Melinda couldn't help but stare at the building of Crystal Academy, finding it just alittle all overwhelming. How would she honestly survive it such a place as the Academy? Without her parents or her brother, then on top it having to hide things from the students? It was just going to be enough to break her, she was so very sure of it.
Shaking her head, she lifts her hand to brush at her blond braid. Her green eyes scanning over the schedule she was given, followed by the map. The first thing she had to do was figure out where her room was. Then she would worry about books and uniform.
Tugging at the bottom of her green shirt, she found herself glad she dress casual. Wearing a pair of hip hugger jeans, a green tank top, and simple sneakers. It was nice to wear she could move and not worry about falling out, or the wind blowing anything on her.
Bending at the knees, she picks up the large travel bag followed by the other small bag. Moving up the steps, she pauses as she pulls the door open. Glancing around, she looks down at the map once more.
"Now, where do I go to find these so called dorm rooms?"

So, she was going to finally get a roommate! Kore was mildly excited about this prospect, as it tended to be rather lonely at the new school. It'd only been a week, not nearly enough time to make lifelong friends with anyone. Reanna was ok, but they didn't really share much in common past a generally blunt outlook. A roommate almost always forged companionship with oneself! It was also heavily romanticized.
Pulling out the slim phone in her pocket, Kore checked the email one more time for a name before making sure her buns were tied properly before heading down the stairs. Giving a bad physical first impression was the worst thing you could do! It was bad enough that the school uniforms were the most washed-out boring uniform you could HAVE, but they didn't even allow you to accessorize properly! Kore rectified this outside of class as often as possible, with no fewer than three necklaces of variegated color, and at least eight heavy plastic bangles on each arm. She'd already learned to be careful, and white armwarmers were in place to yank down over each arm at a moment's notice. It was all very clever, and very Kore.
As she reached the front of the main school building, the door opened, and a casually-dressed blonde staring at a map became the landscape. Brushing at her skirt one more time, Kore put on her best smile and stepped forward. "Melinda? Melinda Reese?" Her accent wasn't perfect, and the name came out somewhat elongated into 'Meh-leen-dah'. "I am Kore Papadakis, your new roommate."

She wasn't sure if it was her name, but Melinda knew someone called out to her. Glancing up, she blinks as the other girl came into view. She couldn't describe her in any other way, other then vibrant. Setting her bags down, Melinda smiles as she holds her hand out towards her "Hi Kore, its a pleasure to meet you. And you can call me Mel or Lin."
She was clearly glad that Kore had found her. She wasn't sure she would have been able to find her dorm room by herself, without going into an area she wasn't suppose to, or just getting lost all together.

Taking the hand offered, Kore smiled as brightly as she could, taking in the other girl in a quick, assessing glance. Not much for fashion, but that could be fixed! But it wasn't horrible, and it wasn't ultra-conservative like some of the Academy's students seemed to favor. Kore had been told, to her horror, that some girls actually thought these uniforms were fashionable!
"Nice to meet you! If you follow me, we can get things put away before dinner and then maybe a tour?" Hesitating a moment, Kore looked at the bags Melinda hefted. "Do you maybe want me to carry one of those? I can handle one." She certainly didn't have much, but that wasn't unheard of. Some people just didn't have a whole lot important to them.
"I think a tour is sorta foreign here, I wandered around for a few hours before someone ran into me and was nice enough to show me around. I figured it'd be a nice thing to do, right?" That would make her look very good in the eyes of the faculty, and that was always very important. Then they'd be willing to overlook a few fashionable changes!

Melinda was happy to see that Kore was friendly, it meant that they would get along real well. Glancing down at her bags, she nods alittle "Putting these in our room would be great, then a tour would be even better. I was fearing I would have to figure this place out myself." picking up her backpack, she holds it towards Kore.
"This is the lightest of the bunch, so if you want to carry that one. I'll get these two." reaching down, she grabs the bigger bag by its handle before she shakes her hair from her face "So your new here also? What brought you to Crystal Academy?"

"Not to worry! I am not very familiar with the entire place, but I know where most of the buildings are, especially the important ones." Bending to scoop up the smaller bag, she scowled just a bit. "Especially we will have to get you fitted for a uniform. They're very particular about that part, which is silly. We're privileged, no need to treat us like cattle." Sighing spectacularly, Kore smiled again. "But that's my personal opinion. You might actually think they're cute, I know a lot of girls do."
Shaking her head, pigtails and buns shaking, she laughed. "But I'm definitely not most girls. Blathering on like an idiot. We will definitely get that tour going." Winding their way through the campus, at the very back of their floor was the gaily decorated sign declaring that this room belonged to Kore Papadakis. "Also, you can make a sign for the door!" With a flourish, she opened the door into the moderately-sized dorm room, brightly decorated on one side, and strewn with clothing. Proudly, Kore set the bag down on the plainer of the two beds, and stopped to admire her handiwork.
"I started to decorate this side, but when they said I was getting a roommate, I took it all down. I figured you'd want to do your own thing?"

