In honor of the ⑨ Ice Fairy of the Touhou series of games. Happy Cirno day!
To explain a little, the reason today is known as Cirno Day or Day of Cirno is due to the fan parody of a screenshot similar to what you find in a game manual where they have a screenshot with numbers below it like this ⑨ that point to a part of the screenshot and explain what it is. Well in the game called Phantasmagoria of Flower View, Cirno had the ⑨ next to her and for the explanation down below, it said baka which means idiot. From this, the fanbase has made many parodies and jokes of this which has caused today with three 9s in a row as Cirno day.
Touhou is the name for a series of vertical shooters dubbed "Bullet Hell" for the style of shooter. There is 12 games out so far along with a few side games. (There is two fighter games [three technically though it is basically an expansion to the second one] as well as a camera taking pictures kinda game) I have them all on my computer and they make for a good little bit of stress relief or possibly giving further stress when frustrated. lol
The series has a very heavy fanbase that has spawned several fanbase created games, videos, drawings, mangas, vocal remixes, etc. Hell just type in Touhou in youtube and you'll see what I mean.
Creater of the games is known as ZUN and does everything on his own just about. He is the one that designs, programs, and creates the music for the games. Though his artwork for the characters is a little...well, an acquired taste I guess, fanbased pictures give a far better look at the characters.
