She was so close to her homelands, she could nearly smell it in the air. The moisture and aromas of her long missed Swamps, a grand difference to this land of dust and brittle plants. Oh how she missed it dearly, and couldn't wait to set her eyes on the beloved land once again. And hopefully soon.

It was with this desire that the lioness ran in a constant pace across the savannah. Not a hard run, but one that covered both ground and time in a satisfying rate. While her mostly pale body blurred by, her front paws looked almost like vipers striking up from the grass with each step she took. Such a smile detail amused her as she continued her travels, and at sometimes she'd pounce at random, imagining her claws to be the fangs of such a snake. Ah yes, even a growing lady could be allowed childish at times. And she'd dare anyone to tell her different! Though even she had to realize....time and experiences have really shed her from her old self. Where before she could play and riddle and tease all day long, now she held a matured consideration of the world around er, and not just herself. After all, the spirits would be none to pleased if she were to act foolish or ignorant under their guidance. And she wouldn't dare behave so.

Slowing her steps, the female couldn't help but allow a smile to stretch her muzzle. Ah the spirits, it was about time they had gave her the prize of her quest. Sure it took longer than her brother, but to receive her true name....that joy made up for any previous aggravations or impatience. And just imagine! She'd be home soon to reveal it to her kin.

Stopping her steps altogether, the lioness was surprised to find her chest heaving and lungs panting. Oh, maybe she had pushed for too long? So she blinked her light eyes as she scanned her surroundings for a source of water. Not too far away was a meager pool of murky water, and it was in that direction that she cautiously walked. Who knows what other creatures were roaming or homed there...

User ImageAmadi was a wanderer, he adored his father but he couldn't live in the pridelands, it was boring. Oh not to say there were too many relatives, he wanted to get out, be free to find himself. He had never known his mother and it had never bothered him. He was sure some lions grew up knowing neither parent and so he thought himself lucky that he knew at least one.

He had found himself here without knowing why or even where he was. He had just been thirsty and a drink had turned in to a bath and now next to the water hole laid a black lion with a pink mane dripping water all over the place. He looked half drowned. As far from attractive as one could get but there were no females about and so he saw no reason to worry about his appearance.

The sun would dry him off quickly, he knew that and so he had laid down, enjoying the rays of the sun. Yes today was a good day. He liked traveling though he knew he had to find something, that thing to tell him who he was and what he should do. He had been so sure he would know who he was the instant he left the pride lands but it had never happened. He still hadn't a clue but then he didn't really know what he was looking for either. He was sure he would find out what it was when he found it, hopefully.

Inhaling deeply, Inija found herself smelling something beside the sweet clear scent of water. Ugh, the odd smell of wet fur that every creature seemed to hold. Hm. The lioness slowed her pace and craned her neck higher as she scanned the water's edge. To smell fur meant someone or possibly more were lurking nearby, and could pose trouble for the lone lioness. A glance to the left, then to the right, but there was nothing to see. No forms roaming about or lurking in the grasses.

So where was the source?

Crimping her brows lightly, the female continued in her quest for water though with cautious steps. She was too thirsty to turn back now, and all still seemed clear in the area. It wasn't until she rounded a thriving shrub that she spotted the very source she hadn't been expecting. Just there at the water's edge was a lump of black and soggy fur.

"Spirits be wild!" Grinding her teeth, Inija trotted swiftly up to the form, unable to see his face from her angle. "Are you alright here?" Hn, he didn't smell like death, so what was the deal? Leaning over to glance his face, the lioness moved to paw his shoulder and give a shake. "Listen, I don't pity the lazy, but I doubt lounging in a busy territory like here is not the wisest decision." Now if this individual was wounded on the other hand, well....she wasn't sure what'd have to be done.

Amadi heard someone arriving and then heard a voice and then got nudged? What? He was trying to sleep here, you know that thing where you lay down and sleep. Oh well. He opened his eyes and looked at the female that was talking to him and decided that it would be the polite thing to sit up and try to look half decent. Though one can only look half decent when they aren't soaking wet with fur pointing in a hundred different directions.

"Is someone not allowed to just rest after a long journey?" He had come quite a way but not all at once, he was just being lazy today but he couldn't see how that could be bad, after all everyone has their lazy days, right?

"I am Amadi, it's nice to meet you miss...?" Introductions were always polite, at least that is what he had been told when he was growing up. Well for now it was probably best to be as polite as possible as the female, well lets be fair he probably didn't look great for a first impression and didn't want to put the female off him before he even found out her name.

Pft.

Inija showed her dismay openly upon his words, her tail fur bristling momentarily and her whiskers twitching as well. Blunt brute. "Fine then. It is no concern of mine where you decide to lay like a carcass." She shrugged before lurking forward to the waters placid edge and quenching her thirst. It was pleasant enough, even if it was the usual warm and flavored liquid.

