She was definitely up to no good.
That would probably have been the first assumption of many of the warren's older members.
Rainfall was a kindhearted young doe, but a bit of a troublemaker. She was like wildfire and could hardly resist the opportunity to eavesdrop on her elders or to play a few, simple, harmless pranks. Her long ears seemed to quiver with anticipation as she sneaked through the warren's long, twisting runs. She was listening for others, judging, trying to find something to keep herself entertained.
She had taken off again, ditching her marli in an attempt to escape her overly protective ways and to seek out some much wanted and needed fun. She was sure she smelled someone about her own age, even if she didn't exactly recognize the scent. She was eager to pounce this other youngster and those were her precise intentions as she hopped as quietly as she could down the run.

The pretty young outskirter sat up on her haunches, soft wide-eyed gaze staring down the tunnel before her as long, graceful ears flopped to lay along her back, their expression dejected. She was lost! Again! How had she managed to wander from the main run? She was possertive it was right, left left, right..
Lifting a paw she placed it against the rough wall of the tunnel, turning to look back over her shoulder at the path behind. Only then did she see the opening that had been obscured from view as she had passed it by the lump of root.
Oh no..
She had absolutely NO idea where she was.

When she was sure that she had not yet been noticed, Rainfall launched.
She sprung from her spot quickly and tagged the other outskirter with her small, white tipped paws. Simultaneously, a fit of the giggles left her little bosom, strong enough to make breathing through it slightly difficult.
"Got you!" She practically howled at the other rabbit she had found wandering the lesser used runs. She hoped that she or he would find the situation just as humorous. Or at least a tiny bit funny. She wasn't one to think ahead, and completely dismissed the thought that she might actually upset the other rabbit.
She plopped back on her haunches, letting out peels of kitten-ish laughter.

Certainly the last thing on Heather's mind was the posibility that she was being stalked, the sudden appearance of the youngster and the loud, boisterous noice that filled the previously still air sent the young unexpecting female flailing, a high-pitched squeek escaping her as she scrambled around in wild paniced circles only to finally trip over her own front feet and go sprawling on her back, ending up at the paws of the one whom had pounced her.
Covering her face with her own front limbs she waited for the end of the world, utterly certain she had stumbled into the Owsla burrow by mistake and was about to be sent on an early journey with the Black Rabbit. One second..... two seconds... three seconds... she appeared to still be breathing, and gradually the light, young laughter of the one standing over her pieced through her terror. Slowly, wide-open bronze-hued eyes peeked up from under folded front paws, staring from upside-down at the outskirter perched above her.

"Ooohooohooo, I got you good!"
Rainfall giggle with abundant mirth as she peered down at the terrified outskirter, almost completely oblivious to just how terrified the other had been at her sudden and loud appearance. It took a moment for her to realize that the other was cowering for quite a long time and a slight pang of regret swam through her, though it didn't last long.
"Hey, s'what ya doin' down here, huh? I ain't seen you before, I don't think I know your name! I'm Rainfall! Who're you?"
She leaned nearer to the darkly hued female and nudged her paw covered face with her nose in an attempt to cheer her up.

It was a kit like herself...
A great rush of air fled the young outskirter as she sagged back onto the earthen floor of the burrow, chest heaving as she recovered. Frithrah but she had been certain she was in trouble! Blinking slightly less panicked eyes up at the other she took a momet to register what the lighter-coloured youth was saying.
Wiggling her nose as she slowly let her forepaws drop to her chest, she blinked up once again. "Uh... Im Heather." Now that the fear had passed she felt rather silly, laying on her back with all four paws in the air.. Blushing she rolled over and rose to her feet, flopping down on her haunches with a sheepish and rather shy smile.
"Umm.. Im kind of.. well.. lost." She finally admitted with a faint little sigh, eyes dropping to study a very interesting bit of dirt between her paws.

"It's a big place, s'it's easy t'get lost." She replied, bobbing her head as she spoke in a matter of fact tone. She sat back, up on her haunches, as her inflated ego showed beneath her pelt.
"But I'm not lost. I pass through here all the time. I pass through everywhere. I betcha I got th' whole warren mem'rized, even the Owsla runs." It was definitely far from the truth, as she had yet to explore every run in the massive network of connecting tunnels, some as old as time itself, or so her Marli often told her.
And she, most definitely, couldn't of explored the Owsla runs and survived, at least without a few nips, but she hoped her confident air and the other outskirter's current shocked state, that her boasting wouldn't be challenged.
"Nice t'meet ya, Heather!"

