In a small, but spacey den near conveniently located by a pond, an usdia mare lived. She laid down on the compact soil of her cozy den, her brows furrowing together. Everything that had happened to her, she chose to... push it behind her. Her ears flicked back knowing that no matter what, there would always be sadness in her heart. There would always be the insecurity that she wasn't good enough, or she wasn't worth the time. The mare tried to get better, after seeing Ranulf that one time, convincing herself that she was on a road to self-destruction if she continued to dwell on... She stopped her trail of thought, her eyes nearly glazing over from it.
Feeling a rumbling in her stomach, she knew she should eat or at least attempt to. She still was probably still seemed underweight to anyone, but it was a considerably much better than when she was depressed. She ate enough, but not enough to give her back her "healthy" weight. She at least looked well-put together, getting groomed again by a familiar human...
The mare stood up on her hooves and made her way to the mouth of her den. Her eyes flickered side to side, searching for any danger before slipping away from her home. She nudged a bush to hide her den from the outside before heading out to a nice grazing spot closeby.

As she made her way to a grazing spot, she had a feeling someone was following her for some reason. She tensed up visibly, wondering maybe it was a bad time to wander out of her den or not. Hearing her name being shouted out, she wondered who that could have been. She didn't know that many, or at least, know that many to be... excited to see her except.. Her eyes widened. '... R-ranulf?!'
As she turned around, she looked behind her to see Ranulf. It was a good sense of relief to see it was a familiar face, rather than, a complete stranger... or someone she probably would have not liked to see.. The mare looked to Ranulf with a watery, nervous smile. ".. H-hi." She said a bit soft-spokenly, her eyes searching for any differences in her childhood friend. She blinked, a confused look in her eyes as she watched him bow, but chose not to comment it. "W-what brings you here...?" She asked in the same tone before, tearing her gaze away keeping her gaze on the ground.

Ranulf looked sadly up at pocket, his head still held low. "No mommy, no daddy, Brother, sister - Only Ranulf?" No wonder she was how she was. To be alone, completely and utterly for so much time; he wondered now how she managed to make it this long.
His gaze dropped again and he sat down as he contemplated deeper into the thought. How much did that say about him? If he were to leave his best friend, only friend, alone for so long without a visit, then how good of a friend was he really? His brain seemed to stop at that point, the question echoing in his mind. He honestly could not say he had been a good friend, or even a decent one, and that thought the simple idea that all this time he had been doing Pocket wrong broke something inside him. He starred intently at the ground, his eyes unable to focus on a single blade of grass. "No one?" He finally whispered.

Pocket Lint shook her head. "N-no momma, no daddy, no brother or sister." She said softly, her eyes lowering to the ground. She wondered if they still considered her family. Maybe she should go look for them... She hadn't really tried, but didn't they know where she lived? Maybe they moved away without telling her. She couldn't really know.
Maybe her loneliness was her fault. She didn't seek out anyone to socialize with. She didn't try to reconnect with old friends. She just stayed hidden in her hole, sulking over her broken soul. But, isn't that normal? She sighed, not really wanting to think about it. Her stomach let out a growl, telling her she was hungry. She nearly jumped at the sound, remembering a memory from when she was a young filly and feared her own stomach. That brought a tiny smile to her face before, looking back to Ranulf. "No one." She said clearly, without her normal stutter. "But, you." She said before getting up to find something to eat.

The growl of Pocket's stomach made Ranulf wince a bit in fear, the only thing that brought his mind back from it's stroll down thinking how horrible of a friend he had been to Pocket. It reminded him of his fathers scars, and his stories. It also reminded him that Pocket had been heading out to graze when he had interrupted her. He didnt look up as she spoke, didnt see the smile.
But he heard her.
Steady speech; something that he had rarely heard from her. It was pleasant to hear, made him happy in a way. The corners of his lips turned up slightly for a moment before he heard her hoof falls. She was going to find something to eat. Should he follow? He didn't know. He was still beating himself up over what he had done (or not done), he didn't think he could look her in the face without telling her sorry again, and yet he felt as though he shouldn't leave her alone. Slowly, silently, he got to his hooves, stepping forward timidly to follow her to find something to eat. He too was hungry. "What Pocket want to eat?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
