[PRP] From One Halfbreed to Another (Morana and Paradox)

It was a surprisingly cool day. A light breeze and the grey clouds caused the day to be slightly pleasant. The sun was slowly descending towards the horizon as the moon peeked out slightly from behind a cloud. It wasn't completely dark just yet, but it was getting there little by little.

A small halfbreed mare sauntered along the side of the woods. She stayed just under the trees and made little to no noise. Morana's ears flicked and her muzzle raised slightly to catch the breeze. If anyone was coming towards her, she hoped she would be able to catch their scent with the help of the breeze. Her pupiless eyes scanned the area every few seconds. It was best for one to always stay on their toes, or at least that was what she believed.

Paradox hadn't been this close to the edge of his forest in ages. It felt good to escape the dark bleakness of the marshy trees. He stepped carefully, mindful of the mud patches, as he made his way towards the thinner arranging of trees at the edge.

As he approached, he saw the strangest thing. A pure ivory mare, drenched in blood. "Forgive me for saying this," he said with a smile, "but you don't see too many others of our nature around these parts, my lady."

The sound of somewhat heavy footfall caught the mare's attention and her ears twisted in the direction of the soft noise. Before she noticed the stallion, she heard his voice and almost instinctively snarled, pinned her ears to her head, and snapped a glare towards the mainly white stallion. Oh how her father would be proud of her for sticking up for herself, but her mother would have turned away.

The small, young mare cocked an eyebrow as she listened to the stallion, "Your lady?" She let her pupiless eyes scan the stallion slowly, taking note of how much bigger than herself he was, his wings, then his horn. So that was what he meant by no one being like themselves. Her ears flicked forward slightly, her lip uncurled and her gaze softened very slightly. "I guess you are right, stallion. Not many others like ourselves are around." Maybe this stallion would actually understand her.

"We are a breed apart...halflings, mixed blood. Filled with desires and natures that others just don't understand. Like the sweet taste of blood, spilled on the new grass of spring." He peered at her, his lips lifting in a wicked smile, revealing short fangs previously hidden. "My name is Paradox. Might I be graced with the knowledge of your name?"

Paradox knew to tread carefully around such a mare. Unikalona were generally unstable...as he would be if not for the traces of Angeni blood that ran through his veins, balancing his Kalona and Unicorn traits and temperaments.

Her tail lashed as she eyed the stallion. The mention of blood made the mare's heart pound against her chest. Her senses rose and her tail lashed wildly behind her. His question caught her off guard and she watched him for a moment before weighing her options. Tell this stallion her name or keep it a mystery to him.

Her voice was emotionless, much like her eyes, as she answered his question simply, "Morana." She let her eyes travel over the stallion slowly this time, taking in most of his features. He was interesting and it drew out the curiosity inside of her. Morana wanted to know more about this stallion.
