Aeryn tilted her head up to the sky, observing the beautiful colors that streaked the sky with the setting sun. It was times like this that serenity became a burden to her, she paced restlessly, wanting something to do, something to preoccupy her mind from the sea of melancholy that threatened to devour her very existence. Sighing heavily, the female turned from the sun and towards the dusk, heading in the direction of the rising moon. She had never been concerned much for territories and their boundaries, Aery knew she could hold her own, just preferred not to. If she was left alone, she left others alone, ‘twas the way of the world for her.

A quiet hoot came from above, startling the lovely ash brown female from her disturbing thoughts that had taken. Above was a snowy owl, something one didn’t see much, staring at her with huge eyes that seemed to penetrate one to the soul. Aery glanced about her nervously, finding nothing else the owl hooted once more and flew off. In a moment Aeryn decided she should fallow, it wasn’t like she had much more to do anyway.

He'd be doing some recon work. That's what he had told his sister when he left her only twenty minutes earlier. In reality, the spotted male simply wanted some time to himself in order to think and get his thoughts all in order. They had left their birth pack of the Outriders, something he thought they would never do. Abra's idol and role model, Phib, who was also their grandfather, was there and the black wolf wanted nothing more than to follow him around. Orion tolerated that behavior, but he had to admit that he was relieved as well as shocked when Abra announced they would be setting out on their own.

She said she wanted to explore the world and perhaps start a pack of her own. She had even gone so far as to pick up this ragged male by the name of Miles. Orion thought the brown male was stupid and rather worthless, but his sister thought otherwise and so he tolerated the situation. But he wouldn't have to for long.

He had his own plan for the future, and it didn't involve being his sister's lackey for the rest of his life.

But in a moment the wind shifted and a new smell was brought to his keen nose. Stiffening where he was, he took the time to take in the scent and to analyze it. It belonged to another wolf, a female. He wasn't particularly fond of them, as to him they were all air-headed daydreamers, but he figured that he should start building up his alliance if he was to get anywhere in life.

An owl flew overhead, and he watched it for a moment before fixing his gaze straight ahead. He could hear someone approaching, and instead of lunch they'd find a wolf waiting for them.

Aeryn stopped where she was, a good distance from the snowy male much like the owl she had been following. Her eyes self-consciously narrowed as she observed him from afar, not wanting to get close enough to find out if he was friend or foe. Her hackles bristled under the scrutiny of this standstill, unsure of where or what to do next. Cautiously she strode forward, giving the other a large distance she observed him quietly. He was a lovely color, but something in his eyes when she could see him clearly said that plainly he was not entirely as pure as his fur indicated.

The female was currently so grounded it was like the world had slowed down so that only she and this strange wolf existed in the clearing. Quietly she decided it was best to speak, to break this strange silence she felt she provoked somehow… it was almost like she was disturbing the clearing just by stepping into it, disturbing his thought process.
“Hello.” She said quietly, just audible over the distance she allowed between them.

A small smile crept across the silver male's face, but it was far from friendly. He didn't purposely try to look mean, it just sort of... happened. It was the way he was, and when he was away from his sister he simply had less control over that. And, after getting a look at this wolf, he couldn't help but think maniacal. Her pelt was dark, just the way he liked it. He liked stealth, and a dark coat could easily slip into the shadows and move about unnoticed. His own pelt was silver and spotted, which actually worked in his favor when the moon was full and shining upon the forest with all its brilliance.

Although he had to strain to hear the other, he felt that things were starting off relatively well. She didn't seem stupid, at least not yet, and her instincts for self-preservation appeared sharp.

"Hello," he returned, his voice soft and somewhat silky as he shifted into a sitting position. He could tell that she was disturbed in a way by his appearance, and he thought that indeed she wasn't stupid. He could be a real threat when he wanted to, and it would seem that she was recognizing that.

"I hope I didn't frighten you," he spoke politely, his words betraying his earlier body language. His social skills were somewhat off, thanks to his sister putting him on the backburner, but he felt that he could manage on his own without that black wretch. He'd show her that she'd made a grave mistake making him her shadow and not her second in command. She'd regret everything.

"I just heard you coming and I didn't want you to think I was seeking you out for some ill purpose, so I thought it'd be best to stay put." A bluff, but hopefully she wouldn't catch that.

Aeryn remained standing perfectly still even as the other sat, something was telling her to be on guard with this male, that he was neither friend nor foe, but easily both. The ash brown female heard the last of his comments and nodded briefly not giving off that she heard little to no emotion beneath the calm words.

