I want to say that though I am in this afrcian american thread. I am like the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr are what you called ethnic centric. Ok it's not a real word. But it's my way of saying I enjoy the beauty and culture of all ethnic groups and even non ethnic groups. And a topic that comes up alot is that america especially african americans put the cares, needs, of other races on the back burner. In america if your not white or black. Your needs or accomplishments are eithier not acknowledged or placed on the side.

I have read alot of internet blogs all saying the same thing. That other races dont get alot of acknowledgement for their pain and suffering. One I read went to go as far as to say that "Just because my people didnt go throught slavery for 400 yrs and just because we didnt go throught the KKK and sgregation doesn't mean we didnt suffer as well. we suffered just as much as anybody and at the hands of African americans." This was from an chinese man who was a journalist and printed a very disturbing letter about African americans in the paper company he works for.

I read his letter ((Of course the english version. I cant find it but when I do I want to show it to everyone.)). It was pretty horrible but it had some points that when it comes to america it's all about blacks and whites. Other races dont get as much attention and when they suffer racial adversity or anything else it just doesn't compare to the pain african americans went through so it's just placed on a back burner.

Is this true or not. Does african americans as well as america place races on a back burner and make them suffer because they feel like what they can go through can never compare to what we go through? or is it something else?

I think I know who you are talking about it's Kenneth Eng right? Big, big stories a couple of years ago. I know cause he's a fellow SF'er. Here's the Why I hate Black People

If not my fault.

Anyway yes, this country is rather Black and White. The other races have to pick a side. It's like X-men. Blacks are often of like the Brotherhood (no pun intended) we just want to live in peace without all the hate and misunderstanding. However sometimes the way we go about things are kind of backwards and self-hurtful at best. While whites are pretty much like the X-men as well as normal humans. White Americans are often like the humans who hate and fear us cause they just don't get us which is sad since we been here just as long as they have. (Though we were here first wink )

Then we have our X-men most notable MLK, Rosa Parks, ect. However like the actual X-men freedom and equal right leaders come in all shapes, colors, and from all backgrounds. John and Yoko Lennon need about as much credit as MLK and the rest. Same with Wong Chin Foo, Caesar, and even some unnamed Native Americans.

Comic nerd'ism aside. Point is yeah the other races don't get any credit. The only cultural month that get notice is Black History that's the only one people really trip about nation-wide. (Though it does in fact depends on location)

They may or may not trip out on Latino/Mexican American month in May (Usually in places like NY, CA, NM, TX, and FL it's a big deal since the population of those folks are huge) With everyone else the basic mindset is as follows:

Do you care about Asians Americans? Only if you a weeaboo or something do you care. I mean they can't drive, they keep to themselves, they eat cats, ect. Wy should we care?

Do We care about Middle Eastern American? Only if you support what happen on 9-11, Muslim, or taking an Airline trip.

Native Americans: Meh, they get casinos and college for free. They don't need to worry about anything.

people who claim the "Other" option on the SAT: Why don't they pick a side? They are confusing everyone. My head hurts.

In short I agree with you. The other ones don't matter. Which is why I have a love-hate relationship with the NAACP. As I have yet seen Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson help out any Asian family that got attacked by the LAPD or SFPD (SFPD is worst nowadays btw)

How many big non-kung fu Asian actors or role models do we have? How many Latino doctors do we have on TV? Seriously look at the media as a whole. It's very black and white. It's very sad.

No problem. wink Like I said it was a big, big story and spark many campus debate from SFSU to SJSU as well. At least for a while Blacks and Asians were co-mixing for a bit. That's was the only good outcome about it. Then again college students usually are good at breaking cultural barriers.

yeah that is true.

yeah but sadly once we leave college we don't always stay like that as we are once again forced to use labels and have racist viewpoints all over again. Cause seems to me that the world should be a lot less racist granted that people of ALL colors have been in higher ed since the 1970's at the very least.

Then I guess it some of the older folks really driving it but then I look at the crap posted on Yahoo buzz, youtube, this site, and other forum sites and I don't know.

We're not forced to pick up the racist viewpoints. We choose to let them in. Education status has nothing to do it. Racism is one thing that will always stay. We have no clue why since we all need each other any way. But it is something that is going to stick with the human race. Even if it is some of the older people teaching younger angrier teens. you cant use that as en excuse. people have to realize that you cant be the product of your own enviornment. When does your right to think on your own come in play. I never liked the excuse "Because I was taught this all my life" or anything close to it. Because I'm sure at some point if you can lie, keep a secret from, or tell your parents no. Then you should be able to question some of the things they say. Especially when it comes to race or racial matters.

People who post stuff in forums are just being attention whores. Their pulling for an emotion. Thats not racism that just wanting attention by showing something racist. They know it will get them on tv or get hits on their website. like the guy who did the "Should obama get assinated forum" It got him on tv and attention he wanted.

to seperate the attention whores from the people who really mean it is action of group formations. If they dont ask you to join or something like that then they dont mean it. Thats an attention whore. Usually people who mean ask for people to join their cause or something.
