It had been a long and exhausting trip plastered to her little window seat of the airplane, as Alba had tried desperately to keep as much to herself as possible and not touch the portly gentleman with the newspaper and the raging body odor beside her. She felt the consequences now, of not getting much sleep: her eyes were as if they were deeply imbedded into her skull, her hands clutched at an interestingly retro-looking suitcase a little too tightly for her own good, and she could just barely make out the scenery outside of her cab's window.

There was only one thing certain in her mind: she was going to a public school. Well, not public by the literal means of it, since it was technically a highly prized private academy, but as a person who spent most of her life being home-schooled, any institute with more than one people just felt. Exciting, and full of life.

Her parents would have escorted her here, but they were busy with their jobs. Instead, they treated her out and doted to her every desire and whim on her last day, and before they all knew it, it was time to go to the airport and say their good-byes. It was a strange feeling for Alba, being separated by her parents and living on her own for the first time. She had nearly cried on the plane from the thought of it, but now she's either gotten past it, or was just too tired to care.

The taxi slowed to a stop, and standing in front of her was one of the most majestic buildings she had ever seen in her life. Many girls were bustling about, none wearing the uniform she had air-mailed to her before she left (as school hasn't started just yet), but she could tell from their grace that they were elegant and beautiful people....not much like her. Having gotten out of the cab, she paid the driver, and immediately dove into her little tote bag to find a piece of paper already crumbled up.

ROOM 150 had been scribbled in pencil. Her dorm number. She looked around herself to see if here were any buildings that were clearly meant for living in, and was at a loss. Everything looked the same! A sense of panic began to rose, and would have escalated to anxiety had she not spotted a sign pointing to her left that read: DORMING FACILITIES.

That was a close one. On her first day here and she almost got lost! Sighing off her panic, she followed the signs to get to where she was now: standing in front of the door with beautiful, almost calligraphy-like gold numbers that matched the ones written on her slip of paper.

This is it, she thought, wondering if she and her roommate would get along, or if her roommate would even like her, or hell, maybe she wasn't even around to begin with. There was only one way to know.

Lifting a hand, she gingerly knocked on the door three times, and waited, clutching on that same suitcase that she's had since she left her hometown, filled with all of the memories of her past life and with enough room for new ones to make their way in.

(uuuh, most likely, my posts after this won't be NEARLY as long XD woooo for introduction paragraphs, or Alba's introduction! and if you'd like to know for reference, she's currently wearing a very long and flowing skirt of about a canvas color, and a loose dark green tank-top with wide straps and gold-thread embroidery at the top. very comfortable clothes for hot weather)

Bell was headed back to her dorm, arms overloaded with fabric. She was just returning from a long rendevous at the city's arts center, prepairing for their next play, when as usual, she got stuck doing a whole slew of things along with practicing her role. Ugh! It fired up one of her major pet peeves - people with a lack of..lack of...ugh! Just people who don't do anything!

Now, earlier that day she had been reminded that her new room mate would be arriving, but that was before she had linins and dress sizes thrown at her. For a moment she wondered just who this stranger was standing at her door. Then she remembered--

"Oh! Let me get that! I'm sorry!" Bell shifted the fabric to one arm, trying not to drop it, as she grabbed her key out of her pocket. "The time got away from me I suppose!" she said as the key clicked, and the door opened.

"Go on in," Bell said with a small smile.

After several minutes went by without an answer, Alba was beginning to wonder if maybe her luck was just sour for the day when she heard Bell rushing down the hallway. "Oh!" She exclaimed, and quickly moved herself and her luggage out of the way to make room for the bustling girl, who had just as much stuff (if not more) hanging from her arms as she did!

"Ah- thank you, very much," Alba managed to awkwardly spit out while she quickly hustled her way into the dorm. What awaited her was a room much larger than she would have ever thought would be offered for a school, and though it wasn't very decorated, it was still a lovely room with loads of natural sunlight spilling in from large windows, and beyond that...a balcony with a view!

Had she not remembered that Bell had her own things to carry in, Alba would have stopped and stared for several more moments to take it all in. She didn't think she'd ever stayed anywhere near as nice or as large as this dorm; needless to say, she was impressed.

"This is a very nice room..." She mumbled, "Um....is that your bed over there?" She nudged her shoulder towards to light-blue canopied-bed in the left-hand corner.

"Indeed, it is." Bell answered as she hustled over and dropped the fabric onto the neatly made surface. Before now she had been using the extra bed for stuff like that, but she managed to clean it up, and put fresh sheets on it the other night.

"I've not done much decorating, other than my own little corner, ask you can see."

The canopy had been made from some left-overs from a set that, as usual, she had helped to set up. Sometimes doing extravagant amounts of work had its benifits after all...
The rest of the room, however, save for the bed and her vanity, had been left colorless and clean. She sheets Bell has found for the other bed were the only other color in the room.

"It looks very lovely." Alba commented, adoring the pale shade of blue sheer that hung above the bed, much like a mosquito net. So as not to stand holding on to her things any longer, she took the few steps she needed towards her bed (it sounded odd just thinking about it, her bed) and unceremoniously dumped her suitcase and tote bag onto it. It felt good to finally get them off of her hands and shoulders, anyways. It's a good step towards feeling more...ah, at home.

"I still really love this room, though," She replied to Bell's decorating comment. "Perhaps on some time off we can do a few things together to put some color into the room..? I've brought a lot of fabric and what-nots from home, I usually like to drape them or hang them on walls."

