(being roleplayed as an adult) How long had she been alone? Ilaria wondered as she paced back and forth under the cover of a tree. It was nearing midnight but again she couldn't sleep. Her dreams were filled with some being, someone that wanted to stay with her always but every time she was about to see him she'd wake or something would make the dream disappear. Growling in frustration, Ilaria vowed to never fall asleep again... which hadn't worked yet. She had just woken up from the aggravating situation again. Why couldn't she see his face?

Mwenye made his way through the tall, dry grass of the savannah with only one thought occupying his mind, where was everyone? It had been a long time since he'd encountered another lion. Ever since he'd left his family and set out on his own to make his way in the world he had been alone. To make it all worse, he was plagued with vision of a lioness, a gorgeous one at that, who seemed to be beckoning him but just before he reached her she would dissapear, the same visions that had caused him to set out on this cursed journey in the first place.
It was nearing midnight again and he was beginning to feel tired, he had been on the move most of the day and he hadn't made a successful kill in almost a week. His energy was waning fast and he began to look for a place where he could rest, and perhaps wait for an unsuspecting victim that would provide him with his next nourishing meal.
Ahead of him he saw the outline of a tree and as he got closer he heard the rustling of dry grass. He prepared himself for the hunt, expecting a gazelle to be the source of the noise. Crouched down low he crept forward, his fangs glistened in the pale moonlight, and he stopped a few feet from his prey, still unable to see or scent what was causing the rustling. After a moment he pounced, and swiped an outstretched paw at his target, hoping to knock it over so it wouldn't be able to flee.

Ilaria was so fixed on her pacing and the aggravation of not knowing the mysterious lion that she never heard the lion approach. She was just turning away from his position and had taken a few steps when he lunged out of hiding at swatted at her. With a shriek she was pinned to the ground by his massive paw.
It took her a few moments to recollect her wits and when she realized she was pinned by a lion she growled and clawed at him, trying to use her back feet to push him off. "Oy! Get off!" She growled up at him, her eyes sparking with anger.

Feeling his paw connect with his target Mwenye grinned wide but his expression changed quickly as claws raked his forelegs and his belly was kicked numerous times by his prey. Looking down he realized his prey wasn't food at all, but a lioness, quickly he jumped back, letting her up and as he stared at her, he couldn't believe it, it was her, the lioness in his visions. Was he asleep?
"Sorry, thought you were something else." he said, his deep voice seemed to echo through the quiet grassland and he continued to stare at her, looking almost as if he had seen a ghost.

Growling until he got off her, Ilaria sprung up when the weight was gone. She hadn't taken a good look of him yet, but as she spun to face him head on, a growl in her throat and words about to come through clenched teeth, she went dumb. Her jaw actually slacked open and she stared in disbelief. Was she still dreaming. "You..." She whispered
Shaking her head she growled and refocused. Whether this was the lion she dreamt about or not, He had attacked her!! "You!" She snapped, glaring again. "You attacked me! I'm not some morsel for your appetite!" She said with a tight tone.
The only problem about this situation was that instead of the lion of her dreams scooping her up and whisking her away... he had pounced her. So much for fantasies...

Mwenye growled angrily as the lioness snarled and glared at him. "Look lady, I already apologized, I told you, I thought you were a gazelle, you were downwind from me how was I supposed to know you were a lion if I couldn't see or smell you?" he narrowed his eyes at her, glaring angrily before he circled around to the side, intent on heading off on his way, so much for sleeping, he'd just have to find someplace else to take a nap.
As he walked his mind was whirring a million miles a minute, all of his visions coming back to him, and he heard a voice in his mind saying "Why are you walking away from her? You're supposed to stay with her idiot!" this just caused him to growl angrily "I don't need to stay with anyone, for any reason!" he said, though he knew it was not normal for him to be talking aloud to himself.

What shocked Ilaria more then the fact that the lion of her dreams had finally made himself visable... he was walking away from her! How dare he! So with a quick decision Ilaria hurried after him. What else was she going to do? Sleep? If she slept now she'd be plauged with dreams of her prince running away from her! That's not a happy ending in anyone's story.
Coming up beside him, she shot him a look from the corner of her eye before looking forward. "If you pounced me because you were hungry, why not ask for a morsel instead of stalking off? Just in case you didn't know... The lioness normally catches the food." The male is too clutzy. She metally added.
Her tail flicked behind her, her ears twitching as she caught little noises. Certainly there was a little something around here for him to eat...

Mwenye growled mentally as he head the rustling of grass and paw steps following him. Why couldn't she just leave him alone? She had seemed so content to bite his head off, why couldn't she just leave it at that?
"Why are you following me, can't you just accept the apology and leave me alone?" his deep baritone voice rumbled through the surrounding area again as he spoke and he glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. "I do not need anyone's help. I've survived this long on my own. I've just had a stroke of bad luck recently. It will end soon and I'll go back to being well fed just as I have always been." he explained though he couldn't figure out why he felt compelled to do so.