Setting the other two bags she had down, Melinda glances around the room. Her eyes stopping on Kore's side of the room, finding it completely different to what she normally did to her room back home. Although it was simple, it too had alot of color. The more she learns about Kore, the more she found she likes about her new roommate.
Moving her backpack to the side of the bed, she kneels down to unzip the bigger bag. Pushing the cover open, she looks down at her clothes. Her shirts were every color known, expect for pink. All vibrant, but simple to not draw that much attention to her.
"I like what you have done to your side. Bright and colorful, just like you from what I am gathering?" turning to face Kore, she sits on her knees for a brief moment "I might have to ask you to help with my side. Although I am bright myself, I'm not as creative as you are." lifting her hand to brush her hair from her face, she finds herself chuckling.
Standing, she brushes her jeans off as she pops open her other bag on the bed. Pulling her flute case out of the bag, she lays it on the bed "I hope you don't mind, but I practice the flute almost everyday for about an hour."
Inside the other bag, beside her flute case were essential health care products.

Kore's estimation of her new roommate rose as the bag revealed a vibrant selection of various shirts and other clothing elements. Certainly this girl wasn't covering herself in haute couture, but she wasn't a total loss! The Greek girl probably would have been utterly miserable, had she been forced to room with a girl who was essentially a fashion lump. It would have been beyond bearing! Thankfully, it seemed that Melinda had a base to start with that was substantial. This would work well!
"I'd be glad to help you! Decoration, fashion, anything that involves style, just see me. I feel lost without many colors and designs around me, boarding school is not exactly the most fun." She shrugged carelessly. "Not much to be done about that though." Curiously, her olive-toned fingers skimmed over the dark case. "I promise I will only mind it if you are a bad player." The smile was wide and teasing, but it was an honest statement nonetheless.
Taking a moment to pause in front of her vanity mirror, Kore straightened the ribbons holding her buns in place before straightening. "Well, would you like to unpack some, or move on? I have little to do this evening, so it is truly up to you."

Melinda actually finds herself chuckling for a moment "I might just ask you for help then. I know fashion, but not to your knowledge." glancing back down at her flute case, she shakes her head "I don't think I am bad, least I hope not after a few years of playing." she found the more she spoke with Kore, the more she found that being roommates would be rather fun.
Wiping her hands on her jeans, she shakes her head "I think we are good here. I can unpack later. So I guess we can start the tour?" running her hand quickly through her hair, she pauses behind Kore as she makes sure she didn't look like a total wreck.

Pushing the armwarmers back up her arms, revealing her riot of colorful accessories, Kore smiled before holding the door politely for her new friend to exit. "We'll start with the important areas in and around the dorms." As they walked, she couldn't help but interrogate just a little bit, to find out more about this newest student. "May I ask where you are from? I am Greek myself, but I know there are many girls from Destiny City itself, or other countries." The walk wasn't long, but she hesitated at the bottom of a long corridor for an answer.

Gazing at the colorful array of bracelets, Melinda couldn't help by smile. It was nice to find someone who was this bright, it made her feel happy for even a moment after all these years.
Glancing around as they walk, she looks back towards Kore for a moment. Linking her hands behind her head doe a moment, she chuckles "I'm from England, just outside of Oxford. A small city called Cirencester. Its no where as nice as London, or even Oxford. But its still beautiful."

Intrigued, Kore all but leapt upon the subject of a new and foreign country. "England? I've always wanted to go to London, but it was not really possible. Not proper either, good Greek girls don't really need to travel." It was exactly what it sounded like, a mantra drilled into her head by an older family matriarch.
Hands gripped the elegant door handles, and she pulled them open to reveal a room with a projection television and several rows of theater-style seats. "This is, obviously, the theater. It's usually first-come, first-served, but sometimes they do schedule things. Most of the girls have larger tvs in their rooms, so they put this here instead." This was obviously something Kore thought was very important.
"Across the hall is the study lounge." She breezed into that room, littered with long tables and plush chairs, every table equipped with internet connectors and places to plug in laptops. "You can come down here for quiet, in case you don't want to be in your room or you have a large group." Almost as important. Not quite though.
"Really, it's all quite comfortable. It seems the tuition is put to good use at this school."

With a chuckle, Melinda nods alittle as she place her hands behind her head "Seems we have something in common, I wasn't allowed to travel either. The only reason my parents even allowed me to study abroad was because I needed a change." sighing, the thoughts of her brother brushed her mind, only to be pushed back as she spies the Theater.
It was amazing to say the very least, nothing she was really use to. The place she rather liked though was the next room Kore showed her. Even though she wasn't a huge find of school work. She was a fan of finding a place to be alone. More so when she could get away and think, or just play her flute.
"I'm starting to see why it cost quite a bit to get into this school." dropping her hands down, she smiles as she looks to Kore for a moment "So what classes do they have here? I saw stables as I was coming in." she was hoping maybe they had lessons here, as she wouldn't mind learning how to ride a horse.
