Derry was wandering around on the outskirts of the Warren's territory, finding a berry bush that might still have a few berries left on them. It was nearing Autumn time and he knew that the berry bushes might not have anymore berries on them soon. He had to get a little fatter if he was going to survive the Winter months without his parents. He pricked up his ears and stood upright on his hindlegs. Had he heard a bush rustle? Was it a homba near the Warren? He hoped that it wasn't. He had never been this far away from the main area of the Warren before and he was taking a big risk in doing so. He flicked an ear slightly, on alert if that rustle did belong to a homba.

In fact, the rustling turned out not to be a hombra at all, but something that could be equally as fearsome in the right situation. An Owsla officer. Blackthorn stepped from the bush with an unhurried gait, amber eyes trained on the young buck out wandering so far from the warren. Pausing he flicked an ear, allowing himself a moment to study the youngster, trying to stir up the buck's name from the depths of his memory.

"Greetings.." The dark Owsla male rumbled, his voice as deep as the colour of his fur, nearly blending the solid-bodied buck in with the shadows of the bush behind him, despite the weak autumnal moon that struggled to pick out tan and grey fur.

Blackthorn had been on patrol around the edge of the warren's territory, out looking for adventurous young rabbits such as this one. It was a touchy time at Watership Down and he wanted no new incident adding to the unrest among the warren's tunnels. Flopping down on his haunches the imposing scared buck groomed his torn ear calmly. There was no need to frighten this youth as of yet, and he knew his appearance alone was often enough to cause a momentary panic in the youngsters of the warren. So he kept his actions casual and slow, intense gaze resting on the buck before him thoughtfully.

Derry nearly fell over when the rustle revealed itself to be another rabbit. He didn't expect another rabbit to be this far away from the Warren. He figured that he was the only one out here. He lowered his body back down onto the ground as he pinned his ears back against his skull. "Hello," he said in a slightly timid voice.

He stared at the scars that adorned the other buck's hindquarter and ear and he suddenly felt a hint of pity towards the other rabbit.

One russet-tipped ear lifted, angling towards the somewhat timid youngster. The Owsla male waiting until the other had settled once again before speaking, wondering silently if that alone might be anough to send this one running back to the burrow. "Enjoying silflay out here by yourself?" He enquired, voice curious and friendly, well.. friendly for an Owsla anyway.

After a moment Blackthorn couldn't help a faint smirk, having noticed both the staring and the faint fall of the other rabbit's expression. Surely the youngster was not upset at his scars? That would be the strangest reaction yet. "Whats your name then?" He asked, folding his front paws casually against his grey-furred chest, the lean muscules of forelimbs and shoulder easily visable despite the thickening of the buck's winter coat that had started to grow in. He was certainly not the biggest rabbit around but he was tough and the idea of pity would probably have amused him to no end. His scars had been given to him in service of his Chief and while he wasn't proud of them he was proud of the reason behind them.

Oh, yes, she was most definitely a ways too far away from the warren. She knew she shouldn't of traveled so far off, especially at her tender, young age. She was growing very quickly, but was still an outskirter, after all...

Her marli would of birthed a homba, if she saw her little Rainfall mucking about amongst these bushes and brambles, but she was too eager, too adventures, too energetic, and too damned hungry!

She wandered cautiously, as she had seen older rabbits doing whenever venturing out of the runs, her little ears listening. That was when she caught voices. She inched nearer, eager to hear just what the other rabbits were speaking of. Repercussions were not on her mind as she nestled comfortably amongst the thick cover of nearby brush, her pale eyes settling on the young buck and the intimidating Owsla.