"If you don't mind, anyways," And with that, she turns around and offers a polite hand-shake, complete with dazzling first-impression smile. "My name's Alba Delores, and you?"

Bell shook Alba's hand, and gave a smile of her own. "I'm Bell McMahon. Feel free to do with the room as you like. I'm not really in it all that much."

Bell walked back over to her bed and flopped down on it, careful of the fabric she had laid down there. It had been a long day. Expecially with the impending start of school. Eventually, though, it would become old hat again.
But as for right now, Bell really didn't know what to say. She was, despite theatre, a bit on the shy side.

"You need help putting anything away?"

Her smile grew wider at the introduction. "It's very nice to meet you, Bell! I'm sure we'll get along very well."

As Bell took the opportunity to finally rest her feet, Alba turned around and began to strategize how, exactly, she was going to put everything together and/or away, where things were going to go, and all of that unpacking business that one must go through to eventually regain a sense of home. She started by first unclasping the locks of her suitcase, and with a loud pop, the top exploded open as clothes, fibers, various school supplies and anything else she was able to jam in before nearly spilled out in a heap, though she was very quick to stop them.

She carefully freed an arm to quickly wave away Bell's offer. "Erm...I think I will be alright, actually. It might seem like a lot, but I can definitely manage. Thanks for asking!"

Several fabrics of different textures and colors were at the very top of the pile, and probably a last minute decision on Alba's part to bring them in. "How long have you been going to school here? Are you apart of any clubs?" She asked as she began to section the fabrics off. If Bell were to have taken a closer look, she would have noticed that they were of hand-made woven material, and very colorful.

"No prob. I've got to find a place for all this-" She motioned to the fabric beside her. She then pulled out a piece of paper that had all the measurements she needed from her pocket.

It was then the colorful material that Alba possessed caught her eye. She watched for a moment, without saying anything, before looking back to her own fabric, with its muted colors. Well, at least none of it should get too mixed up...

She must have not heard my questions, Alba thought as she folded her ...well, she could really use them for anything: wall tapestries, fabrics draped over furniture, fabric for clothes, or even just simple bikini wraps. Either way, she loved the colors and the patterns, and felt that they were the perfect memento tokens to remind her of her hometown.

It had gone a few minutes with silence, so while she was sorting out her pack, she glanced back to see Bell scribbling down some notes on a piece of paper, and still surrounded by fabrics. "Do you sew?" She asked, hoping that maybe she did. They could make fun sewing projects together, and maybe she herself could improve from her little headbands and silk scarves.

Indeed, Bell had not heard her questions - lost in thought and self-conciousness. Though the question about sewing jumped her out of it.

"Oh! Ah, indeed I do. It's definately not one of my favorite hobbies, but sometimes I just don't know how to say 'no,' haha!' He gave a small laugh. Of course, she had never really been ASKED if she even WANTED to do the costumes. Oh well...

"What about you? I see you have many fabrics with you.."

Her interest definitely picked up. Perhaps she and her new roommate could trade crafting knowledge and have little sewing/craft night parties! She loved doing that with her parents, on the few nights they were all together. Alba had finally gotten all of her fabrics and fibrous materials such as yarn, ribbons, and strings sorted carefully on her bed by type, and was now trying to find if perhaps there was any furniture that had already come with the dorm, like the bed had. Maybe there was a dresser, or a wardrobe. If not, there was some shopping to do within the day.

"Oh, I wish I could, but I can only do very simple things like silk scarves and headbands. See?" She pointed a long, slender finger towards her head, where a dark green and chartreuse-accented silk headband is buried amidst a head full of thick, messy hair. "I'd love to learn more! I'm better at making small accessories, though I'm soo interested in making clothes.....and who asks you to sew? Is it for school, or a job...?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 20, 2009 3:27 pm

"I sew for the arts center, drama department. I prefer acting, but since no one else will take the initiative, I end up doing it. I just got the sizes and fabric for our current production, The Secret Garden."
It was obvious she was rather frustrated with the situation. It was one thing when she wanted to sew. It was a totally different one when she was being told to.

"If you'd like, maybe sometime I'll show you how. It's not too hard."
Bell stifled a yawn with her hand, then stretched.
"I think I'm going to get to bed early though. I hope you don't mind. Oh, and don't worry about making too much noise while getting things settled. I'll deal with it, no problem. 'Night!"

As she said that, she moved the fabric to a safe place, and crawled in to bed.

((If you wish, you can do a final post, and this one will be finished. We can start up another whenever you like!))

"Oh, that was one of my favorite books! I bet the play is just lovely..." She commented, happy to hear that her new roommate is also into creative endeavors, wether it was willfully or not. "Maybe I can help you with production with the next play! I'm not much for being in the spotlight or acting, I'm afraid I'd get stage fright....but I love decorating, and if I get any better at sewing, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand at that as well."

It would definitely be a nice environment to meet new people, and even potential new friends! She was happy that her day, albeit had started a little more than rough around the edges, was beginning to look better, especially for the near-future of her after school life.

At the sound of Bell's yawn, Alba couldn't help stifling her own in response. She definitely didn't get enough sleep the night before in the plane..it was certainly not a bad idea to follow suite once she was done putting a few more things away. "I don't mind...I'll actually probably turn in soon too, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night and my eyes are killing me. Good night!"

(blah, sorry this took so long! D: would love another RP if you ever have the time of the two doing production/play stuff )