Not much frightened Aeryn anymore, but she was always cautious and observant, it kept her alive. She met his steely eyes with her own warm and forced a smile that was almost genuine upon her lips.
“I do suppose you came out of no where, but no harm was done. I am intact and all is well.”

She kept the distance between them, wondering what exactly this male had planned for her seeing as his words were obviously false and carefully thought out, but something… yes something underneath it all… a small hurt seemed to remind her of someone, someone she had been very close to indeed. Perhaps that is why she was so cautious of this strange male, he looked just like her former mate, her lost love. But the look was one that she knew well, one she saw reflected in a pool of water after she had slaughtered every single hunter that had been on the hunt that took her beloved away.

For a brief moment in time the females eyes darkened unbeknownst to her and she looked positively dangerous, but as she pushed such thoughts away the look disappeared and she was suddenly herself again. Standing amid a clearing, locking eyes with a strange male she did not know, who was certainly not her mate, but someone she understood.

The female was obviously defensive towards him, keeping her distance from him and always having one eye watching him. He supposed that he couldn't exactly blame her, as he had given her no reason to trust him and he wasn't acting particularly friendly. He also though, however, that he wasn't acting precisely threatening, either.

"Why wouldn't you be intact? I've no intention to harm you," he spoke, letting out a slight chuckle. That, at least, was the truth. While Orion didn't think a female could hold her own against a fully grown male, he also didn't want to get into a scuffle and have to explain himself to his sister. Again. She always looked down on him like he was always acting out in ways that he shouldn't, but she never once laid blame upon that dirt colored male. She was struck by puppy love, the silver male told himself, and something needed to bring her out of it. He figured his plan would work well enough, if only he could rally the right wolves to his cause.

As he watched her, trying to figure out if he could trust her with his plan, he noticed a subtle change in her facial expression. She looked almost angry, like she would rip into the next thing that happened across her path. He didn't fear her, but something in him moved to want her fighting for his cause. There was something in her, possibly something that he could manipulate and turn to good use. It was dangerous, and he liked that. His own eyes shone with new interest, and he shifted restlessly upon his haunches. He didn't want to give everything away all at once, so he tried to focus himself. Cranium tilted and eyes blinked as he appeared concerned for her earlier change of mood.

"Is something wrong?" he questioned, hoping to find out the one point at which she was weakest, and at which he could turn her into a pawn.

Aeryn looked at the male unsure of what to make of the question. Many had asked her that over the years, but she had never been able to explain it.
“Is there anything in this world that is right?” She questioned in turn, avoiding his question with her own, which she was genuinely curious how he would respond. She lowered her haunches to the ground, sitting just opposite of him but a good distance still away. Aeryn tipped her head to the side, pondering something for a few moments, before brushing all her thoughts away.

Her gaze shifted ever so slightly to observe their surroundings, but never quite far enough to keep him from her peripheral vision. Her thoughts were a bit scrambled with the question, was everything all right? Did she have any apprehensions; well that was an unfair question she thought to herself, everyone has apprehensions. The female kept her face clear, after so long living on her own she had to at least learn that much, but Aeryn was more of a person that would talk herself out of a situation then fight. Her thoughts befell upon her old family, and decided that wasn’t exactly true, if something was taken from her she would fight… and kill any in her way, but she had nothing now to force her.

Caught off guard by the female's evasion of his question, the silver male repositioned himself upon his haunches. His tail lay limp behind him, showing no emotion. His ears remained stiff atop his head, neither falling back in submission nor pushing forward to show interest or any indication of dominance. His eyes danced as they watched her, perhaps the only sign that he did indeed have something going on within is statuesque body. They expressed momentary confusion before he regained his composure and looked at the other wolf calmly.

"I like to believe that it's only wrong for us to make right," he spoke finally, still itching to get to the bottom of this she-wolf. Something had to give, and he was determined to find her weakness. "If everything was all right, what would be left for us to do? What purpose would we serve?" And that was what he truly believed. Without any bullshit, Orion had revealed his deepest desires and intentions without specifying what his plans were. He knew that the situation with his sister was all wrong, that he belonged at the head of the group and not her. Females were meant for tending the home, not for leading packs and fronting battles. That was the male's job, and he was determined to set her right and put himself in his rightful position. He would be a great alpha some day, and Abra would simply be his loyal follower. As it should be.

"Perhaps you should say what is troubling you. Oftentimes, that's the hardest part. And if we don't realize what we're after, how can we ever achieve it?" He smiled, not very kindly, as he sat watching her. She wouldn't get away from him so easily.

This hunter always caught his prey.
