Panshee gazed around the clearing, alert for any danger. Due to his dark, patterned coat, he stood out in the short, dry grasslands. This was his home though and he preferred these lands over the ones crowded with forests. This allowed his a better view of his surroundings so he would know if a predator or another horse would be anywhere nearby. Satisfied with his observations, Pan lowered his head to graze in the warming sunlight.

Maria was taking a stroll through the valley. It was nice out plus her mother never seemed to pay attention to her anymore, but then again she never really did. The red mare eventually spotted a grey stallion with black markings. She cocked her head to the side wondering who he was before heading over to him. "Excuse me, but do you know of a mare named Selena? You have similar markings to her."

Hearing something drawing closer to him, Panshee raised his head to meet a mare's curious gaze. "I'm afraid I've never met her. Are you looking for her?" He replied politely to her. Flicking his ears, Pan listened for any other sounds that may signal other horses with the mare. None came to him, so he relaxed slightly.

Maria shook her head. "Oh no...I was just wondering out of sheer curiosity. That's about all. She is a grey mare with black markings." She paused for a moment. "Although she has a magenta mane."

Panshee smiled at the mare, she seemed to be a kind female. "I'm Panshee, although I also go by Pan." He dipped his head, his mane covering his green eyes for a moment. "May I know your name?" He asked, once he'd raised his head.

Maria lightly nodded her head. "I'm Maria and it's nice to meet you Panshee. Would you rather me call you Panshee or Pan?" She lightly smiled content to be around another horse.

"You may call me by either name," He smiled kindly to the mare. A light breeze stirred, causing the grass to wave and brush against both horses' legs. His gaze raking the clearing, Panshee made sure that there was no sign of danger nearby. Relaxing a little once again, Pan looked over at Maria. "What brings you to this meadow? Not many come here due to the dangers."

Maria smiled. "Alright...then I'll just call you Pan." She blinked a bit surprised. "Dangers? What types?" She sighed. "I don't know...just curiosity. My mother already is scared of me since she never wanted to have kids. Unfortunately I dropped by."

"Predators and unfriendly humans mainly," Panshee flicked his ear. If she didn't know the dangers of this area, then what could've happened to her had she not stopped by to talk to him? Shaking it off he focused his attention on her last comment. "You shouldn't feel guilty for your mother's actions." He spoke seriously, angered at the mare for rejecting her own child.

Maria bit her lip. "Well you see...she was living her life then a random male comes in, gets her pregnant, then leaves." She shook her mane. "I can sort of see things through her perspective since I would feel the same way."

"I guess since I'm a stallion, I can't understand that perspective." Panshee sighed. He still felt the two parent horses responsible for their actions and the problems with their children. Still, he wouldn't press the matter any further. "Have you been to the hills?" Pan asked. It was a lovely sight, the sun hitting the whole area giving it such a wonderful glow. Being able to see all of the lands and creatures, from the highest point. You could even see part of the lake, glittering whether beneath the sun or the moon.

Maria shook her head. "I guess not, but it's alright...I don't expect it out of others." She blinked a bit. "The hills? What are they like? Are they beautiful?"

"They are wonderous. Would you care to join me?" Panshee perked up a bit. This would help lighten the mood and he'd always wanted to share it with others. "I usually go around sundown, but it takes a bit to get there." He noted, thinking about the sun's position. They'd make it right before sundown if they didn't run into any problems.

"Roughly northeast, according to the sun right now." Panshee noted, nodding at his calculation. He knew the path by heart, from other areas as well. He loved to explore the "dangerous lands" that no other hardly came. With a flick of his tail, the stallion turned before leading the way to his favorite locale.
