Username:Awesome pigtails Name of horse:Adventure Prompt::: The foal has wandered off on his own and into a strange forest. Does he meet another horse there? Get into trouble? Discover something amazing? Tell the foal's adventure through his eyes, and show a clear understanding of his personality. Response: "Owch!"The foal turned around to look at what made him trip."Stupid log."he muttered. He continued on through the forest, and looked at the wonders around him.Bugs, leaves, fruits, berries, animals whooshed by.-Waaaaiiiit a second!Berries don't whoosh by!-He stopped and looked more carefully at the bushes. Well,in THIS forest, apparently, they can.He looked on,astounded as a whole PARADE of fruits marched on the ground.-Can those be....ants?-Vent wondered. He put his muzzle closer up to the fruits. They were,in fact,RED ants. That fact was learned by Vent when an ant bit him on the nose."YOWEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"Shaking his head wildly, and buring his nose in the ground,Vent finally got the ant off. His muzzle still burning,Vent was NOT in a happy mood.Luckily,a gurgle of a stream could be heard in the distance.Vent immediately cheered up,and galloped toward the noise. "Ahhh...."it was a relief to be able to stick his nose in cool water. "Venture!"The foal raised his head and cocked his ears to better hear the noise. "Adventure!Time to eat!"-Mom!-thought the foal as he raced toward the meadow, and promising to visit the forest again.

username- Pale Mist. name of horse- Kiri prompt- a]The foal is separated. response- Kiri looked around, his eyes wide with anxiety. Where was his mum? She was just there? His head shot from left to right cutting through the tick, morning mist. He couldn't see them. He had distanced himself from his small family herd because he had seen some exceptional green grass. He did not whinny to tell anyone for he assumed that they were not going to move while he grazed. But they did. And now, even his loudest, most frightened and desperate call was not returned. Kiri tried to stay calm. His mother would notice of his absence and return, right? She would worry and rush back to him, right? But....he was all alone in the mist, possibly in danger, right? Kiri's legs bolted to his left. He could not stay in one place, what if a wolf found him? He was young, it would hurt him, he can't defend himself! His eyes darted around him, trying to catch glimpses of wolves, trees, or his herd. Anything to tell him that he should turn.
Suddenly, the ground under his small hooves fell to the ground. He had jumped back just in time, for if he hadn't,m he would have fallen to the bottom of the tall cliff. Kiri could only emit a small, helpless squeak before he ran in the opposite direction. "Momma! Poppa! Where are you?" He cried, his heart pounding. His little leg tripped over a rough rock, causing the colt to tumble onto the ground. It was only a scratch, but he didn't want to get up. He wanted his momma. He continued to whinny until his voice gave out. But this time, he was a teary, snotty mess. The mist was also retreating. He could see more and more of the landscape he had hidden himself in. And once the mist was all but gone, his eyes widened even more in surprise. Surrounding him was a huge field. It seemed to stretched to each horizon. It was speckled with multi colored flowers. And only a few hundred yards away, was his herd. They were running towards him, and leading them was his mother. He stood up and galloped towards them. he had never been so relieved in his life.

Username: Velveteen Angel Name of horse: Niyol Prompt: [A]:: The young foal is separated from herd one day. How did he get separated? What does he do about it? Is he afraid, or does he feel a new sense of adventure? Response:
Leaning low to the ground as he galloped up the hill, he could hear his own heartbeat throbbing in his ears, drowning out the noise of his hooves on the wet morning grass. He'd barely reached the top of the hill before he paused. He didn't want to stop, he had to keep going, still, he hesitated and glanced back the way he'd came. It was then that he heard them. They were screaming in panic, they'd noticed he was gone. Pawing the ground with his front hoof and practically dancing in the spot with indecision, he tossed his head, dying to scream back to let them know he was safe. There had been no predator who had taken him, this was just something he had to do. 'I'm sorry, mother,' he thought softly, navigating down the other side of the hill, mindful of the slippery ground. 'I'll come back to you one day, but I can't grow in that herd. I need to do this own my own.' He closed his eyes, his mothers shrieks ringing in his ears from however far away they were by now. Taking off at a gallop, he tried to block out the sound with his own heart beat but even as he ran, he could still hear them. Begging him to come back. Damn it, why couldn't they understand? He needed to do this, this was something he had to do. It was like breathing for him, he couldn't become who he wanted to become by staying in that stifling herd with that little land, isolated from the world.