Still tilted over the water, the lioness slid bright eyes back at the other when he announced his name. And water dripped from her whiskers and muzzle as she debated her own answer. What name to use? For now.....her original title. Until she returned home. "It's Inija. And it's a pleasure." Finishing her task, the lioness sat casually and began to groom her dirty face and paws. The one named Amadi didn't seem or feel much of a threat, and so she continued on in a languid pace. "So, you've traveled far you said? Theeeen, what? Collapsed at your destination?"

Amadi watched her and just smiled as she mentioned him laying like a carcass. Well he hadn't been called that before that was for sure. First for everything and all that.

"Inija, nice name!" It was a pretty name, short and easy to remember. Always good. "Yeah I have traveled. I was born in a pride but parents had this big falling out kinda thing and family broke apart. So I left and here I am, a destination of sorts but until I find a home I doubt I can say its my final destination!" He smiled as he spoke wondering if a final destination would in fact exist. Maybe he would spend his life looking for something that didn't exist, that wouldn't be clever.

"What about you? Have you traveled?"

Eyes blinked in a short surprise before dulling back to her usual gold. "Hn, well thank you." No need to make things complicated and say the name no longer belongs to her. Though the compliment almost made her bitter to loose her original title. But only a little. Ears perked as the male confirmed her earlier questioning. So, he was a traveler. Though...he hadn't always been that way?

"Wait, so did your pride abandon you? Or you abandon your pride?" The notion of either such thing happening seemed ludicrous to the female. But her time spent in the rogue lands showed her that many oddities were well capable of happening. Lifting her chin, the lioness quietly gave a prayer of gratitude to her own kind spirits for her better situation. "Well then, so long as you have strong and enduring legs, I'm sure a home is not too hard to hope for."

She glanced around for but a moment before nodding back at the other. "Aye, I've traveled a fair distance myself. Though now I'm retracing my steps and ending my own adventures. Heh, and here I thought they might not ever end!"

He smiled as she thanked him and he nodded.

"Neither really, my mother was a rogue and my father belonged to a pride. I lived with my father but it was never a pride I belonged to and so it was never home." Everything he said was the truth and it had led Amadi to not have the slightest idea where he belonged.

"Where is it you are from and returning to?" He was curious after all maybe she could take him somewhere he could call home?

The female raised a delicate brow as she examined the other, nearly coming nose to nose in her curiosity. What kind of family unit was that? Was this the broken result of such a family, or lack thereof? Twisting her tail as she circled the soaked male, Inija left the her eyes open for interpretation. She was very intrigued indeed.

"Hm. How....unfortunate." A rogues life, what joy was that? Or were the spirits guiding him in such a path? Wait...the spirits? The lioness halted her odd prying as she tilted her nose to the sky with a light sniff. Her light eyes seemed to sharpen as she glanced here and there, as if connecting the specks of clouds. Ears pinned back as she momentarily forgot the other lion beside her. What was that whispering?

And then it stopped.

Pulling her muzzle into a short grin, Inija peered back at the black lion. "Why tell you? It seems you're supposed to find out for yourself." How interesting. He wasn't here to be found for just any reason. And the lioness never wandered anywhere without some guide of direction and purpose. It made the white lioness all the more ecstatic of returning home.

"I live in the land of swamps. Where only the lions of strong heart can hope to dwell. I wonder....are you strong enough?" Eyes slid over to Amadi, sending out an unspoken challenge.

Amadi was curious of the female, he watched her as she seemed to look at the sky and glanced up to see if there was anything interesting but no, just clouds.

"It wasn't all that unfortunate, father loved me he just wasn't all that good at being a father." He wasn't overly bothered bout leaving, his father would be better off without him and he hadn't seen any of his siblings, or mother since he was small.

He continued to watch her though. Could she hear something? He tried to listen as hard as he could but was interrupted with her speaking. How odd, he was sure she heard something, maybe it was nothing.

"Supposed to find out myself?" What? He narrowed his eyes looking at her in a curious way. She had confused him, how would she know what he was or wasn't suppose to do?

"Strong enough? I erm... am pretty strong?" After all he had to be with the way he was brought up. Physically he was in good shape, a little on the thin side but generally good shape. Mentally however, he probably wasn't all that strong. His father had taught him to fight not to think.

"Is that so? I always wondered what it took to be a parent. What with so many paths they could offer their young, yet it's all up to the young just how 'well' their parents were in the end." Taking a momentary seat to relax, the white lioness shrugged narrow shoulders.

"Heh, but I won't pry." Nah, she was more amused and focused on the others use of senses. Could he feel what she felt? What all Swamp lions could feel? Hnn, it didn't seem so. He still seemed lost, in more ways than one.

"You sure about that? You don't sound all too confident for such a basic question." Slowly overcome by fatigue, the lioness gave a quiet yawn. Oy, it had been a long day hadn't it? "Well only one way to find out, right? And you've rested long enough." Mind made up quite easily (thanks to spiritual whispers) Inija stood and walked on in her original course.

"Come along then. Unless you have other priorities to attend to."
