Getting up early as she usually did, Daeze had went through her morning ritual, watching the sunrise, finding anything reflective and fixing herself for the day, so that she may look presentable. Everything had gone off without a hitch so far, and now she was on to her mid-day schedule. First on the agenda: Sun-bask on a warm rock. Padding over to her usual spot, gently, she laid herself down, curling her tail over her nose for a comfortable nap. She let out a deep contented sigh. Daeze was in heaven. Feeling the sun's rays along her back, as the rock reflected the warmth onto her stomach. She gave a quick stretch before settling down once again. Today was going to be a good day, she could tell. She had no hunting duty today, and she was full, and on a warm rock. Her dream day. Until she suddenly broke out of her calm state, hearing a lion pass her by, fearing that it was her acquittance, Hermes, who seemed to have a thing for her. Looking around in paranoia, she saw only the usual lions, doing their jobs and scurrying about. With a sigh of relief, she lowered her head and once again flicked her white-tipped tail over her nose.
Hiding, not too far away, hermes watched as the dusty pink lioness settled in for her nap, after her quick look around he grins and pads up to her laying down beside her and wrapping his tail over her back "I have a new song for you Daeze my pretty flower" he whispers in to her ears giving her soft rounded appendage a quick lick before he began to sing "I heard of a girl named Daeze, who walked around in a hazey, until hermes came, and washed her again, and then she was happy and crazy."
He chuckles laying his neck over hers and grinning broadly "Do you like it? I made it up all on my own."
Dreaming joyfully, she was taking deep breaths, perfectly content where she was. Beginning to stir, Daeze felt something soft and plush, it was just like a pillow. Happily, she snuggled up to the soft spot. It smelled rather nice as well, it seemed quite familiar. Was Raza, no, that couldn't be it... She felt a soft touch to her ear, and her ear flickered, though she snuggled more deeply into the plush pillow of- Wait... She had fallen asleep on a rock. Rocks weren't soft! Instantly, her head jolted up, and her back arched in defense, eyes darting rapidly to examine what had happened, fur puffed out in shock. “Hermes! What are you doing here?” she raised her voice in surprise more than anger.
After a couple seconds, she had calmed down enough to understand what was going on around her, though she was still hyperventilating. “To be honest, I think I like this one better. It has nothing to do with marriage or anything of the sort.”, said Daeze breathlessly.
Looking up at the now standing dusty pink female, he gave a chuckle. "I don't want to disturb your restful state why don't you lie back down? I was rather enjoying your snuggling." His lips turn then in a grin as wide as his face, his soft pale blue eyes dancing in a jovial manner.
"Hey you know you still owe me a groom come here, you have a mark right there." He reaches out and touches her nose with one of his front paw toes, quickly sitting up slightly and licking where he touched before laying back down with a roughish grin on his maw, the sun shimmering along his mint green fur.
"I like the marriage one, it has a certain ring to it." He puurs humming the tune as if in threat to break out in to the song once again.
Finally breathing normally again, Daeze laid back down, but not next to Hermes, it was about time she moved anyway, that spot on the rock was no longer sending waves of heat into her fur. About to rest her head again, she lifted it once again to respond in shock, “I was not snuggling you! You must be completely delusional! Where on earth did you get the idea that I cuddled you?”, she turned away, blushing. She looked back to see the sun dancing on Hermes's pale green coat. It was almost metallic... Daeze then realized that she was staring, only for a few moments, but she quickly turned away. “I believe the song went, 'until Hermes came, and washed her again' Nowhere did I hear anything about me washing you, and I won't do anything of the sort. This is my time to myself, I suppose if you wish to stay here, there is nothing I can do to stop you. But I would like to relax, so please do not bother me.
“To be honest, I liked the tune of the second one better, it seems like it would have a nice beat to it, if someone were to add one.”, she said nervously, hoping to persuade Hermes to not sing the first. It gave her an uncomfortableness inside.
Moving over slightly so as to be closer to Daeze on the large rock, he places a paw over her and pulls her gently towards him, encouraging her to use him as a fluffy pillow. "Sure you were snuggling me.I know I'm comfy to lean on, you can admit it." He tossed his soft pink mane from his eyes as he caught her staring, he stares back, unashamedly, she was a beautiful lioness, but she was more than that, she liked to bait him and he liked to bait her. It was a fun relationship really, even if she couldn't admit she liked him.
"I don't know, I'm not much of a song maker, I'm much better with normal words and looks wouldn't you say?" He purrs winking playfully. "I think you like the other song really, you just don't wanna admit it." He points to his cheek, which had started to heal over, "You gave me a memory of it after all." he grins.