He ran until nightfall, stopping only to drink from the rivers he passed. He was exhausted when he found a thicket in the forest in which he could rest. He was still young, so his slender body fit within the bushes, hidden from view. The night was falling around him and, as he closed his eyes, he allowed himself to regret. He hadn't wanted to leave the herd by himself, he had tried to get the other colts and fillies to come with him but they'd refused. They would be sleeping beside their mother now, curled up in her warmth. Niyol's mother would be alone, lacking her colt to nurture and protect. Niyol curled into himself, shivering at the cold of the night. He didn't miss the herd leaders, he didn't miss his friends, he didn't miss their lands or their rules but he missed her, his mother. If only she had come with him, but she had always laughed when he'd mentioned his desire to leave and forge his own way. Was she laughing now? Did she think he'd come back? Firming his resolve against the cold, he stared out into the darkness, watching for any creatures who favoured alone colts. He would make it, he would become something his mother would be proud of, then he'd go back. He only hoped his mother would forgive him for it. This was just something he had to do.

Username:Caffeinecraving Name of horse:Jai (pronounced Jay) Prompt: (B) :: The foal has wandered off on his own and into a strange forest. Does he meet another horse there? Get into trouble? Discover something amazing? Tell the foal's adventure through his eyes, and show a clear understanding of his personality. Response:
Golden wings and fuzzy antenna were all that it took to amuse Jai. Snorting he followed after the moth. It flew up and headed toward the darkness of the woods. Jai looked back at his mother before taking a step after it. He debated long and hard before taking another step. No one was watching. He took another step and watched once more for anyone to stop him. No one did. Smirking at his triumph he followed after the almost invisible moth. And so unnoticed by the rest of the herd, he walked into the woods.
"Here moth-y moth-y moth-y...." walking, not running, the foal looked into the darkness around him. Something snapped. His ears flicked back. Was that a twig snapping? Something snapped again. He twisted himself around to stare at the spot where the newest snap had come from. Seeing nothing but the shadowy darkness and the dark blue bark of the trees. The woods were amazingly dark for the time of day. Mid day and it was as dark as midnight. Jai shook himself. Nothing would hurt him. He was Jai. He picked up his pace just a little. The moth... he just needed the moth. Jai squinted into the dark looking for any sign of the small insect.
"Where are you going in such a hurry... its just about lunch time... shouldn't you be with your mother?" Jai spun around to stare into crystal blue eyes. "Its not that i don't enjoy the sudden drop in but you really should have called first." Jai watched the two suspended blue orbs. He took a step back and watched as a pitch black wolf stepped out into the small patch of sunlight.
Jai let out a small squeak. The wolf was at least his size, probably bigger. He swallowed thickly and then raised his head."W-what do you want!" He pushed his ears back and let out a snort. "This is herd land your on..." Jai knew the laws of the herd. The herd was something he took pride in and wanted to be a part of. So as a foal he knew more then a lot of the adults on herd status and different small traits... But one thing every horse knew was the boundary lines. He nodded his head.
He watched as a smirk came to the wolf's sleek black muzzle. "You aren't on herd land anymore... you just crossed your line." The black wolf moved between the colt and the line."So that means you and i are going to get to know each other very well." The wolf launched itself into the air. His white teeth glittered. Jai ducked and the wolf went over him. Jai turned and faced the running wolf. the sleek black shape came toward him. Jai braced himself and gave a barking cry. Only what came out was much fuller then what Jai had ever produced. The Wolf slid to a stop. Jai watched as the black wolf tucked his tail and started to back away. Jai held up his head. He just scared off a 200 pound wolf. He turned, satisfied, and crashed into the leg of his mother.
