What are you talking about? Vaan wasn't the main character Balthier was. =D

Seriously though? FF12 has it's moments. It does not have much character development, as you said, but it isn't focusing on them really.

It's just a different way they made the game.

I still liked playing it for the story and that's what matters to me. (not completely, of course)

I was really disappointed with most of the characters too, and I didn't think the story was even that great... The two are connected in a way, too. Part of why all the other games' stories felt so epic was because of everything the characters personally had invested in them. In XII, most of them are kind of tagging along... The only ones with a connection to the overall plot are Ashe and Balthier, really. Basch to an extent... But overall, there just wasn't much feeling put into the story, and even besides there weren't many of the great twists that Final Fantasy's so great at.

The storyline and characters were irksome to me, but i did really enjoy the setting of ivalice as a whole. even back in Vagrant Story times. The License Board was an interesting concept, and I di rally like the races present, even though as Ivalice became more ane more explored the number of races soared lol

Not really. =O I mean, yes, he's the player character, but he's not really one of the principle characters in the story.

Vaan was the main character.

Oho, someone doesn't know a joke. Balthier likes to state it in-game....multiple times:
"I play the leading man, who else?"
"I'm only here to see how the story unfolds. Any self-respecting leading man would do the same."
" I hope you haven't forgotten my role in this little story. I'm the leading man. You know what they say about the leading man. He never dies."

It's a running gag.

Then there's the fact hat more people like him more than Vaan.
Hell, he'll probably get a spot for the next Dissidia game over Vaan. His brother already did. >w<

He just has so much more to do with the story than Vaan. It's just fun to make him the main character.

when i first started playing it i thought it was amazing, due to the graghics and even the game play, but i got kinda repetitive in a sense.

According to the Final Fantasy wiki...

Quote:
Initially, Basch was intended by the developers to be the main character of the game; however, they shifted the focus to Vaan and Penelo late in development after reconsidering the players' demographics.