Ears pinned, she felt a small growl gurgling in the back of her throat, with her squinting and looking upward stubbornly, as if she were infuriated with her own forehead. As Hermes began to tug her towards him, she did not resist, she rolled over once and laid her head down upon his soft belly. But it was not all sugar and lollipops, as she said, “Just because you are soft, does NOT mean I like you, by any means. I simply plan to have a good day, and part of that is a comfortable mid-day nap. If you are soft, you are soft, and I cannot deny that, but plushness has no accounting for personality.”, she denied whole-heartedly.
“Well, you are right about the first part, you are not really one who's talent is music, but I'm not so sure about the second part. You really are full of yourself aren't you, think you are the sexiest thing on the planet, but look deep into my eyes and see if I like you.”, unfortunately for her, that was a poor move on her part. She liked him a little and she knew it. She loved to prod him and see what made him tick, so much that she actually occasionally looked for him when she was having a bad day. Her rosy eyes had a slight shimmer that contradicted what she was trying to say. She did, in fact, like him... sort of.
The soft green male couldn't help but chuckle, she was so stubborn, it was one of the reasons he pursued her so avidly, beside the fact that she was beautiful, he was attracted to her without a doubt, but there were a lot of beautiful women in the world. The big attraction with Daeze was that she was hard to get, so stubborn she piqued his interest and kept him coming. He liked her a lot. That in itself was enough of an excuse.
Turning to look in to her eyes, his own pale cornflower blue orbs looked deep in to hers. A slight tug lifted a corner of his lips, but he wasn't fool enough to say what he saw there, he was just happy enough that an almost fondness danced in her eyes. "Oh I know, just a pillow, I don't mind, after all we wouldn't want you to miss your beauty sleep, you might get all wrinkly." He chuckles, he could tease back just as easily, he did so enjoy getting a rise out of her.
"Sleeping against me my beautiful flower you can only become more beautiful in wakefulness." He chuckles and lays his head on his paws, his bubblegum pink mane cascading around his face. "You know you wouldn't enjoy my company half as much if I wasn't confident, we all know you enjoy it so much." he snickers, sarcasm streaming in his voice, he knew to taunt would only pull her closer "I can but strive to make you hate me more my little dusty rose." He smirks, closing his eyes and waiting for the usual stream of abuse.
There was actually, something... enjoyable about being terrible to Hermes. It was actually sort of nice, being able to abuse him time and time again without hurting anyone. She could say anything she wished to say to someone else without feeling bad about it. She tried to convince herself that she was doing this simply to restate the fact that she would never love him, but... what was wrong with her? She found herself trying to make sure she didn't go too far, and seriously offend him. Was it because, maybe she was afraid if she went too far, he would honestly go away? Psh, don't be ridiculous, Daeze! I mean... why would you... do that...? Oh crap, she was so going to hate herself for this. As she got lost in her thoughts, she bit down on her tongue to try to dissuade her body from feeling those emotions. All she had to do was associate him with pain, and... Wait, that would be pointless! If she were ever to talk to him again, she couldn't be biting her tongue!
After their brief staring contest, she laid her head back down and snuggled as she said, “Good, just a pillow, and nothing mo--”, Daeze stopped mid-sentence, jolting her head up immediately with a familiar glare plastered to her face. “I would NOT get wrinkly! I come from a wonderful pedigree of lions and lionesses, and the sun simply makes our coats shine!”, she hissed with a tone that threatened that she would list off her entire family tree if he were to say otherwise. She gestured towards her rosy coat and bleached white mane and tail, and then to her golden mask. All of which seemed to have an almost metallic look to them.
A smirk appearing on her face, she retorted, “This is true, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun tearing down your self esteem if it were already low. That would be like beating a dead horse.” Daeze's grin disappeared just as quickly as it came. “Well, you are doing a great job then!”, she said bitterly, as she turned and heavily dropped her head onto his tummy, aiming to possibly knock the wind out of him.
The soft green male gave a gentle smile as she snuggled in to him, she was trying to convince herself of things that weren't true. Well, he could go along with the lie for the moment, at least until she decided to tell him the real truth.
Settling his head on the ground his pale pink mane flowed over her head and he gave a gentle yawn. He'd let the flower think she was being strong, why not? After all, he did so enjoy her fighting spirit as long as she was directing that spirit at him, that was the greatest challenge. He didn't want to quell the lionesses growl, he wanted more of it, wanted her to be his little tigress, he dd so love the challenge.
Yawning widely, he closed his soft blue eyes, a smile on his youthful maw. He was home now, in the paws of his lady love, even if she couldn't admit she liked him.