Gulping lightly he looked into the mare's hazel eyes. He felt a grounding coming on. Sighing he hung his head. The only person that could get to him was his mother...

Username: Scaramouche Fandango Name of horse: Halian Prompt: B Response:
He'd yearned to go wandering, to have an adventure of his own. He'd heard the others talking about the sights they'd seen on their own, heard the yearlings boast of the enemies they'd defeated, herd the fillies giggle to each other about the beautiful birds they'd encountered. And he’d wondered very much what life was like elsewhere, in the mysterious world of trees and shadows. He'd always been somewhat small, and his mother had always been incredibly protective, so it was the closest thing he'd ever experienced to a miracle when she took him to the edge of a small copse of trees on the border of a great forest and told him to be back by the sun's apogee, and to be smart. He understood what she meant. Don't go so far that, were something to arise, she couldn't hear his cries and be there to defend him. The subtext was troubling for the foal; while he knew full well that his mother would never send him into a situation where she thought there would be the slightest need of rescue, he also wondered why she insisted on giving him limits. Perhaps she just felt the need to maintain her circle of protection, or perhaps she just didn’t want him to get lost. The excitement of being allowed a journey on his own easily outweighed any limitations his mother inflicted upon him; he felt proud, like a full-grown stallion when he took his first few steps into the cool green light of the forest.
At first, the little male’s adventure was fun. He picked his way through the trees, feeling like a bold explorer. But after a while, the close spaces between the trunks was no longer novel; rather, it was confining and uncomfortable. Being a horse, he knew he wasn't built for forests. His hooves, designed by the gods of men and horses, while perfect for beating a rhythmic tattoo over the sweeping plains, became suddenly tender as sharp sticks and dessicated, bone-shard pine needles wormed their way into the most sensitive bits of his feet. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting a sun-dappled pattern on his coat, the sort of pattern one could recognize in the fur of the wolf or the eyes of the mountain lion. Nervously, the colt cast his gaze up to the boughs of the trees arcing overhead. What if a predator sought refuge among them? The thick canopy could provide easy cover for a puma, and he was keenly aware of the big cats' climbing abilities. As no mountain cat dropped upon him, he cautiously continued deeper into the forest. Thorns snagged at his pelt as he navigated through the underbrush, leaving his mane and tail snarled and a series of nasty weals across his pale sides. And, most discomforting of all, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was intently watching him, following his every move. It was eery and uncomfortable, and he tried his best to get it out of his mind. Predators hunt at night, he repeated to himself, for he did know that most of the dangerous creatures preferred to move in the cover of darkness.
Taking refuge in this fact didn’t help much. However, it seemed that every animal in the woods was ready and willing to distract him. The forest, he noted, was much noisier and livelier than the plains. It was almost as if this was a whole world of its own, self-contained in the trees. While the birdsong was lovely, with various songs overlapping, there other, more sinister noises pervading the avian harmony. The brush crashed around him, the sound of other animals taking parallel paths to his, while hoots, growls, and snufflings told him he wasn't the only quadruped in the woods. It was clear from the nature of some of these bestial sounds were predatory in origin, and while the makers of most of these sounded small, they still had a dangerous air to them. To prove his point, a small, red-furred canine crossed his path. Alarmed by its sudden appearance, he stepped back, his foreleg carried bent in midair and his ears pinned to his head as the fox glared peevishly up at him, its maw bloodied from a prior meal. He could see its sharp white teeth curving towards its gullet through its sneering lips, and then, as suddenly as it appeared, it vanished into the bracken. Their encounter over, the foal felt his heart’s rapid percussion in his chest. He was quite startled indeed, and felt as though he needed a drink. Through the sharp scents of the vegetation and the acrid pong of the detritus littering the ground, he knew he smelled water. Pricking his ears, he listened intently for it. A few moments of seeking provided him with a bearing, and he gingerly minced through the brambly brush until he found what turned out to be a rather disappointing source of refreshment.
