So I've read the first books of the Old Testament multiple times, but I've never read all the way through. I am almost there, though. (I usually get stuck in Isaiah or Jeremiah, but I got those read!) And there are some wonderful verses I've been missing out on. I'm mostly referring to the later books, like Nahum and Zephaniah. I love the books of Genesis, Exodus, Daniel, and the like, but some of the ones that really stood out were in the midst of the prophecies that are largely warning Israel, and the world, of their destruction because of wickedness. Nestled in those books are verses and chapters of wonderful love, hope, and peace. So I would like people to share their favorite OT verses, or even just ones that made them go, "Wow!"
Zechariah 9: 9-10 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an a**, and upon a colt the foal of an a**. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

Isaiah 44:6-8 (King James Version)
6Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
7And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
8Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

Isaiah 44:22
22 I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you."

Zechariah 12: 7-8, 10 7 The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah. 8 In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them. ... 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

I love the sweetness of verse eight and God's love for His people.

New thought for the thread: symbols of Christ in the Old Testament. For example, the Israelites were fed with mana in the wilderness, and Jesus Christ is the bread of life. Especially looking at John 6, where Christ fed the people and then is teaching them to look for the eternal sustenance of the Gospel, He mentions, "I am the the living bread come down from heaven." That is literally like mana and a spiritual truth of where Christ came from.
There are lots more, so feel free to run wild!

They may be alike, but that does not mean they are the same. A cow has four feet, but so does a dog. They are alike, but not he same. You have to be careful with stuff like that.