Ilaria rolled her eyes. "First of all 'Bad Luck' doesn't happen. If you weren't such a man you'd be able to admit you havn't be able to successfully kill anything lately." She stopped and looked him over. He was definately more delicious in person.
"I'll catch you a little something, enough to keep you from dying which I know you are because even the slowest lions would have known that I was not a gazelle. You're driven by hunger. I suppose I should be happy you didn't kill me because I know you're capable of that." Deciding she should at elast give him some kind of feed back on his male-ness.
"So how about that? I catch you some food and you can be on your merry way and attack a different lioness when you're hungry again?" She smirked, but still she hadn't moved. If he was anything like the lion in her dreams he wouldn't pass that up. Sure there might be some heated words but she hope din the end he'd agree.

Mwenye rounded on the lioness, a heated anger flaring in his eyes, "I have killed many things lately, lioness, and you're lucky you aren't one of them! Do not tempt me to rethink my decision to let you live." he roared and snarled at her, his temper flaring. How dare she think he was unable to kill something? Then her next words sank in and he looked at her quizzically. Why would she want to help him? What was she up too?
"Right, I'm supposed to let you catch me something to eat and then you'll just let me be on my way? What are you playing at? What's your motive?" he asked, his eyes revealing that he did not trust her. "...and I am very intelligent, you would do well to remember not to insult me again." he added after deciding he couldn't let her get away with her insults any longer.

There was no way in hell Ilaria was going to tell him she had been dreaming of him for... geez, how long HAD she been dreaming about him? Either way she wouldn't tell him the real story. "It got you to stop didn't it?" She said, referring to the insults. "I didn't want you to leave and you are all for disappearing like the stars when the sun comes up." She said this in a softer voice, her gaze hard on his. She really didn't want him to leave.
"If you don't want something to eat then go ahead and go... but..." She paused then and looked down. "Would you at least tell me your name?" I've been dying to know... for so long... She tried her hardest not to shuffle her feet like some cub being scolded. looking back up to him there was some odd shine to her eyes...

Mwenye gazed at the lioness, catching all the unfamiliar vibes coming from her almost as well as if he could actually see them. How odd, what the heck was she so worried about? He narrowed his eyes as he studied her expression and he caught every movement she made. "I guess it did, but you'd do well to find a better method next time." he grumbled as he continued his analysis of her actions.
"My name? Mwenye, not that it matters, no one likes to remain in my company for long." he said before turning away, he had caught the sound of rustling grass once again and this time he knew it wasn't her so he crouched low and stalked forward. He would show her that he didn't need any help, that he could provide for himself, and her too for that matter. Wait... what was he thinking about her for? There was no way he was going to just let her in like that and allow her to become his friend or... even more, just because she was in his dreams didn't mean a thing.

"Mwenye..." She repeated softer, in a dreamy tone. Her eyes had shone in a far-distanced look but she quickly changed it before he noticed anything. What else would her prince be named?
It was the rustling in the bush that finally distracted her from her thoughts and she was about to pounce, but seeing Mwenye positioned she smirked, if he could do it she'd have to apologize, but if he didn't... or the bragging rights would be delicious! Her heartbeat was rising... just like it always did whens he was about to give chase, the only thign was, she wasn't chasing an appetizer, she was chasing the man of her dreams.

Mwenye stalked through the grass and peered through it, he could just make out the moving shape of a zebra on the other side of the grass. How convenient, now he could prove that he could support them both. Where were those thoughts coming from anyway? He mentally scolded himself, focusing back on the task at hand.
He continued to creep forward, silently and then when he was close enough he darted towards his prey, swiping one of his huge paws forward he brought it down to the ground and then he was on top of the creature, pinning it to the ground as his mouth clamped over it's nose, suffocating the prey that had never stood a chance.
Once the last breath and heartbeat had been heard he rose to his full height, looking over at the lioness with a smirk. "I told you, I am more than capable of fending for myself. Now come eat." he commanded, his voice hinting that there would be punishment should she refuse.

Ilaria watched with great joy to seen her dream-come-to-life stalk a zebra. When he pounced it looked like nothing she had seen before. She had been totally wrong about him and hunting, he was one of the most magnificient beings she had ever seen walk this earth. His command sent shivers through her, she wasn't frightened, instead she felt her insides twist with a strange desire.
She sat long enough to make him think she may not join him, but then she raised to her feet and padded over silently. She looked at him, a spark lit her eyes. "As far as I have seen, you are quite clever as well as powerful, why wouldn't someone stay in your company?" She said with a purr in her tone.
Patiently she sat, she wasn't about to take the first bite from his prey, she wouldn't admit it but she had been growing hungry herself. His need was far greater than hers.