A small stream of water burbled its way over a stony swath cut into the forest floor, culminating in a broad pool coated in green algae and a brown, oily film of dirt. Flaring his nostrils at the sight and smell of the musty pool, the foal eyed the trickling water of the creek. As he gazed at it with a critical eye, he wondered if it was even potable. His thirst won him over, though, and he dipped his head to the creek. It wasn't like the wide rivers that cut their way through the plains; rather, it was muddy, with a thick swirl of sediment traveling along in the current. It was a better source of drinking water than the nearby pool, though. Although the pool was fed by moving water, it was small and stagnant; a breeding ground for leeches and mosquitoes. Instinctively, he swished his tail against his side and tossed his head, shaking out his soft fringe of a mane and letting it resettle against his neck. Biting insects were one of life's most bothersome annoyances, and mosquitoes were one of the worst. They were too small to be easily spotted like horseflies, and they preferred the thin skin that couldn't be scratched by rubbing against boulders or having a good roll. The woods, he'd noted, were rife with the diminutive nuisances. At least one could alleviate the itching of their bites by scratching up against the coarse bark of a tree. As the tiny bugs nipped at his nose, he snorted angrily and turned tail, heading out of the woods and back towards the herd. He’d heard once that those who didn’t stay with the herd would seek refuge in the woods, and now, even with his brief foray into the strange new world, he seriously wondered why. Consigned to forests like this one, they couldn’t run free, and they couldn’t enjoy the company of others. They would have to live their lives with the chattering things and the mosquitoes, drinking from muddy ponds and brooks. The life of a lone mustang in the forest seemed completely reprehensible to him, and though the herd might seem stifling at times, it was certainly better than being alone. He supposed that one would have to be seriously flawed to actually want to live in the dark forest as opposed to the sun-filled plains, and as he saw the tall trees give way to saplings, he whinnied with relief. Adventures in the forest were all well and good... but they were nothing compared to life on the open plains!

Username: dawns_aura Name of horse: Sarki (“chief”) Prompt: B-The foal has wandered off on his own and into a strange forest. Does he meet another horse there? Get into trouble? Discover something amazing? Tell the foal's adventure through his eyes, and show a clear understanding of his personality.
Response:
He was often warned that his curiousity would get him into trouble one day, but Sarki would often just let the words flow in one ear and out of the other. It wasn’t that he was rebellious, rather he had an insatiable need to KNOW. Besides that, the herd was there for his protection, they wouldn’t allow him to get into situations over his head. That was what the herd was, a family. A safety net to fall back on when things got tough, and a bunch of someone’s to watch your back.
It was because he knew he could count on the others that Sarki felt confident enough to explore on his own, ranging further and further out in his quest for knowledge. But he was always sure to make certain that someone would see when he went away. See what direction he was going. After all, they couldn’t protect him if they didn’t know where he was.
Looking back behind him, Sarki was surprised and a little uneasy to note that he was all alone. Why didn’t anyone follow him this time? He felt a shiver of fear, which he quickly quashed. No, he wasn’t afraid. After all, he was growing up. He didn’t need to constantly be watched like some baby. He was ready for an adventure on his own. Besides, the siren call of the forest was too strong to resist. What was it like?
Cautiously, one hoof in front of the other, Sarki made his way into the edge of the forest. Ears perked up, swiveling to catch every sound he took his first steps into the unknown, without the comfort of knowing that someone would be there to watch his back. Body trembling with nerves and adrenaline, the young colt took a few deep breaths. And then began to take in his surroundings.
Sharp eyes noted the trees that were pressing in on him from all sides, prickly looking bushes and thick mosses, and all sorts of plants he had never seen before. Even sharper ears took in the cacophony of sounds not heard on the plains. There were incessant bird call, the hum of insects, the sound of a stream flowing nearby. The wind whispered through the trees. So many different sights and sounds that faded into one, becoming overwhelming for the poor inquisitive colt.
The sensory overload became too much, and even the thought of what he could see and find and learn in that place dwindled in significance as his head pounded. It was all too much for him. Turning tail he bolted away from the strangeness that was the forest and back to the safety of the plains and the herd.
Ok, so maybe he wasn’t ready yet to have an adventure like that on his own. But one day. One day he would return to that forest and ferret out every last one of its hidden secrets and mysteries.
