 She was covered in sand, literally covered. It poured from her as she moved, sliding between her fur, leaving trails even as she moved up into the grasslands away from the sea. Some weed clung to her shoulder, too, flapping with each stroke of her legs.
She was very much a tomboy, this girl, and that defiant, adventurous gleam in her eye was apparant almost all the time.
Leaving the sea behind, she moved up and over an incline and shook the last sand from her fur. It scattered the air with gold, leaving her looking less sandy but certainly not less scruffy.
Her name was Kirjava.
She blinked into the clear sky, twitched her whiskers, and moved onwards again, head lowered in aid of her quickened pace. It was unclear where she was heading to, but wherever it was, she wanted to get there fast.

 The sea beckoned to her, the soft song of the waves singing a siren's song. As she crested a hill, she paused, noticing a spray of gold. Line of vision following the path back, she soon spotted a cub. Now this was curious! Or was it? A cub by the sea!
Trotting over, the lioness found the cub to be the same color, almost, of some of the sand. This just made things more ineresting! "'Ello, little cub!" Perhaps there were more locals... If there were, she wanted to meet them!

She paused and turned her head, blinking her vibrant green eyes up at the stranger. She was not afraid - for she did not know fear yet - but was curious and her nose twitched thoughtfully. After a moment a smile scrawled its way across her maw and she turned to face the other fully.
She gave a short little bob of her head and then lifted her ears and tail high. "Hello!" Her eyes widened. "Your fur! It's...it's beautiful! To look at you is to see the sea!" She drew closer.
"You must be one of us, yes?" She blinked, craning her head up to look. "I am Kirjava, pleased to meet you!"

Stopping in front of the cub, the lioness smiled. "Why, thank you! I get it from my mother! My father, 'e was all browns, like the earth, but my mother, she was all greens and blues like the sea!" The very sea that called to her...
"One of you? I am afraid I do not understand, quite so much, what you mean by that..." She leaned down, getting at the cub's level. "I am Chafuko'dimbwi, but my friends, they call me Dimbwi! And it is a pleasure to meet you, too, Kirjava!"

She smiled. "Then I'll call you, Dimbwi, since I want to be your friend, too." She continued briskly. "Well...one of us. A member of the pride. The Bahari'mtoto. We're lions of the sea. Soooo, since you have that coloured fur, you must belong here, too!"
She purred and sat back to look into the other's face. "The sea is magical, isn't it? I spend all day there when its fine out. I'm looking for the seaweed monster, but I haven't found him yet. I will someday, though!"
She beamed and curled her tail around her. "It's my life goal!"

The lioness gave the cub a surprised look. A pride? So there WAS someone living here already! She hoped she wasn't intruding or anything... But then, she DID love the sea, and it sounded like they did, too. "I am afraid I am new to the area, I did not even know anybody lived 'ere until you told me!"
Her gaze turned to the sea in the near-distance. As the waves crashed on the shore, she took in a deep breath, letting it out slowly and happily. "It is beautiful!" She looked again at Kirjava. "The... Seaweed monstar? I am afraid I do not understand..."
