She peered at herself in the river, she blinked a few times before she blew at the tuff of ivory fur that fell into her orange orbs, her nose twitched as she shook her head and lapped at the cool liquid instead.
Having quinched her thirst, she sat down, and looked around. It was seemingly quiet, a bit boring but nice from the fast pace of the savannah. She wiggled her ivory toes before she stretched out, letting her paws skim over the rivers surface, she listened to the sounds of the jungle, soon the sun would be rising, and she'd still be protected from the heat filled rays in the shadowed jungle.
Azuban Janan smiled faintly to herself, free to relax a bit, her tail flickered up and down at her orbs danced around, watching critters wake in the early morning.
The Simbafutaji, although primarily lion, was an open minded group accepting all species. Kobe was familiar with the many animals he shared the savannah with, though had never met some until his seeking. On his seeking he came across various new friends, cheetahs and valuable information to return to his pride. He was beginning to feel accomplished, but it didn't seem good enough. He had found something to bring back, but it wasn't his something.
It was surprising to him how much his outlook had changed. He was originally fearful of not finding anything, but now he saw everything as something valuable. The site of a new insect, the mannerisms of a different pride. It was all information someone could benefit from. He was wide eyed and eager to stumble across anything. Across his chest hung a small, makeshift bag with various items he had collected along the way.
When Maha mentioned returning to the pride, he quickly redirected the conversation. He wasn't ready to head back now. Would he ever have another opportunity like this again? Now was his chance to go everywhere his heart desired! Remembering stories of his parent's courtship, Kobe decided to check out the jungles and see for himself, the frogs his mother had described.

The sound of anothers movement, didnt quiet hit home with Azu quiet yet, her mind wandering after the family of waterbucks she'd just watched get their morning drinks before heading off quickly, she was quiet amused by their reaction to her presence.
With a yawn, pearly ivories flashed out as she shook her head, her mulitcolored tuff of fur shaking before falling back over her eyes as she let her toes dance over the waters surface, her tail swaying behind her as if to some unheard beat.
Kobe had been given directions by other wandering rogues as to the whereabouts of the nearest jungle. Some directions were more accurate than others and he got lost many times along the way, but he saw them as adventures that could possibly be more rewarding than his original one. He knew the Gods could work in mysterious ways and he imagined each detour was one of them trying to direct him to something in particular. Kobe was no longer frustrated by mishaps and had regained the optimistic outlook he had as a cub.
Approaching the terrain that he imagined was what his mother had explained as a jungle, he paused. He was almost disappointed to have already found it. It seemed his real adventure was the path he had travelled. Breathing in, he noticed that the air was humid here, like the coast of the beach. He felt a pang of homesickness and then shook it away as he stepped forward, eager for whatever it was to face him.
Now the sound of another caught her attention, she sat up quickly, head twisting around like an owl's this way and that as she looked to see the owner of said sounds.
Azu had been on her own most of her life, her mother had traded her to another rouge for the rouges kill, and said rogue had just left her at a watering hole one day, so another didnt always sit well with her. She was friendly, a bit skittish but she had made many friends in her lifetime and that, was one of her proudest treasures.
Dual colored ears twitched this way and that as she listened for whomever it was to finally come into her line of sight.
Kobe continued through the jungle, enjoying the familiar heat that reminded him of home. He noticed that the farther he went into the foliage, however, the worse it became. Without the cool ocean breeze, his fur became heavy with moisture and it matted onto his form. His thick mane was no exception. Lifting a paw to wipe it away from his face, Kobe grunted, "Whoever decided males get all this extra fur was crazy!"
Up ahead, Kobe noticed a clearing and large pool of water. He quickened his pace, eager to test it out and cool off his body. "I wonder if this water is as warm at ours back ho-" Kobe suddenly paused where he was, surprised to see a gorgeous lioness laying quietly beside the shore. He felt his cheeks flush as though he just imposed on someone without warning. Letting out a nervous laugh, Kobe was suddenly aware of how foolish he must have sounded talking to himself. She probably thinks i'm crazy, he thought.
It didn't take long for Kobe to suddenly realize that this was an opportunity for him to learn about lions who lived in the jungle. They were certain to be different than those he was familiar with. "Oh. Hey! Do you live here?" He suddenly called out, making himself known and approaching slowly.

Finally he came into her sight, she didnt feel threatened by him in the slightest, it seems the humidity was not his friend, she frowned slightly feeling bad. She had felt like a hundred pounds had been added to her when she had first ventured into the jungle, but one grew used to it over time.
Her ears perked as she watched him stop dead in his tracks and stare for a moment, she turned and looked around, to see if there was some two headed prey beast behind her or something, she looked back at him and arched a brow at him before she figured he was staring at her, she must have sprouted a double head or something.
She rose to her paws, and looked herself over. Then he asked her if she lived here, she shook her head. "I do not, though I do use it for safety from time, to time." She said simply.
Kobe nodded his head when the female answered his question. He was bummed to hear she didn't come from the jungle, but agreed that it probably would do as a shelter. "Yea, I suppose there are lots of great hiding places here," He thought out loud. "Especially compared to the open savannah where the grass isn't tall enough to reach your shoulder." Looking about curiously, he mentally noted the differences between the jungle terrain, opposed to the ocean side.
Once he got a good look around, he returned his gaze to his company and lowered his ears awkwardly. "Oh! Sorry about that. My name is Kobe," He quickly added a dipped head to be polite. "I am a seeker of Simbafutaji. Our pride likes to gather information so I was hoping you might know something interesting....not to say you don't! I suppose I just didn't ask the right question." Kobe let out a nervous laugh and looked around. "I suppose i'm rambling..."
"And, the larger the creature chasing you, the harder it is for them to get through the deeper into the jungle you go." She nodded in agreement, she didnt think she needed to mention, that it helped those of darker colors hide out better.
"No need to be sorry Kobe, I am Azu." She bowed her head, she rarely gave out her full name to strangers, it was another treasure of hers, it she felt close enough to another, she'd share her full name. "No, I dont think your rambling. Sounds quiet interesting really, though Im not sure I've any useful information for you to take back." She mused for a moment.
"If you take a dip in the river, the humidity wont be as bad." She mused a bit stepping back from where she stood.
Kobe smirked at her response. He was glad he hadn't frightened her off with his sudden outburst of questions. From what he knew of her already she seemed like a pretty nice lioness. Glancing over towards the water and then back at her he grinned. "Care to join me?" He stepped down towards the shore, easing into the water. His tail waved playfully behind him as he eyed Azu. The water was cool and felt nice on his heated form.
Once he was up to his shoulders, he dipped his head under and then popped back up for air. It was his first time swimming in deep water since his mane had fully grown in. He laughed as it hung down in front of his face foolishly. Wading the water in the hopes that Azu would follow, Kobe paid special mind to the water's edge and what creatures swam inside. "This water is so different... My family lives by an ocean with sand and bright colored fishes."