For now though, he just wanted to return home.
Curiousity may get him into trouble some day like he is constantly being told- but the knowledge would be more than worth it.

This was rather fun. XD
Username: YamiBakuraChan Name of horse: Nasophel Prompt: B Response: There is never one way to get into trouble, especially for a young colt that is always curious. Maybe… a little too curious for his own good. So for Nasophel to wander off unintentionally on his own and into a strange forest really wasn’t so surprising. Despite that fact and realizing a bit too late that he wasn’t by his mother anymore Nasophel felt a bit of happiness that he was free for a little bit. Well, he was also free that one time he got stuck up on a cliff and was too scared to come down on his own. Or the other time he got surrounded by alligators and his father had to come and rescue him. Or that other time he…okay maybe he wasn’t too curious for his own good and just lacked a bit of luck in the adventure department.
Anyway moving on, Nasophel looked up into the treetops sparkled with light and snorted in slight annoyance. It was going to get dark soon and he had no idea which way he had come from. Just because the butterfly was pretty and kept moving didn’t mean he was absentminded, or as his friends put it trained in the ways of a one-track mind. Be that as it may Nasophel trotted along the semi-dirt path in the direction he thought was the right way. It was getting a bit brighter, if the sun flashing in his eyes was anything to go by, and he felt the urge to go just a tad faster. The darkness behind him was a bit scary for his young mind to comprehend. The more he thought about it the more he wanted to be safely by his mother’s side and in his herd.
A rustle came from behind and a snap of a twig startled the colt so bad he jumped into a fast trot. He wanted to get out of here, he wanted to safe again.
“What’re you doing Nasophel? Chipmunk got your tongue?” the familiar voice of one of his friends called from behind.
Nostrils flared in surprise and Nasophel skidded to a quick halt. Upon looking further ahead and then behind him, he realized very quickly he actually hadn’t wandered very far. In fact he was near the water hole him and his friends played at nearly every day.
“Hey, Naso, you alive in there?” his friend asked.
“Yeah…I’m here,” he muttered and inwardly blushing.
That was the last time he allowed a butterfly to distract him….hopefully….but with Nasophel him and his friends could never be sure.

Username: dawns_aura Name of horse: Niera Prompt: b-The mare is dreaming of what she wishes to become some day. What is this dream? Does she wish to have a family? To become a herd leader? To go off on her own? To explore? Tell her story of what she wishes to be in the future.
Response:
Niera had never known the love of family, the support of a herd. For as long as she could remember, she was always alone. Forced to the outside, always needing to care for herself. At one point in time, there was nothing she wanted more than to belong. To have friends, a family to be there for her no matter what. But as time past, that wish turned to ash as she was ignored, cast aside or betrayed. The once optimistic filly grew into a jaded, cynical mare.
Looking up at the night sky, with the cold stars mocking her with their light, Niera sighed. Letting go of the past and her hopes and dreams was harder than she could have ever believed. Out the corner of her eye she caught a glimpse of a shooting star. She remembered hearing a lone mare telling her foal that if they saw a shooting star to make wish, and it would come true.
Snorting derisively at the thought of such bunk, a small part of the mare still wanted to believe. I'm so tired of being alone. I just wish I could find someone, anyone, to take care of me....

Username: Caffeinecraving Name of horse: Quidel Prompt: [A]The mare has encountered a rather frightening stallion all on her own, and has no other horse to protect her. What does she do? Stand her ground? Flee? Create a clever diversion? Outwit him? The personality of this mare is in your hands! Response: An mare would be a little put off by giant shoulders and a face that said to bug off. Not Qui. Quidel simple snorted and continued walking. The stallion however had different plans. With a carefully placed step he was directly in front of her once again. She sighed and pulled a face. “I really don’t approve of this.” The stallion snorted and she noticed his ears were pinned back.
“Now now… its not like im doing something horrible. This is the shortest way… and you don’t own it.” She twitched her tail angrily. The stallions voice when he spoke nearly rocked her.
