Strongear had been up since late afternoon, every once in awhile he would brave the afternoon temperatures, something he felt he was doing in order to become a better scout. In actuality Strongear had no clue what it took to be a scout, he had spent so much time coming and going from the lands at night to meet others on the outside that he hadn't really learned all that he should have about the pack.
It was now well into the night and the pack was bussling with activity, most dogs were up now and going about there business. Strongear on the other hand was laying by father tree with his mind wondering about a particular wild dog he had spent a couple days with outside of the pack lands, he had tried to convince her to come back with him to the pack, although he wasn't sure how Twana would feel about that, but he was sure she could find enough love in her to accept anyone, it was what the pack was all about. Perhaps next time he was out with Licentia , the wild dog his thoughts were circling around, he would be able to convince her to come back and meet a few of the other dogs.

Kizuka was feeling a bit lonely these days. Not because she didn't have company, her pups were still living with her and she loved spending time with them as they grew, but they were getting more independent. They didn't need her as much, and she didn't have to devote her time to them.
It was a bit saddening, really, because she liked having that occupation. She liked being important to someone, to three someones in fact, because she had never felt that way before. All her life she had been alone, but since joining the Peke Na she had found everything was changing.
She liked it.
But it spoiled her. Now she was used to company and smiling and fitting in with other dogs who came out at night. Lonely days were harder on her now, though she had spent most of her life alone. Sighing, she padded toward the Father Tree to think a little. She wasn't expecting company, and hesitated when she saw someone else in the spot she liked to sit in.
"Uhm..." she said, then she looked away. Maybe she would go back to the den.

Strongear stood when he saw the women dog turn away, "Wait" he called out. "You don't have to leave there is room for both of us here." he gave her a quick smile.
Strongear had seen the other dog around the pack but hadn't really had a conversation with her in the past, he wasn't sure he even knew her name... he just recognized her face.
He took a step forward, "My name is Strongear" he sat in front of her "Its nice to meet you, come sit with me." He nodded towards the open area beside him.

Kizuka looked at the other pack member anxiously. She nodded slowly when he asked her to stay, not knowing how to leave now that he was talking to her. That would be rude, wouldn't it? She was still picking up on tact and common courtesy, but she was fairly sure that was right.
She tried to offer him a smile, but if failed. Her face was often stoic, and rarely reflected how she was really feeling. She looked him over with her bright yellow eyes. He seemed nice enough.
Then again, everyone in the pack was nice. So she couldn't really decide if she liked him or not based on that. She just hoped she wouldn't do or say anything that he would get mad about. Talking was so awkward and full of hassle!
"Phantomsoul... my name..." she said slowly, eyes falling back to the grass, "nice to meet... you too..." She meant it, but her words often came slowly. Growing up without the need to talk, she still had to work on getting her sentences and words right now. She moved to sit near him, though not too near, glancing up. "You... like this spot? ...I sit here... sometimes... for quiet. It's... nice..."

Strongear smiled at the female wild dog, her slowness to words didn't bother Strongear, he had a couple other of friends around the pack who had difficulty in social situations, he just made up for the there lack of social skills with his bubbliness.
"I do like sitting here, be close to father tree is nice." he looked up to his side towards father tree. "Also a lot of pack activities take place around father tree, so if I hang around here I can watch them all. I like to watch other dogs go about their life." he smiled at her.
"So how long have you been in the pack, I would like to think that I know everyone here but I don't." he waited to see if the other dog would settle a bit, he hated to think that she was uneasy with him.

She nodded. She liked being near the Father Tree. She didn't know what it was about the place, since she wasn't much for 'reading' things in the air or understanding what nature was wont to tell her. But for some reason or another the tree soothed her, and she liked it. She smiled and nodded as he pointed it out.
"Me too..." she said, when he told her he liked to watch the others go about their lives. She had always watched everyone else as she grew up. Always alone, unable to go outside in the daylight due to her sensitive eyes, she had gotten used to watching life move around her as she hid in the shadows. Now she just kept the habit because it wasn't something she wanted to shake. She liked seeing others happy, and, in an odd way, she liked watching them work through their problems, too.
She considered his question.
"A little while... I guess. You were... born here? I... was found... followed them back." She nodded slowly. She tilted her head at the younger dog, her eyes soft. Even if her face didn't reflect that she was getting more comfortable, her eyes and body language did enough. She wasn't quite as tense.

