Sunset was a particularly favourite time for Blackwort of the Watership Down Warren Owsla. It was the time he considered the most fun, when the warren was most at ease and active. Even Lord Frith himself was at ease during ths time - before he went to bed, he always lay calm and easy in the red sky after his day of work.
Still, Lord Frith had his work cut out for him, and so did he. The black rabbit had been busy patrolling the long edges of the territory, sniffing for stoats or smaller ground dwelling predators, or intruders. He had found a large rat several days ago and sent it on it's way, however, the rabbit was not content to leave it just there. Rodents, mice and rats in particular, were persistant. And their presence would mean more food competition for his warren. The buck rose up on his hinds, tattered ears high over his head as he tried to take every sight and sound in to ensure that everything was indeed safe.
Content that there was nothing in the immediate patch of land, he made a solitary thump on the ground with his foot and moved on, somewhat dissapointed. The Owsla was proud and enjoyed the thought of being able to defend his burrow. Although he did not like to fight specifically, he would have hoped there was something around to reinforce his position.
Soon enough, he came up the down, slowing as he noticed the lighter colorued male. He had a bit of weight about his shoulders and Blackwort vaguely wondered if wasn't already an Owsla himself.
"Hie there," He said in a polite manner, yet still managing his gruff air at the same time. "Have you come out to Silflay? The Down is clear in the lower land," He sat on his hinds and momentarily itched at his side, "Good eating down there for a bigger stronger adventurous one like yourself."
