Chagrin pawed at the ground, looking around him, there were wolves of all colors and sizes, all striving for a similar purpose. To bring peace and hold it among the land, to help others and do what was right. Amongst them he saw many he had never seen before, some who looked as though they ere related and otehr who looked as though she had joined the strange pack on their own, leaving family behind. And there, standing with them, stood Numair. But he was older, stronger and stood tall. But where was the rest of the family? Aranel, Myrle, Jayel and Kazim. They were no where to be found, the wolves seemed to surround him, their friendly faces turning hostile, teeth bared at him. his eyes grew wide and his tail tucked beneath him, he was defensless against so many. "Numair, Please...what is going on?" he called out to his son, pleading. But Numair only turned his head away in shame before the pack decended upon him, biting at his legs, tearing open the old wounds and making fresh ones.
The large male shot up from his sleep, shaking and livid. He stared around the den only to find his family together as a whole, undisturbed and Numair still a pup. He felt cold to the bone so he lifted himself up quietly and made his way out of the den to warm himself fading light outside. it would not be for too long teh rest of the family slept. He stared out at the sinking sun in the sky and climbed up onto the top of the rock and lay down, feeling it's warmth seep into his fur and warm him. but the scars around his forepaws throbbed as if they were fresh and should be seeping blood. "Another one of those damned dreams..." he muttered to himself. At one point they had faded but now, they were returning again.

Numair opened one eye after hearing his father leave the den, he had always been a light sleeper and something seemed different in the air. After telling his father he needed to speak to him he had yet to find the words, but something told him… it had to be today. He quietly stood, shaking himself of the omens to come and padded after his father, silently making his way to where his father thought in peace.
“da? Are you alright?”

The male lifted his head up and smiled down at his son, glad that what he had seen ebfore had been nothing but a dream, but the bites of teh dream wolves still stung his skin, but he refused to let his son see it in him. "Yes, I'm fine Numair, do not worry. My dreams just were not pleasing with me, do come up up here with me and watch the sun set." he said, slowly moving himself over slightly to make room for his son. It was so rare he got to spend time with any one of his pups to just talk to them and really get the father-child connection he so longed for. He feared the day they would all be grown and leave him and Myrle, but it was something every young wolf did, but sometimes, sometimes they would come back and visit.

Nu slowly made his way up to his father, with his tail tucked between his legs. why was it he was suddenly so nervious? "Da do you remember when I said I needed to talk to you?" He shiftged his eyes to face the sun rather than see the expressions cross his fathers face. He lowered his head to his paws, thinking of the words that would do the least damage. What would his mother think? what would his sisters feel and that bloke of a brother? Would he be missed? Nu looked down and then back up at his father hoping none of his pain was caused by the way Numair was.

He nodded his head. "Yes of course, now is a wonderful time seeing as we are not surrounded by the others and I expect we still ahve some time to cherish in a bit of father-son talk. What is it you needed to speak with me about?" he asked tiltign his head and little and leaned forward to lick his son's head between the ears. Though Numair's colors more resembled his mothers he still held his spots and his eyes. Numair was probably the most like himself and he liked that. not the largest of the pups, but Chagrin himself was not on the larger end of male wolves as it were. Either way, Numair would grow to be a strong wolf and very intelligent, 'Grin could already see it in his son's eyes now.

Nu looked down, blushing under his thick coat from the affection. “You know how I have always been in love with your stories… well I ran into someone that gave me an idea, one I’ve kept quiet for a long time… I want to be a knight da, I wan to help people and defend those that cant defend themselves….” His voice trailed off as he thought of the little blue girl from a bit back, she never let fear hold her back. Nu allowed himself to draw from that energy she seemed to radiate and face his father. “I want to find others that are like me, that want to make the world a better place, but I don’t want to hurt you or mom.”

Chagrin's eyes faltered for a moment and looked away. He shifted a little uncomfortable, just what he had been afraid of, but he knew it had to come eventually, but he had hoped it would have been longer than this before he had to deal with the pain on letting his children go. "Yes, if that is want you want to do Numair then you should do it. You need to follow your heart to wherever it takes you." he said, feeling a ball in his throat as he spoke the words he almsot didn't want to say but knew were what Numair needed to hear. "Don't worry about me and your mother. We'll be fine. I've lived here a long time and we'll be here a good bit longer. If you ever want to come back, even just to see us, we shall be here for you." he said proudly.

Numair felt the tension in the air and whimpered, butting his head against his father. “I would never leave you for longer then I needed to. I would come back eventually, especially if I found something that would make you and mom proud of me. He turned his head slightly, trying his best not to look sullen but failing miserably. “I want to follow my heart, my dreams… if any of you need me do you promise you will have them come find me?”

Chagrin nuzzled his son. "I know Numair, I know. And you would be welcomed here as though you had never left." he said holding back his voice from breaking. He hoped he sone would not leave too soon, but at least he knew the day was coming, and it would be a painful day, but a proud one nonetheless. "I assure you, if we ever need you, I will even seek you out myself, even if I do not, do not be surprised if I come to see you and this pack you long to be a part of. You have always made me proud Numair and you always will."

Numair looked up at his father and smiled, nuzzling against him much like a cat. “I’m glad you understand, I won’t leave right now, but soon, very soon.” His mind drifted to his troublesome sister and he sighed, at least he had his father’s word he would take her to him if all else failed. The sun piqued on the horizon and Numair barked happily, the colors were simply ravishing, he needed that muse to keep him going. Color, roses, love, family, warmth… it was all he would ever need.

"Of course Numair, At some point we all leave home looking for something more. I think it's just in our blood to do so. To long to see what is beyond where we begin and see what else is waiting out there for us." he said looking out at the sunset again. it warmed him. He knew his son would be safe, he would be watched over and a home would always be open for him no matter what happened. "it's a beautiful sight isn't it?" he said witha smile. "You, I believe it's about time I took you out for your first real hunt, just the two of us." he said turning back to Numair.

Numair smiled and nodded, light on his toes at the aspect of such a thing. His first hunt, at so young. He waited for his father to decide on which way to go, before bounding after him unsteady on his feet. He would be great one day, Nu truly believed that. Happiness radiating off of him he ran, glad for at least someone to understand him. At least someone would accept him even after he leaves… even his father could not speak for his mother or siblings, he was taking a risk, but he was pleased, Nu would follow his heart to the sunset.
