Eyal was just finishing patrolling with his oldest daughter at his side. She was telling him of how she'd gone hunting with the price recently. It had struck a note in his mind. Something to dicuss with the King. He'd probably find it funny but his daughter DID need a good mate. Even if the prince WAS lazy he'd shown some potential. Perhaps the two of them...

"You'll be babysitting your siblings you know." He said to Asenath with a smirk.

"What?" She gawked at her father. "I'm not a nanny! I'm a huntress! Besides I mean... You know how -I- was, how on earth will I be able to babysit? I'll get them into trouble."

"To teach you responsiblity. You're old enough. Besides, I think you'll have fun." The note in his voice made her believe that no, she wasn't going to have fun. That it'd be torture like she'd but her babysitters through. It couldn't end well. Not in the least.

Eyal shook his mane and carefully stepped up to the den where his litter was kept. His expression had become sad most of the time. For an unexplained reason his mate had left him and taken three of his cubs with her. Now he had only a son and a daughter. At least he had them. He greeted them with a soft sad smile.

Asenath stood sadly beside him. He was the only one who gained his true smiles now. Her step mother's leaving had taken a toll on him. She'd never seen him so upset. Stern, angry? Sure. But never sad. Not like this. It broke her heart but she gave the cubs a smile all the same. Maybe she could be their mother if they let her.

Little eyes struggled to pry themselves open as Aliyah rolled over to see the silhouette of her father at the entrance of the den. The cub opened her maw wide for a yawn, revealing her small but intimidating fangs, and squeaked as she stretched out.
"Papa- I was just taking a quick nap!"
Still so young, Ali saw nothing past Eyal's gentle smile. She greeted him with purrs and rubbed up against his legs affectionately before glancing up to see her half-sister standing beside him.

"Asenath!" The cub seemed to leap at the lioness, her voice and face exuberant as her tail wriggled behind her small body.
"Are you going hunting today? Can I come? Will you teach me something?!"
Aliyah spoke so quickly that she'd nearly gotten ahead of herself and had to stop to catch her breath.
"I promise I'll be good- I won't get in the way or anything!! PLEEEASE?"
By the end of the one-sided conversation the cub was all but begging, oblivious to the somber demeanor of her father and that of Asenath as well.

Chasin was pouting.

Not because he was being baby-sat, and not because his father wasn’t going to be spending the day alone with them as much as he had wanted him too. No, it had nothing to do with the circumstances- it was the fact that his sister had managed to jump at their older sibling first. He wanted to be the first one to greet Asenath. The boy had been sitting there with the back of his paws tight against his body, perfectly straight and ready. Then, a butterfly fluttered into the den and his mind had wandered, eyes and body following it around.

By the time he heard his sister, he knew it was too late. Looking over his shoulder, one butterfly wing hanging from his mouth, the devastated cub let his tail sink between his legs, his but almost dragging against the ground as he pulled himself over to his family. “Hello..” he said defeatedly, cuddling up against his father for support. His attitude picked up once lessons were mentioned. “Oh! Oh! Can we? Please?!” He asked, still pressed against his father.

Asenath's mind was taken off her troubles when the young cub bounded up to her. She opened her mouth to protest but even she was not immune to the adorableness of a cub. "Ah well I uh...."

Eyal stepped forward then glanced over at his son. A bit of pride on his muzzle when he saw the butterfly hanging from his mouth. He leaned over to give his starting mane a brush with his tongue and looked up at his daughter. "Ah, hunting is a good lesson but you two are too young yet to go on a hunt, however...." He paused for effect before continuing, "I believe that perhaps we could do something together. Perhaps a lesson without much danger too it."

His oldest daughter gave him a strange look. She knew that smirk. They were going to chase around prairie dogs. Oh she missed doing that! Best way to train. Ever. "Yes! I think I know exactly what you two need! You can follow me! Just be very quiet." She said glancing down at Ali and winking before turning and walking out.

Eyal smiled down at Chasin. "Come on. I'll give you special lessons." He voiced before following after the two girls.

Aliyah's little chest swelled with excitement and her eyes grew wide with anticipation as she, after looking to her brother enthusiastically, followed closely behind Asenath. She was just about to speak before she remembered that her elder sister had told them to be quiet, and with Ali, there was no being quiet when hunting lessons were involved. So it was best to just keep her mouth shut, though not before expressing an "oh, thank you!" or two.

Of course, it wasn't long before the sound of the four's passing paws grew tiresome and the cub had to ask, "so where are we going? What are we doing? Is this going to make us great hunters? Wouldn't that be great Chasin?!" Ali felt she might swoon at the thought and continued after her sister with her wriggling tail trailing behind her small form.
