Khamsyn arrived at the Arena a little earlier than agreed. He'd changed his clothes from his normal attire to something that offered a little more mobility and had less of a chance of getting ruined. His slipper-shoes were replaced by ankle high leather boots of a tawny sand color, his normal poofy silken pants with hardy linen and his silk shirt with a simple vest of durable brocade. His cape was left back at his room. As he waited for Belwen to arrive, he paced out the grassy area chosen to train upon. He knew she was keen on dueling him, but also that she'd only learned a few basics from Phys Ed thus far, so it was suggested she find a book from the library to learn a few noew moves from and he'd act as her training partner. After that, then they could spar and hopefully have a good time. It wasn't about winning or losing. It never was for Khamsyn. It was about exercise and self-improvement. Plus, wrestling around with a beautiful Phelgmatic girl upon whom he had a huge crush, was pretty cool too.

Belwen arrived in the arena the two books wrapped up in her arms, instead of one of her dresses she was wearing a pink and white jogging outfit. The pink was almost the exact shade of her hair and she felt it brought out her eyes nicely, under her jogging jacket she wore a simple white tank top, and her shoes were practical though somewhat fashionable running shoes. A white bandanna with pink and silver accents was wrapped around her hair, that and a few pins kept her long curly hair up off her shoulders and out of the way. Spotting Khamsyn across the way she smiled brightly and waved heading toward him.
"Hello, thanks again for helping me with this," she paused a few feet from Khamsyn watching him a moment before offering over the books she was carrying, "I picked out those two from the library, I thought the one with diagrams might be helpful for working on these moves." As she talked Belwen pulled the jogging jacket off leaving her in the white tank top and jogging pants, "so do you have a good idea where to start?"

Khamsyn smiled aas Belwen approached. He'd only really seen her in a dress or pajamas before, but the jogging outfit suited her just a well. She looked very cute, as usual. "It's not a problem. I'm just glad I can be of assistance. I think it's good for everyone to get out here and learn a few things, test their skills, get some exercise." He flexed his hands and stretched out his legs a bit as they talked, and she showed him the two books she borrowed from the library. Both were really good for beginners from what he knew, so this should be pretty easy. "Flip through that first book there and find a few moves you want to learn. Then we can take them one at a time and practice them. I'd recomment a good mix of offensive, defensive and augmenting maneuvers. It'll make you more versatile overall." He continued to stretch, almost falling over when she removed her jacket, curious as to what she'd pick. If she chose something he already knew, he'd be able to help her learn it that much faster in theory.

She took a moment to look over the book, "well, I know the basics...so lets just move on to something a bit more complicated don't want to bite off more then I can chew," grins slightly looking over to Khamsyn and gives a slight wink before turning the book around so he can see it.
"I was thinking practicing throws and tumbling...the tumbling actually looks like a lot of fun. Might be fun to experiment some none dueling techniques with it," Belwen paused and stared at Khamsyn a long moment while what she said sunk in more before clearing her throat, "I mean it might be useful for gymnastics or dance."
Moving back and tilting her head slightly she looked to Khamsyn, "does that sound like a good starting spot for you?"

Khamsyn quirked an eyebrow at Belwen's comment about tumbling in a non-dueling aspect. He let his mind wander, perhaps a little too long, and missed her follow up about gymnastics. "Tumble is a good technique, and one I know personally as well. So it shouldn't be that difficult for you to learn. I learned it at the same time I learned Jump, just in case I screwed up badly in the air. As for Throw, I personally don't know it, but it is on my list to learn soon." He took a few steps off to the side of Belwen and waited for her to read the description of the principles behind Tumble, not to mention the diagrams of what to do. Reading it was one thing, pictures or not, but doing it was another. "When you're ready, we can try it. We'll start with a tumble from a standing position before trying it from any height. Sound like a plan?"

Smiling slightly Belwen looked over the book, "hmm, so if we start practicing throwing we can teach each other maybe..." glances up and nods at the suggestion. "Sounds good..." Moving back a few steps to give herself plenty of room Belwen rolled her shoulders and did a quick stretch of her legs.
"So...should I just try it. Or are you going to try and help me with the first tumble?" She lifted her brows looking to Khamsyn questioningly after all she had never done something like this before and wasn't really sure how the whole learning of it would go best.