“You are in my territory.” He stomped one very large hoof. “And I say you are staying here.” Being a loner and a free spirit that triggered something deep inside her. Fight… Fight for everything she knew and wanted. She put on a new face.
“Your right… I’m so sorry I have trespassed. Please…” She walked up to him and fighting the small inkling to run she rubbed her side against him, very much like a cat. “Let me make it up to you.” She smiled walking around in a circle. He followed her with his eyes until she went too far and he turned with her.
“Alright… ill let you make it up to me… You will be the 10th mare in our herd.” She didn’t let it show outwardly how much she didn’t want that. She continued walking around in a circle. “Ok… But that’s not what I was… thinking.” She over exaggerated looking him over head to toe. The stallion seemed to puff up but stopped turning and let her walk around him. She smiled to herself. Perfect. That’s what she wanted. Him to be comfortable with her walking round him.
“Well… if that’s how you feel.” The stallion blew lightly and Qui circled him one more time. He was talking… She wasn’t listening. One more time around and she would go. She came around his front and she snorted putting a leg out to stop her. She inwardly cursed. “Would you stop that blasted circling.” She frowned. “I don’t approve of swearing…” She shook her head and took a step away. She didn’t know what to do. So she looked around for help. There was a pine tree with low hanging branches right behind the stallion. She smirked but turned it into a wanton look. “Yes… im sorry ill stop…” She walked toward him. The stallion out of seductive interest took a step back. She kept walking forward and he walked back. He stopped just a step away from the tree. She frowned. With a seductive swagger she walked forward enough to push him into the tree. Everything happened quickly. The stallion reared and she bolted.
She knew she was quick but she didn’t know she could be that quick. She dodged trees and in the back ground she could hear the stallion coming up behind her. But she could see the edge of the territory. She ran faster and when she crossed the border she skidded to a halt. Staring back at the stallion from the safe side she panted. “You couldn’t have me even if you were the last stallion on earth”

Username: YamiBakuraChan Name of horse: Liriim Prompt: B Response:
The stars above me, they were so bright. Little twinkling dots shining their light down upon me. The moon was big and powerful, casting a glow around the area. There was no sound save for the soft breathing of my herd mates, their minds heavy with sleep. Everything was peaceful. Everything was calm. I love it. It was so beautiful.
And yet, I felt something was missing. I wasn't alone per-say. I had my herd with me, but for some reason I felt that there was something that I wanted to do. That there was a path being set before me and I just didn't know what it was yet. Has anyone else ever had that inkling?
Thoughts of leaving had crossed my mind in the past but until now I had never really felt that it was time. I had my family here, my friends, but something was still pulling at me to leave and I didn't know why. Why did I want to leave? Silently looking over at one of my friends and her newly born filly that path that wasn't fully before me started to come. I wanted a family. I wanted to explore outside the boundaries of my territory. I wanted to see the mountains, the plains, the forests. Anything and everything I could.
I wanted to find my place in a world outside of the walls of my familiar herd. I wanted to create and/or be a part of a different herd. A herd of travelers. I herd of new people. The pull to do so came at me so suddenly it actually surprised me. Never before had feelings come so strongly and so fast.
The more I thought about it the more the thoughts of telling my family came. Honestly I didn't know when I should tell them. Did I even want to tell them to begin with? Father was always protective of his children and Mother was pretty much the same way. They liked the set standards put in place upon our herd coming into fruition. But I...was the opposite. I loved changed. I love the thought of change. It always made me excited to do something new. Mother always said that I took after her own father.
Quite frankly too, I idolized my Grandfather. He was everything that I wanted to be when he was alive. He was a leader, a traveler, a warrior, everything I dreamed to become. The more I thought about the more excited I became. I couldn't wait until morning. I had to start on this as soon as I could. Nothing could stall me anymore.
"I'll go towards the south," I murmured softly looking towards the rolling hills, "that is where I could go."
And with a happy sigh I laid my head down on the dewy grass, with those twinkling stars and moon above me, and fell into a deep slumber. Tomorrow couldn't come fast enough now.