Heather watched as the other puffed herself up, soft bronze eyes wide as Rainfall spoke. It never occured to her that the other might not be telling quite the truth and it was a soft little gasp of awe that escaped the dark chocolate female.
Shyly she gazed up at Rainfall. "You do..? That must have taken so much time." Awed and most certainly impressed the young outskirter smiled shyly. "It is nice to meet you too, Rainfall." Pausing she glanced back behind her, the way she had been travailing. ".. umm.. I have no idea where we are... could.. I maybe come with you?" Holding her breath she hoped the other would agree, if not she was sure she was doomed ot be lost forever.

It was that little soft gasp of awe that just added to the youngster's already overly inflated ego. She grinned broadly and a long ear twitched.
"I always sneaked 'way from my marli, even since I was itty-bitty," she bragged, because she certainly was an old doe, now, "and that's why I know it all. I like 't 'splore. I'm gonna be a great 'splorer for the warren, one day! You'll see."
She plopped down on all fours once more, after Heather's hesitant request, and touched noses with her gently, almost as a reassurance.
"Yeah, you c'n come w'me if you want. I ain't gonna leave you down 'ere all lost and stuff, that'd be dumb and mean of me. You just stick w'me and we'll get out 'o here."

Wide, round eyes watched the other youngster as Heather sat silently, mouth open in a little 'o' as the other explained just how she was so experienced in such matters. It made her wish she had been a bit braver, then maybe she would be getting about the warren as easy as Rainfall did.
Nodding her head vigerously the young doe was quick to agree with her new friend, for was there any other outcome for the experienced and brave outskirter before than to become the adventurer she wanted to be? Such a possibility for anything else didn't seem possible to the nieve young chocolate coloured girl. "I am certain you will. You know so much already." Smiling shyly, but a little less nervous now as she forgot to be so, Heather blushed at the touch but nodded, hopping alongside her new friend hopefully, rather intending to stick as close as possible to avoid becoming lost a second time.
"Th-thank you Rainfall.... I don't know how long Id be down here otherwise... " Ducking her head shyly she nevertheless smiled at the other.

If Heather knew just how much Rainfall was bluffing, she probably wouldn't of been so quick to want to tag along. Rainfall bluffed often and was, though good hearted, rather hardheaded and independent. Even if she was lost, she would deny it fervently and continue to press on until something looked or smelled familiar.
The bold outskirter motioned with a flick of her head for Heather to follow. It was dark, but her eyes could just make out the other's form.
"Aw, shucks, don't worry 'bout it. Hey, y'wanna play a game after we get back, we c'd play Outskirter and Homba or somethin' else that's fun?" She offered as she plodded cheerily down the run.

The young outskirter was just happy to have someone show her the way out, and fell in just a wee bit behind the lighter rabbit, hopping along carfully, one ear cocked towards Rainfall, the other constantly moving, even down here in the warren where it was safe she was unable to relax fully.
Keeping right close to the other's haunches, eve htough the tunnel was plenty wide enough for two small outskirters to move alongside each other, Heather glanced back round at Rainfall, blinking before nodding softly.
"Sure... I.. would like that." Smiling shyly she followed Rainfall obediantly as the pair made their way slowly through the maze-like burrows of the warren.

"Good. You'll like et, promise. T'll be fun. Maybe we c'n even play outside!" Her voice seemed to rise in pitch as she continued to speak. It was clear, even in the darkness, that she was overly excited about this new little "game." They were certainly going to have some fun.
But fiiiiiiirst...
"Hey, come this way, 'kay? I betcha there is somethin' interestin'!" Her little nose was working in overdrive, taking in each scent of each rabbit that had passed by here. She did not recognize all of them, but quite a few.

Rainfall's boundless excitment was catching, even shy young Heather smiled, actually looking forward to playing with her new friend, little nose twitching at the idea. She even forgot to concentrate on listening, happy to follow wherever Rainfall led.
Nodding at the other's call she hopped along quickly, keeping her shoulder almost against Rainfall's flank, clearly still nervous about getting lost all over again but at least the smile had stayed in place.
"Where are we going?" She asked finally, unable to control her curiosity any longer.

"T' a surprise place."
The young outskirter grinned broadly in the darkness as her paws carried her deeper down a different run. She was whispering and her fur stood on end in fear and excitement as she made her way into the unknown. She knew exactly where they were going, though she had never been quite this close to the Owsla runs before.
Other outskirters told her this was near where the chief lived...
And she just had to see for herself, of course. Nothing else could explain her gnawing curiosity.
"This 's where th' Owsla live."
