Lucretia hovered close beside Bhel, telling him excitedly about her day - she had made ice cubes shaped like little rabbits in her animal ice cube tray, watched cooking shows on television, and looked at all the pictures in the latest National Geographic magazine. ... Apparently, with Kumoru and Jilan at their new jobs, and Bhel at school, the Raevan had been left quite bored.
Bhel walked along with his book bag slung over one shoulder and a sort of tired frown on his face as he listened to his sister. Then she finally asked him about how his day at school had been, which Bhel was not really sure he felt like discussing. Not that it had been bad, but he was worn out, and as irritating as his sister's chatter was, listening to Lucretia was easier than talking himself.
After a moment, Lucretia got impatient and wrapped her ice-cold fingers around Bhel's arm, though, and the boy shouted in surprise and shot her a glare before responding, "School was okay, I guess. Sorta boring."
They were working on reading, which Bhel had started to do with his father before starting school, but it sure felt like the head start had not particularly helped. He had maybe about half the letters down pat, but the b's and d's and p's still confused him, and it always seemed wrong that c sometimes sounded like s and sometimes like k.
"Did you do anything fun? What do kids do at school, anyway?" the Raeven pressed, flaring out her glowing wings a little as they stopped at the corner to wait for the bus.
"Oh yeah, and we have to stop at the store for more oatmeal and apples, and uh... milk," she interjected when Bhel did not immediately answer. "Daddy said I could get some dry ice, too, and you can get one of the big smile cookies."
The bull Fa'e let out a longsuffering sigh; he was used to having a floating, half-finished sister, but it was easy to forget sometimes that she had never really been a kid like him, and so had no idea what it was like.
"Learned letters," he told her simply. "Had recess. Had art class. Ate lunch. Then storytime."
Maybe there would be someone on the bus to talk to. Otherwise, the smile cookie better have an extra M&M eye to make up for Lucretia's interrogation.

Mikhail had never been to school, and was rather glad of it...from what he could gather, it would be not his kind of thing for all sorts of reasons. He'd actually liked being taught by his guardian, and the thought of learning from a stranger in a room full of other people just wasn't appealing. There were probably some holes in his education, sure, especially when it came to things like art, music, and literature, but it wasn't that important. Really.
It was always kind of strange to see whole packs of children, but beyond that, he didn't pay them much attention...just tried to steer clear, really. They were little germ factories, as far as the angel was concerned, and he was not a fan of germs. Nothing against the kids themselves, since some were alright, but he still didn't trust them to be clean.
For similar reasons, he didn't like things like buses. Public transportation could also not be trusted to be clean. He didn't care how far he had to walk or fly, it was better than taking a bus. And so he strolled right past the stop and the pair waiting there.

Lucretia looked about to continue pressing Bhel for details about his day at school when someone walked by in front of them, sporting a magnificent pair of wings.
... The girl's own pair, nowhere near as large, flared out a little, and, she forgot her brother for the moment in favor of staring at the man as he passed by.
"Who are you?" she called out suddenly to him, before he was too far away from them. Obviously not Raevan, since he reached all the way to the ground.
The bull Fa'e perked up, too, glancing up from pretending to read the bus time chart, and feeling some childish primal urge to grab a fistful of feathers. He resisted for the moment, though, and just stepped out onto the sidewalk to get a better look at the guy while his sister did the talking. If nothing else, maybe it would keep her from talking to him while they waited for the bus.
Still, he decided he did not really have anything else to do while they waited for the bus, and found himself curious about the guy anyway. Bhel tilted his head to the side and crossed his arms, sizing up the winged man, and figured he would jump in if his sister started talking to him too much.
"Hey, you with the wings!" Curiosity, for the moment, overruled manners.

Huh? At first, Mik assumed that he wasn't being the one spoken to, until the 'you with the wings.' He stopped, and a quick look and determined that he was the only person with wings in the vicinity...well, except for the float-y girl who'd called out to him. But what for? Perplexed, he asked, "What?"

Lucretia stared at the stranger as she drifted closer. "What's your name?" she asked him, putting a hand to her chest before adding, "I'm Lucretia."
He was good-looking, she thought. The huge wings held the brunt of the wild girl's attention, but she also studied the markings on his face as she drew closer... perhaps encroaching on personal space before she stopped.
"I'm Bhel," the bull Fa'e interjected, deciding he did not want to be left out. He gave the stranger considerably more space, though.