Stroking his chin as he considered her question, Khamsyn let out a "hmmm". After a second or two recalling how he learned to Tumble by trial and error after reading a similar book, and how sore he was afterwards, he made a decision. "I think I'll help you for the first one at least. When I tried it, I landed on the back of my head and saw stars for a few minutes afterwards. It was not pleasant." He closed the distance between them so that he was right at her hip. He placed a hand on her back as he squared himself beside her. "I want you to throw yourself forward in as controlled a fashion as you can muster, tuck your chin to your chest and allow yourself to flip, roll and hopefully come to rest on your feet again after the tumble. I'll help you control the momentuum and protect the back of your neck as you do. Nod your head when you're ready. Okay?" He braced himself, hoping that he explained it alright. Having never been a teacher, he had to settle just for being a spotter and helping where he could by drawing on his own experiences.
((Go ahead and roll a 100 sided die with your next post and see how well you do. wink hehe))

Belwen shifted nervously taking a moment to imagine what she would be doing, she then took a moment to let in a slow breath and calm herself before nodding. Keeping in mind what he said she tucked her chin in before moving forward attempting to move her body forward into a flip using her hands to guide herself and hoping that she would end up on her feet.

Khamsyn moved one hand to the back of her neck, shielding it from impact as best he could as she flipped herself forward. With his other hand he made sure her momentuum was enough to follow through and not deviate from her path. "Good!" He praised as she tumbled for the first time.

Belwen slowly opened her eyes and looked around, glancing down at her feet she was surprised to see they were actually on the ground. Hearing Khamsyn's praise she let out a nervous laugh before looking over. "Well that could have gone much worse..." she reached and gave one of his hands a squeeze.
"So I should try that again without a spotter before we try jumping and tumbling?" She felt pretty good after it but was trying to keep herself from getting too comfortable in case things started to go badly.

Khamsyn nodded. "That was very good. Yes, I think you'll be okay to try it without my assistance this time. Actually, lets see you do it twice more without my aid. Tumble once and then turn and tumble back to where you started." He smiled and slid his hand from her shoulder, where it had ended up after her tumble, down her back lightly and off. His breath caught slightly as he grazed her bottom in the process, but he tried to cover it with a quick word of encouragement. "You can do this Bel. I'll keep an eye on your form from here."
((Two more die rolls. hehe.))

Nodding some she looked to where she would be tumbling to and where she would be tumbling back to. A slight grin came to her face sensing a touch of embarrassment but she didn't acknowledge it more then that.
"Alright, once this way and once that," she looked from one side to the other and then to Khamsyn, "I break myself you have to carry me to the nurse."
She then stepped over to the side and once again concentrated on what she would be doing before attempting a tumble hoping it was a bit more fluid this time. And then turning to do another quickly right after the other.

Khamsyn clapped and beamed as Belwen tumbled this way and that. She learned that a lot faster than he did. Which was a good thing. Though he didn't mind the thought of carrying her off and contemplated doing so when they were done. Just not necessarily to the nurses office. "Very nice! You're a natural!"

Grinning some Belwen spun toward Khamsyn after the last tumble, "I like this it's actually quite a bit of fun." The tumbling wasn't going so badly, but she knew they were just starting and the whole dropping and tumbling would probably go worse, "want to show me a jump? We could work on that so then we could work on jump and tumbling...throws later if we have time."
Now that they had gotten started she was warming up to the whole dueling thing and a touch of excitement came to her voice and actions. Reaching up Belwen adjusted a few pins in her hair making sure it didn't fall down.

Scooping up the book they had been refering to, Khamsyn quickly skimmed through and found the instructions on Jump. Handing the book, open, to Belwen he waited a moment for her to peruse it, then spoke. "Jump can be used offensively or defensively as you have read. It's a good move to add height and reach to your attacks, or just simply not be there to defend an opponents low attacks." Once more he moved over to stand beside her, settling into a fairly simple stance. "Widen your stance just a tad, put the weight more on our back foot, bend your knees slightly, push off with everything you have and just jump upward. It's pretty simple in concept, the trick os to be able to do it at a split seconds notice. Try it once, then we'll add to it."
