Oh, don't mind me...

Hello everyone! I'm kinda new here to Loli Dollies, and I was wonder if I might ask a reeeeally simple question...

If I go to make my own Petticoat, does it HAVE to have netting?

I've never much liked netting--too itchy and it's kinda boring to look at...

I wanted to sew my own, because i'm kind of an odd size, and I don't like what most people make theirs out of--so here's my main 2nd question:

If I were to make a petticoat out of normal cotton, or any other material, would it work just as well?

I'm going to end up giving it a try pretty soon here anyway. I'm hoping to drop by Joann's to pick up some material...

^_^ Any response is appreciated!

...I'm just passing through.

Regular cotton is a bit too soft and pliable to really work out well for a super fluffy petticoat unless you are willing to do a LOT of gathering. It work nicely for lighter underskirts, however.

I recommend soft tulle or decorative netting [you can get tulle with fuzzy little dots on it, as an example] for fluff. You can also use materials like organdy. The material doesn't need to be stiff, but it does need a lot of body. Using netting or tulle is the easiest way, since you can always wear bloomers or add a lining to prevent any itchiness.
