” Especially since so many of his children liked to jump on him. He was the pillow and they were his blankets. Not that he had a horde of children, but he knew there were at least a couple litters out there blessed with his DNA.
He wondered if she had kids. She seemed a bit young yet, but there was really no saying for sure.
Laughing, he nudged her gently, shaking his head. “Not at all! A very nice smelling flower. Then again, I don’t really know what’s strange or not. We both know I’m not great with plants. Hopefully there are flowers that smell like you out there- I would like to have something that reminds me of you once we go our separate ways.”
