Question: Any Cold Case scoop on Lilly Rush? —Sammy
Ausiello: “We are going to start where we left off — with the military school case,” explains Kathryn Morris. “Daniel Baldwin, who plays Moe Kitchener, the guy who tried to kill me and was covering up the murder we solved at the military school, gets off on bond. That means you have to be a good boy for nine months, so for the whole season we have this cat-and-mouse thing going where we are trying to screw each other over. Daniel will be in and out throughout the season. Lily has always been on the side of the law and it has always worked for her, but this time the justice system is not working to her advantage. This guy tried to kill her and she is a little shaken and a lot angry. She might just have to take things into her own hands. She might go a little rogue.” She’ll get an assist from returning lover Bobby Cannavale, who “has been undercover in narcotics for awhile. He starts sending me signals from undercover that maybe I want to reconnect with him. He [ends up] helping me with the Moe Kitchener situation. Sometimes he’s had to blur the lines himself.”

Question: I am really confused. Did I miss a scoop that Tracie Thoms was leaving Cold Case? I liked her character and enjoyed how Miller was starting to get to know ADA Bell. Is she off the show for good? —Paige
Ausiello: No, not for good. Thoms’ episode order was cut back this season, so Miller will be missing in spots. But a Cold Case insider assures me that she remains a series regular and we’ll see her again “soon enough.”

Question: Do me a favor and track down some Cold Case scoop. —Barbara Ausiello: Okay, but you owe me one, Barbara (and don’t think I won’t collect). In one of next month’s episodes, the crew attends the wedding of a work acquaintance, and, upon learning that the bride’s last fiance was found dead only hours after dumping her, turns the event into their own personal game of Clue. Not enough for ya? The guest cast includes the former Mrs. Macaulay Culkin, Rachel Miner (Californication), as the wannabe wife, onetime Damages stiff Noah Bean as the ill-fated ex, and the erstwhile Krod Mandoon, Sean Maguire, as the deceased’s best bud.

Question: If this is Cold Case’s final season, will we get closure? Any scoop in the meantime? – Joe
Ausiello: According to Kathryn Morris, no matter what happens, the plan is to leave the, er, Case open. “Our intention with this season,” she says, “is in no way to tie things up with a bow. We are really going for it.” Translate that for me… I mean for Joe, Kathryn. “Lily almost died [in last season's finale], and now we are really going to get into [the fallout from] that story. She has the potential for going rogue [as] she questions the code the detectives live by, because it didn’t work when trying to put the guy away that tried to kill her.”