Zuberi watched as she saw the other female relax and he smiled, he liked to think he had a presence about him that cause other to relax. He was a very happy go lucky young dog. He settled in amounst the roots of Father Tree before answering her question.
"I was born here, though that doesn't make it anymore my home then yours." he said to her quickly fearing that she might considerate that way. "One of the great things about Peke Na is that we all belong from the moment we come here, time means nothing." he smiled he really was in love with the ways of his pack.
"My mother came when she was pregnant and had my siblings and I here, I have ventured out into the outside world, but I have never stayed away long, this place does draw you back.
"I am glad you followed them back," he told her sweetly, gives me a chance to make a new friend, he smiled at her hoping he could get her to open up more.

Kizuka looked at him, nodding. She didn't seem offended by his comment, though, it probably wouldn't have shown on her face, anyway. She listened to his little story quietly, politely but really just being shy.
"I like it here..." she said simply, in reply to his saying how the place had the ability to draw one back. She hadn't been drawn to the lands, she didn't think. She just remembered meeting wild dogs that moved at night, like she did, and knowing she had to follow them. The lands had been here when they arrived. But she was happy they had come here. Maybe she would have liked any place, but she felt like it was fair to say she probably wouldn't have been as happy anywhere else.
After all, what other place had this tree? None. So it was that simple.
She nodded, looking down and shuffling her paws. She felt a tickle in her throat, maybe like a laugh. Her yellow eyes, at least, reflected her amusement.

Strongear smiled and got a little energized by the twinkle that was showing in her eyes. He was hoping that it was because of him that she was showing this difference, this small gesture of happiness.
"Have you decided what your position in the pack shall be?" Strongear asked her. Trying to get her to open up a little more. Since Strongear was a youngin he had decided that he was going to be a scout, partially because of one of his sisters told him he would be good at it.

Kizuka lifted her yellow eyes and watched as Strongear's smile, which seemed ever present anyway, broadened. He was a happy dog, that was for sure.
Her tail flicked. Slightly. Kind of.
"Uhm." She looked thoughtful. She knew what title the pack had given her, but she had forgotten how to say it. Generally she hadn't put the words together, while growing up, and now it was a little hard to remember which order they went in.
"Shape," she said, looking at him seriously. She nodded her head. That was the right word. "Tree Shape. Er. Shaper." She sighed. She knew she sounded stupid, but it wasn't that. Talking had just not been a part of her life for so long, it was very complicated to try and adapt to it, even if she had been with the pack for so long.

Strongear's smile never wavered, he didn't mind that the female wild dogged stuttered , it was endearing really or at least he thought so. When she told him that she was a Tree Shaper his mouth dropped open just a little. Tree Shapping was a rare and awesome talent, he hadn't met a Tree Shaper in the pack yet.
"Wow" he said in a small whisper, "That really is a talent." he gave her a wink and a smile. He looked back over the pack lands, happy to see all the dogs about, he really did like being a part of a family like this one.
As his eyes scanned through the various members of the pack, they settled on one dog in particular, he recognized his mate Twana, turning back towards Kizuka he said, "Sorry to cut our meeting short but I see someone I must go talk to. It was really nice meeting you, enjoy the shade of Father Tree." he smiled one last time before sauntering off into the crowds of the pack.

Kizuka smiled when he complimented her skill, looking down to hide it. She rarely ever smiled, though not because she was rude or angry. It was just one more thing she wasn't used to doing. Even this one was a bit on the pathetic side. Small, and short lived, but at least it had been there.
"O-okay," she said with a nod. She looked at him, stoic expression restored.
"It was... nice meeting you..." She returned. She watched him walk off, eyes moving over the pack members in the distance. This was her family. How strange that was. She moved to lay down, stretching her back legs out to the side. Putting her head on her paws, she closed her eyes to take a nap.
She would have pleasant thoughts and warm feelings to keep her company.
END!
